Jim Phelps has restored my belief in workers that we have previously hired. We had a patio installed in a home where we previously lived.. It was done beautifully and still looks great after many years.. In our new home we had some pavers and a sidewalk added to our driveway.. They did a beautiful job.. The job called for the gutter drainage to be changed including going under a sidewalk... Later the drainage pipes were backing up and causing the gutters to fill up and pour out. I called Jim and he responded immediately because I was a wreck wondering if that water would back up into the house.. He sent his guys out the next day and when they dug it up found out that the person who previously did the work used the wrong piping and it collapsed. Even though this was not his fault or problem he had his workers fix it at his own expense. They completely dug it up and replaced the piping.. Mind you this was not a short run.. I cannot express enough how much we appreciated all this.. If you're looking for an honest place to have excellent work done and stands behind it call them.. You'll be very pleased.

Phelps Landscape has done about 30 homes for me over the past few years. Mike and his crew always show up when they are supposed to, and the plants and other materials they use are always top notch. I highly recommend them to anybody!

Beautiful work. Some may think on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for. Warranties on their work. The workers were all very professional. The 2 Mikes are easy to work with.

We have used Jim Phelps Landscape numerous times over the years, and we have always been very pleased. Our most recent project, at our lake property, came with some drainage challenges, as our lot is very steep. After we removed a very old deck ramp, we had the challenge of the steep lot, plus the exposed eroded soil where the ramp was alongside our foundation. This was of great concern for us. We contacted Mike Phelps, and he came up with a solution for the drainage (including a drainage system, and a section of permeable Unilock pavers where flagstone was). Additionally, he knew what our prior homes landscape was like, and suggested an informal large flagstone cobble walkway down the hill, which we love (along some new landscape)! Mike Phelps and Jim Phelps Landscape provided us with much confidence. Highly recommend!

If you need landscaping get this company. They built me a new retaining wall and it looks fantastic. The crew was always on time and very respectful and cleaned up after each day. Mike is a super guy who explains everything to you . The quality of the stones is excellent. I am super satisfied. The price was also very reasonable.

We had them complete several projects we have been putting off. The seat wall they built for us looks amazing and we are already thinking of doing the other side of our patio for next year. They buried some downspouts and did several clean up projects including rebuilding and power washing a couple of landscaping walls and they graded and seeded other parts of our yard. They were super flexible with getting the work done. They made every attempt to get it done at every break in the rainy weather this season. Their crew was very professional and fast. I highly recommend them for the quality work and fair price! Mike was great to work with and was always stopping in to check in with us and his crew.

Great experience with Jim Phelps Landscaping! Had my property landscaped last fall. All new plants were guaranteed for a year in case they didn’t survive the winter or extreme summer heat. Mike and his team came back out for a follow up visit today and not only did they do a walk down but they also helped me with some weeding at no cost. Much appreciated! They are a great company!

Just finished our project with Mike. This is our 3rd house Mike & crew have done for us and this was the best job yet. They did a ton of work; built in grill, widened drive with pavers, landscaping all around. Added built in lighting for the finishing touch. We are thrilled. My husband and I would definitely recommend Jim Phelps Landscape! Our patio looks amazing. We had initially chosen our pavers but once they started laying them, we realized we didn't like the color against our house. We called Mike and it was an easy switch! We decided on a different color and the crew was able to get the new pavers same day- we didn't lose much time at all. They were very easy to work with and do great work. Very impressed!

Jim Phelps was one of the most professional and genuine human beings to work with. We called to get an estimate on a new paver patio and he came within a few hours and had a new patio in a few weeks. Drainage Flood Project

This company provided outstanding service start to finish.
We recently moved into a home with a large yard prone to heavy flooding. Last season, standing water caused an oak tree to fall on our home.
This company installed multiple drains and properly pitched the earth away from our home to protect it for years to come.
They went above and beyond the work originally quoted and created beautiful usable spaces on our property that were useless before because of water damage.
This company had every tool needed and completed a major project in less than 3 days.
Knowing our home is safe from water is such a huge burden that has been lifted.
We cannot wait to use Phelps Landscape on future projects.

They designed and installed both our backyard patio and our front porch. They were so incredibly easy to work with, from the selection of materials (a very no-nonsense approach when determining value vs appearance), to the overall design. They were sure to review every last detail and were very responsive when we had special requests or questions, and we had several questions about what trees/shrubs we should select.

Their knowledge of what works and how and when things bloom is really remarkable. He even warned us about what plants not to select because they don't hold up to heavy winds well, which we definitely have.

Not only do they do impeccable work (they have done my mother-in-laws patio, as well as my brother-in-law's porch and patio), but they stand by their product. We have had a stone come loose after a few years of erosion. They were out THE NEXT DAY after I told them about it to fix it. I will go to bat for this company and their work.

The entire crew of Jim Phelps Landscape was such a pleasure to work with! They turned our ordinary backyard into a 26x22 Unilock patio area with a beautiful fire feature. There was a lot of pre-work that needed to be done with grading to make it just right. They know their stuff! We love working with local businesses, and this group is the BEST! We are already dreaming of what we can have them do next.

Our builder recommended Mike Phelps and his crew for our new home in Joliet and we could not have been happier with the experience and the final product. Mike and staff designed and installed our entire landscape, which included a massive undertaking to accommodate stone retention walls, numerous paver patios, an irrigation system and a very large paver front porch. As you can see in the photos, Unilock pavers, with Color Guard, have proven to be hard-wearing and do not need sealing. Phelps Landscaping has helped us with various smaller landscaping projects throughout the years; however, this past year they put in a beautiful white aluminum attached pergola that was custom cut to our exact measurements we wanted and included custom cut shades/screens for added cooling and protection from the sun. Mike Phelps worked with the company to get everything he needed and we wanted for this project. He and his crew also added a brick ribbon around the perimeter of our patio to extend its size and laid down sod around the perimeter of our patio and recently done sidewalk too. It all turned out great and we truly enjoy our outdoor patio space much more frequently now.

The wife and I are very happy with the work that was done. I called Jim with the hope he would be able to bury our downspouts. Within a couple days of my initial phone call, Jim was at our house providing an estimate. A week later, his crew came out and completed the job.

Jim is very personable and takes the time to understand your goals as a homeowner. Out of the 5 estimates we received, Jim provided one right in the middle. He made me feel confident that his company used good materials, and that the workmanship would be top notch. It was.

It rained most of the day yesterday and the buried downspouts appear to be working as intended. There is no water by our foundation and the buried downspouts now appear dry.
