I really do not like leaving poor reviews, but this was warranted.

I got a quote from Young's Tree service and it was a fair price so I booked a time for the trees to come down. There was a delay because of equipment and then I was given a new date for when the service would be done. That day passed and several others. When I finally got a hold of them they said they had mis-quoted the job and was going to pass on the project.
I waited over 3 weeks from the time they quoted (not after a storm) to ultimately turn down the job they signed up for. My concrete work has had to wait further and now have to find another company to take down my trees.
The lack of professionalism, and overall sketchy approach should give you pause to use this company. There are several other companies out there that want the business and stand behind their word.

We called 5 tree service businesses after a major windstorm event. Don Young was the first to call and came by that same evening and gave an estimate. He and his crew arrived the next morning with an aerial crane, Vermeer chipper, and flatbed truck. He cleared the tree from the house without doing further damage. He returned within the week to take down the 100' + maple tree in a tight backyard location. The job was completed in 3 1/2 hours without any problems of hitting fences, sheds, or neighbors' properties. They did an excellent clean-up job after the tree was removed from the property. A lot of tree services pop up after a storm. If you want a guy with a saw and pickup truck, you can probably find one. For my money, I want a pro with experience and the equipment to do the job right. Strongly recommended!

Had Don and Tommy out to trim 5 mature trees in my yard. Don was quick to call me back, show up for an estimate and was VERY fairly priced compared to a competitor estimate. They got on the job quickly (when conditions allowed). They were also mindful to limit damage to the yard, which isn’t completely avoidable even without equipment as I had large, high limbs, including one over the house. I would definitely use them again.

They did an excellent job. Very reasonably priced, professional, very fast but cleaned up very well after taking down the trees. I would highly recommend them.
UPDATE: Just had 1 HUGE tree and 1 moderately sized tree and trimming other trees by Don and crew. They never disappoint. Efficient, respectful of property and clean up wonderfully.
He has done our ash borer injections for years. They all look great! I highly recommend.

Donny and Tommy are great! Called them because my neighbor tree was uprooting with the strong winds and would fall onto my home when it fell. They came out quickly, agreed it was a unsafe situation and gave me a great price to get it cut down to a safe height the same day. The whole process took roughly three hours from start to finish. I appreciate how quickly and efficiently they worked to ensure my home would be safe despite the risk of cutting a tree down in high winds. I can sleep better tonight knowing the tree is no longer at risk of being blown onto my home. I will definitely call them again for my trees care needs.

A neighbors branch fell into my yard and both of us were looking at companies to have it removed. They were the first in getting out to give me a quote on the emergency branch removal and their quote was very reasonable. My neighbor chose a different company in the end, but five stars to these guys for their very prompt response!

They were cheaper than the others and did it in one go. Good stuff.

Great price and did an amazing job making my overgrown yard look brand new!

Matt did not tell me when he was coming each time he was not very responsive and lawn was not trimmed.
Wish we were treated more respectfully.

They did a great job removing my 70 year old tree. Last July 2024. And removed stump. Problem is The huge hump is still there. Not going down at all. Have called them many times this summer, gal in office said she would send someone out, and he would call me. There after customer service is horrible! Noone has called me for 3 months now. Pretty pathetic!!

I have used John's tree service several times for tree removal on my residential and rental properties. I trust them and anymore they are the only people I call when I need tree work done. I also recommend them to anybody else that needs tree work done or firewood. They do good work and at a fair price. They stick to their quotes so I know upfront what the costs will be. They also have great quality firewood, friendly workers there, and I enjoy coming down to the lot on Saturday mornings to throw some wood in the truck for the fireplace. Great prices on the firewood and it's usually very dry and ready to burn. I have had wetter oak before but was warned about it before I bought it. So again, honest and trustworthy people.

I hired John's tree service to take down a large tree in my front yard. The crew were friendly and professional their price was in line with other estimates I had gotten. They cleaned everything up quite nicely. I would without hesitation hire them again.

Hands down the best in Des Moines! From the initial request for an estimate to the job completed - flawless service. Great communication. Had a very large silver maple tree removed and a dead ash tree removed and stump ground. Scheduled for 2 day job and they were completely done on the 2nd day by 10:00 am. Clean up was amazing - can't even tell they were there. On time, very efficient and great price. Highly recommend. Josh and the crew were great to work with.

John’s Tree Service did a great job for us.. I appreciated the communication that I received with the office, when they were not going to be on time, due to finishing up another job. Not a problem. It was only delayed a couple hours and the cleanup was great. Keep in mind, they’re busy. If you get a quote and don’t hear anything for a couple weeks, just give them a call and they will get you in..

Cant say enough good about these guys. I had 2 really large trees removed. They both needed a crane to do the work. One was a dead oak tree overhanging my house in my landscaped backyard. They gave me a good solid estimate and when they would be able to do the work. confirmed when they would be coming. Gratefully changed that time due to rain because they didn't want to tear up my yard. Did the work and cleaned up the yard so well it was hard to tell they were there. These are the guys to use for those big difficult trees. I really enjoyed watching the whole process. These guys are Pros! Next phase chainsaw carving!

Josh and his crew were awesome. It was such a smooth process. Josh came out and quoted us in the early AM and 2.5 hours later his crew was there and working. They were quick and efficient and did a nice job with cleanup. Would highly recommend!

Hands down the best tree service. We had a large maple tree removed right next to a power pole, transformer, power lines etc. Complex to say the least. They did an amazing job. Safe, professional, quick and cleaned it up so well, my yard was left cleaner after, then it was when they arrived. They were also competitive on their price, communication was excellent and the crew was very professional to deal with. Can't say enough good things!

Brian and his team were absolutely wonderful to work with. They worked carefully to remove a large dead ash tree from our front yard and cleaned up all debri.

One of our trees fell across our driveway with a recent storm & I found The Tree Service LLC on the Better Business Bureau website. Brian responded quickly and he and his team came to our house to give us an estimate that morning before any other company had even responded to us. We thought it was a fair quote and we had him and his team remove the felled tree as well as the rest of the standing part of the tree. In addition he came back a couple days later to grind the stump. The team was courteous, efficient and cleaned up before they left. I would definitely use this business again for tree removal & stump grinding in the future.

We had 2 large dead trees that we needed removed. Both trees were in tricky spots: one hanging over our house and the other right next to power lines. We requested quotes from multiple companies and Brian was the first to respond. He came over promptly to give us a quote and was very knowledgeable about the trees. Some of the other companies we met with did not seem near as knowledgeable and had higher prices. My only complaint is that we were not notified when the work would be happening. My fiancé and I came home from work one day and the trees were gone. They did a great job of cleaning up. We never would have known they had been there if it wasn't for the 2 patches of woodchips where the trees used to be.

However, the real reason I'm giving The Tree Service 5 stars is Brian's flexibility with payment when we had a family emergency come up. My fiancé's cousin unexpectedly committed suicide and we drove out to Omaha that night to be with his family. When Brian texted the following day to ask about coming to collect the final payment, we told him what had happened and that we wouldn't be home for a week as the funeral wasn't for a couple of days. We offered to drive back the next day to pay him, but he was very understanding and allowed us to wait until we were back from the funeral. There are not many companies I know of that would wait a week after services are rendered to be paid in full and I will forever be grateful to Brian for working with us in that difficult time. I highly recommend The Tree Service.
