I will definitely recommend Tranquility for any home improvement job you may be thinking about. To begin with, Bev is very thorough, and honest, with her estimate. She gave us all in's and out's on every choice we had to make. She ensured we made an educated decision about our project every step of the way. Jim is fantastic, he is a pleasure to work with, especially when it comes to stones, granites etc. Last but not least, Elliott, he was the action man for us, to get the job done. He pays attention to detail and does not hesitate to call his people back if any job is not done per our (customer) satisfaction. All in all, its my experience that Tranquility team is very customer oriented and made sure we are happy every step of the way.

After design with Bev and Ryan, progress began with walls coming down safely and work progressing through Elliott’s project management, the Sean’s muscle and follow-up, Jim’s help in selecting the right stone and outstanding sub-contractors; everything in these uncertain times kept rolling to completion.

Reno’s aren’t easy, but we always knew Tranquility and their quality work, with friendly and thorough sub-contractors would get the job done. Especially in the middle of COVID-19!

After doing quite a bit of research looking for contractors in the greater Plainfield area to do some work on our newly purchased home, we found Tranquility and reached out to quote an installation for a new Kitchen Backsplash, Bathroom Vanity and Mirror removal, and new vanity and mirror install. Our main contact Elliot was extremely responsive both via phone and text and was very flexible with getting the project scheduled around other contractors that would be working at the house over a 2 week period. Josh performed the Vanity and Mirror demo and was able to salvage the mirror and left the whole area extremely clean. Gustavo did a fantastic job working in the kitchen installing white subway tiles throughout. I am a stickler for details and the quality of everyone's work showed throughout each project. We then worked with Sean for the finishing touches and re-installation of the vanity and electrical in the kitchen and I can't say enough great things about him. He had to deal with a few electrical issues during the project and he handled what was a frustrating problem with an amazing attitude, he was awesome to talk to, and is an incredible representation of the company as a whole - great people doing great work. Any minor hiccups that occurred (missing parts I didn't have for some of the install, a faulty electrical outlet) were handled swiftly and without frustration, and my wife and I couldn't be happier with the end result. Big thanks to everyone at Tranquility for the work they put in to make our first home purchase and remodeling experience awesome!

We had a great experience with Tranquility builders. You hear many horror stories about how home remodeling, but that was not our story. We had our master bathroom redone. They were prompt, attentive to our requests, and kept to the timeline for the build as we had hoped. The people they brought in to do the work all did a great job. In the end, we were really satisfied. I would recommend them to anyone who has home improvement needs!

My company has worked with Tranquility Builders for years and have always had the best experience. I work in the plumbing wholesale business so we work closely together to help homeowners pick their plumbing fixtures. The Totschs treat everyone like family. They are kind, caring, and they listen to what you have to say. From the professional standpoint, there are just certain people you know you are going to have a good experience with every single time, and Tranquility is that company. Tranquility was a pleasure to work with.
Unlike other house renovation stories we've heard in the past, they actually finished the project on-time. We would receive a text the night before informing us who would be arriving the following morning (carpenter, painter etc...) and when, and lo and behold they would arrive on time.
They had some great ideas regarding kitchen design that we utilized, and we're glad we listened to them.
Their contractors were also great to deal with and had a "can-do" attitude.
We're very happy with our "new" house, and we would highly recommend Tranquility to anyone.

We had a great experience with the entire Totsch family as they helped do a complete renovation of our master bathroom. They oversaw a complete transformation of the space into a luxurious bathroom that makes us feel like we're living in a hotel.

There were two things I liked best about Tranquility. The first was their communication: Each night, we'd get a text from Elliott outlining what work would take place the next day and when the workers would be arriving. If you've ever worked with a contractor, you know this is not always something that happens. It was really appreciated.

The second was the attention to detail. If anything needed an adjustment or touch-up, Tranquility was happy to see to it. I've never worked with anyone that did a better job of following up on bucket-list items. They weren't happy until we were happy!

Working with Tranquility Builders was a dream! We had never hired a contractor before and felt quite apprehensive about the whole process. From our first meeting with Bev, we felt heard and at ease. The whole Tranquility team provided us with top-notch work and were so pleasant and responsive to work with. We had a rotting back patio that was supporting our house so we knew we needed to hire a contractor with the experience to do the job right the first time. In addition, they did a fantastic job on remodeling our kitchen. What a pleasure it was to work with them, and their whole crew. Would highly, highly recommend them to anyone!

In a world full of contractors it's hard to know who you can trust. Tranquility will take care of your house as if it's their own. Two years after the project wrapped up an electrical surge in the area caused our main breaker to fail and created a dangerous situation while we were out of town. We called Elliott on the morning of July 4th in hopes he could help and within two hours the breaker was replaced and power restored to the house, free of charge. Thank you Tranquility for building us a beautiful home and keeping us safe!

We couldn't be more pleased with the work Tranquility recently completed for us. Our laundry room went from a chaotic and messy space to an organized and functional mudroom, and our master bathroom remodel is gorgeous and inviting. Abbi was creative with the use of our space and provided 3D renderings to help us visualize the design. Elliott, Sean and the rest of the team were incredibly accommodating and willing to go to any length to give us exactly what we wanted. Customer service and quality of work are top notch. We can't wait to use Tranquility for our next project!

The Tranquility team was great to work with. They had a can-do attitude. They run a very professional operation. They have excellent project management skills and collaborated very well with our designer. They had excellent design ideas that tied everything together. They were a pleasure to work with, easy-going, and flexible. I am extremely pleased with the kitchen remodel and would highly recommend them.

Primary Suite Renovation. Tranquility was simply amazing. Finding a reputable contractor was of paramount importance to us, and reviews are what led us to discerning that Tranquility should be considered. With all confidence, and 14 months post our renovation, we can say that we absolutely made the right decision to hire Tranquility for our job. Everyone on their team, including the subcontractors they bring on the job site, encapsulated professionalism, vision, kindness, creativity, and beyond all else, high levels of craftsmanship. Ryan helped us envision a completely new layout for our closet and bathroom, which included gutting both spaces (adjacent to one another) flipping the bathroom and closet 90 degrees, and installing a new wall that solved all of our space problems, bringing our hopes to reality. Miranda’s design vision married perfectly with ours, and we were able to collaborate with one another in order to install exactly what we wanted. Collectively we chose materials, some of which they fully brought to the table, and vice versa - Tranquility was very open to allowing this as long as the materials did not compromise the integrity of their work, which we fully appreciated! On the job site, Jim ran the job. There are not enough words to describe how incredible Jim is as a contractor, and, beyond that title, as a gentleman, being approachable, kind, and communicative. Jim ran a tight ship, managing the subcontractors that came in and out of our home, ensuring they were doing a great job, and working on his own time to make sure every detail met his high standards. He even ensured our two golden retrievers got ample pets and treats we set out (boy did our pups love Uncle Jim and Sean!). Sean was Jim’s right hand man, and he was just as amazing as Jim. Regarding the subcontractors - wow! Wood team (Jack and others): we installed 3/4 inch redwood floors in our primary bedroom, which bumped up to our existing 16 year old hardwood; the transition and color are seamless as if they were all laid at the same time a number of years ago, and we didn’t even have to sand the portions of hardwood outside of the primary. We had architraves and crown molding in our space, which mostly had to be demoed, and the new pieces Tranquility installed matched the rest of the home absolutely perfectly. Additionally, the custom walnut cabinet Ryan suggested for our space, with matching built in shelving is gorgeous. The tile team was incredible; Jesse’s crew has such deep care for their work, and it truly shines through in our finished product. Our finished bathroom has a large percentage of tile throughout, and Jesse’s crew did an impeccable job. Again, collaborating with Miranda on the finishes was a terrific union, and we truly enjoyed working with her to make our lighting and tile choices congruent to her vision as well. For our closet, we knew we did not want cabinetry, as we wanted to see our items easily in the finished product; Ryan’s direction allowed us to work with a local store and their design team in order to keep the space beautiful, bring our vision to reality, and stay within our desired closet budget. With that in mind, the overall budget Tranquility projected for the job stayed true throughout. More could be shared here, but if you have made it this far, just know that Tranquility is more than just a name - their incredible work brought us tranquil peace of mind throughout, and we continue to immensely enjoy the tranquil product we created together. Tranquility was our 3rd and final attempt in securing a contractor for a unique project. We were transforming an above garage storage space into a full blown coach house/condo. Well to say it worked is an understatement. From day one, this dynamic family run team delivered on all points; on time, on budget, creative use of space, excellent project management. Every day I would know what to expect from my point of contract on the job. Never was I left wondering what was happening daily, weekly, etc. The professionalism was above and beyond with everyone they brought into the job. I highly recommend this team. They brought a creative element to the job in addition to great design ideas! Their craftsmanship on the job is phenomenal! If you’re looking for a team to deliver on time, in budget, excellent quality and amazing with communication, look no further.

The entire Tranquility team was wonderful to work with. They remodeled the majority of our first floor, including our kitchen, powder bath, family room, laundry room and stairs. We chose to live in the house during the renovation with 3 small children and they made the whole experience as painless as possible. Elliott was wonderful with communication and let us know each night who would be at the house the next day. All the contractors were very professional, knowledgeable and great to work with. We made several changes/add-ons throughout the project and both Elliott and our designer Caitlyn were patient with us and helpful in making sure we got exactly what we wanted. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and love our new house! We look forward to working with them again for future house projects.

Tranquility have redone our last 2 basements and they did an absolutely outstanding job from start to finish. From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, their professionalism and attention to detail were top-notch.
We love our newest basement - they transformed an unfinished space into a beautiful living space, with multiple rooms (an office, TV room, game room) and they added a bathroom! The quality of the work is excellent - the framing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, etc. were all done with skilled craftsmanship.
Elliot was our project manager and he kept us updated every step of the way and addressed any concerns we had promptly. When we requested a few small design changes partway through, they accommodated us without issue.
We trust Tranquility - we called them about a plumbing issue a few months after the basement was finished and they sent their plumber right out. It's a family business which I like and they delivered a fantastic finished basement at a fair price. We are overwhelmingly satisfied and highly recommend them to anyone considering a basement renovation project. They get an A+ rating from us!

We are so happy that we found Tranquility Builders! We recently bought a new home that needed a significant amount of updating and Tranquility has now remodeled the entire first and second floor of our home (including everything from the kitchen and master bathroom to the mudroom and sunroom). From our first meeting with Ryan, we knew that we could genuinely trust the Tranquility team. Ryan brought creative design ideas to the table, as we knew a second floor laundry room was a must-have for us but couldn’t figure out how to squeeze it in. Ryan came up with a great idea that has worked out perfectly and we are so pleased with the outcome. Bev was our general manager and I simply can’t say enough good things about her. It’s apparent from day 1 that the customer experience is of utmost importance to her and I truly appreciated her open communication throughout the remodel process. Tim was our carpenter and he consistently went above and beyond, his woodwork skills are top notch and he is a pleasure to work with. Tranquility allowed me to make our remodel a truly custom experience from the cabinetry right down to the layout of drawer inserts. Their design software brought everything to life before construction started so I was very confident in what the final product would be, which gave me great peace of mind. By the end of the experience the Tranquility team really felt like family and I look forward to working with them again when we tackle the basement!

Covid made us realize we needed to make some changes at our home. Our initial plan was to do a large addition, however, when Ryan from Tranquility came out to meet with us he helped us realize the space we needed already existed! The design Abby and the Tranquility team came up with was great and their estimate was presented very professionally. They were not the cheapest estimate, but their attention to detail far surpassed the other estimates. The cheapest also didnt respond after their initial estimate. The work was done thoroughly, communication was great via daily texting/calling from Elliot and Bev, and even during Covid we managed to keep good progress to completion. We love our home and have rave reviews and comments from guests. Entire home remodel including kitchen, flooring throughout the home, mud room, powder bath, office, master bath, kids' hall bath, and dining room.

Not a good experience overall with our Kitchen remodel! I’ve tried to write our bad experience in detail but it just is too long. Everything that we were told in order to sign the contract ended up changing. Our “designer” was super difficult and unhelpful after we didn’t go with her initial vision. (We had a very clear vision of our own that we wanted, nothing personal). Communication was mainly via email & terrible. When we finally reached out to Ryan with our concerns, he defended his designer adamantly and after that day, we never heard from Ryan or our designer again. (This was during the demo stage fyi-). For the remainder of the project we were left to deal with our PM who we were told came back from retirement to “help out”. From that point on, we had no set schedule and were left hanging each day wondering if anyone was going to show. We’d get texts around 9pm saying that someone would come the next day. We’d rearrange schedules to be home and then many times would get a text around 10am saying that something came up and they couldn’t make it. Sometimes they’d show up and work for an hour and leave. This went on for months. The main portion was completed around 11-5-23. At that point we gave our punch list items of things to complete/fix. They said they’d be completed that week. By Christmas we were tired of waiting and told them to forget it, we will figure out how to get them done ourselves. I’m still so frustrated at how things were left and how we were treated. Our neighbors had a very similar experience, only theirs has been going on for over a year… Photos attached of how our kitchen was left for the holidays. All of the grout in the kitchen and dining room has to be replaced, new floor trim doesn’t cover the wood glue, missed cabinet stain on almost every cabinet etc. ! This was a lot of $$$ and we basically felt like they checked out after they got the majority of the balance. 😔

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Tranquility on our kitchen renovation. From the first time we met Bev, we felt at ease. At our initial meeting, she looked around, took measurements, and went through what we would like for our space. She pointed out a pipe which might be an issue right away, and we appreciated knowing about this from the get go. Meeting with Ryan and Abbi to design the space was so much fun. It was great to see the 3D renderings. I had my heart set on one long island, but Bev and Ryan came and taped out the space to show me how two islands would be better aesthetically and from a working standpoint. I am so glad they were able to change my mind. Bev was also able to talk me off the cliff on a couple small design elements, pointing out that they would not be easy to change out and were very specific to my taste. She was not pushy at all, but her pointing these out changed my mind. Working with Elliott as our general contractor was great. Any issue that came up, he was on it. He kept us updated about what to expect week to week and sent us a text each evening on what would be going on the next day. This was especially helpful because it helped us to plan what to do with our kids and dog. We could not be happier with how our kitchen turned out, and there is not one thing we would change about it. All of the contractors were professional and did beautiful work. They kept us updated on any changes that needed to be made, and there were no surprises. We would highly recommend Tranquility to anyone looking to renovate their home.
