Huge and Amazing inventory! The staff are educated, polite, and helpful. I found peony and tomato cages that I couldn't find elsewhere. We've shopped all of the local nurseries. Portland Ave is buy far our favorite!!!

Recently went to Portland Avenue Nursery in Tacoma for the first time. It's fantastic! Their plant selection is great and the staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. It's like shopping in a beautiful park.

Great selection (including pollinator bees & mini hives!), very good prices, & the employees were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful & courteous. I got some large pots & a few early-season items today & I'll definitely be going back.

This place is beautiful and has a huge variety of plants. The prices are very reasonable and affordable for the awesome quality of there selection. The employees are also very helpful and have knowledge on the type of plant you want.

This nursery is fantastic. I gave incredibly vague parameters for a backyard tree and Vicky figured out what I needed. She very patiently walked me thru the pros/cons of various options and ideas. The prices were more than reasonable. I will be back!

I've been to many plant nurseries and Portland Ave is one of my favorites. I've always been able to find what I'm looking for and the staff is knowledgeable. I usually come here needing advice for a struggling plant I have at home and I've always been given good tips on how to turn the situation around. I would recommend this nursery.

Amazing nursery—probably the best I've ever seen.
I was there only a short time, as I arrived close to closing, but I managed to see at least a dozen plants I've never seen before. The staff are very helpful and things are organized and tidy.
I am excited to go back and spend more time there. -
( This is a update 10-14-22. I bought the 2 Sequoias in the spring of 2000 and this year one of them put on 34 inches in approx. 6 months!! ) ( The original review from the Spring of 2000 is next unedited)-------. Bought two Giant Sequoias this year, one in April and one in May. They are doing great after about 6 months, they are firmly established, they love water for sure. Were both about 4 1/2 ft. tall by 3 ft. wide. They just grew about 3 inches up and out, but they were freshly transplanted, so I did not expect much. Looking for about 2 feet of growth next year, with less watering. The best part is the price. I only paid around $97 each. Priced elsewhere if you can even find them, well over $200 each for the same size. I plan on coming back next spring for 2 different conifers. Great job guys!!

First time visiting and thoroughly enjoyed it. Acres of beautiful plants and trees, with pots and yard decor as well. Prices were fair and staff very friendly and knowledgeable! Gorgeous hanging baskets, will be back soon.

Talk about an oasis just a short distance from home! Love love love this place! You just have to check it out yourself. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the place is HUGE! Put this place on your list of places to visit this Summer. And don't forget to check out the inside plants that they have now. Lots of succulents, snake, and vining plants. Very peaceful!

Absolutely ridiculous. We just moved from West Seattle to Tacoma. What cost us 45-50$ in Seattle, cost us $85 at this place. Their prices are RIDICULOUS and we won't be back. Happy to make the drive to West Seattle Nursery where the prices are not beyond unethical price gouging. Tacoma is being robbed and they don't even know it.
10 dollars each for a micro rosemary plant and a micro lavender plant is ABSURD. 13.00 for a bag of planting soil? Unbelievable.
Highway robbery. Nothing justifies this price point. -
Portland Ave Nursery has a wide variety of healthy and vibrant plants to choose from, and their prices are reasonable. I was on a mission to find a particular plant that after failing to find it at 2 other larger nurseries in the area I almost gave up and didn’t bother stopping by but I did and was surprised to find it among other plants that only Portland Ave Nursery seemed to have in stock. Highly recommend checking out this place when checking off some of your wishlist!

Portland Ave Nursery is a wonderful place. I can always find what I am looking for (and often things I am not looking for) and the prices are very reasonable. The quality is nice, and many of the plants I've purchased there, including the annuals, are still happy and healthy years later. The staff is always knowledgeable and helpful. I've brought them plant pieces for identification and asked advice on issues several times, always leaving satisfied.

Nice early spring morning to browse and buy. So fun and enjoyable. Top quality from annuals to every kind of tree imaginable (and anything in between). I didn't see one distressed plant in the entire place and it is vast!! Very clean, well organized with helpful staff. These people love what they're doing and it shows. Been there before and I'll be back!!

Portland Ave has always been a great garden resource. Herbs I bought there a month ago are growing so well I'm giving herbs away. And now I got three beautiful and hard to find 2' tall shade plants for less than $60.

A nice nursery with a lot of variety. It is my go-to for colorful annuals, rhododendrons, and ground cover evergreens. Customer service is pleasant and most of the employees can answer questions about what is in stock and how to care for the plants. Whenever I purchase soil and/or compost there is an offer to load it up and take it to my care.

What a great place! There are so many varieties of plants and trees it was easy to make my choices of what I wanted. The gal that helped me was a real pleasure,of course I forgot her name and the cashier was awesome also.
No need to go anywhere else. This place definately has their act together. Clean, neat, organized, easy to see the names of each item along with the price. What a fun experience I had. and will not go anywhere else. -
I’ve been to Portland Ave Nursery several times in years past but never wandered past the front section. This time I did and discovered that the place is huge with a large selection of plants and very helpful employees that really know their stuff. My new go to!

The best thing about this is it's the low prices. Affordable great plants, furniture and selection

Due to my neighbor's ignorance, my 15 foot, 25 year old Japanese
Maple died. A painful loss. I have shopped at Portland Ave. Nursery
for as many years as the age of that tree and knew I would be able
to replace it without much effort because they have the best selection
of all of the surrounding nursery's. Their prices are lower than most
and the staff is very helpful too. They also carry wonderful garden
accessories, pots and a great selection of quality teak outdoor
furnishings.
The nursery is really a treat to visit. It is a beautiful nursery with
incredible specimens planted everywhere and the grounds are kept
very orderly and clean. I found a wonderful, new Japanese Maple and
a big, beautiful pot to put it in, just like I knew I would. It was delivered
with care today and I could not be happier. We are fortunate to have
several nice nurseries in the vicinity but Portland Ave. Nursery is my
favorite due to over all quality and selection.
Thank you John, for the extra effort you made to make today's delivery experience so special. -
Wonderful Nursery to buy plants and trees. The employees are so nice and are very helpful. One of my favorite places to go for plants.
