Update: I recently had Tim visit my home to service my A/C unit under warranty. What struck me as odd is that no one ever instructed me on how to maintain the unit, assuming I'd magically know how to clean it. When my unit stopped working and the scheduled appointment arrived, I did some research and discovered that a dirty AC unit could be the culprit. To my surprise, Tim found that the unit was indeed filthy.

I took the initiative to remove the covers and vacuum the unit, hoping this might help him diagnose the issue. However, even after cleaning it, the problem persisted. When Tim arrived today, I shared what I had discovered, including my efforts to clean the unit, in the hopes of helping him identify the root cause. Despite my willingness to provide information, he told me that I would have to pay $340 for the service, citing that the issue was caused by the dirty AC unit.

I'm baffled by this decision, as it seems unfair to penalize me for taking proactive steps to help the technician diagnose the problem. It's concerning that no one ever explained my responsibilities in maintaining the unit or warned me about potential issues that could void my warranty. This lack of clear communication is unacceptable, especially when dealing with complex equipment.

I'm extremely dissatisfied with this company at the moment.

Edit #2 - Further investigation revealed that replacement capacitors for my unit can be purchased retail for around $20 and replaced in under 10 minutes. I have no idea why I was charged such a high amount, regardless of whether it was covered under warranty or not. The discrepancy is astonishing.
