Unfortunately I cannot give the review I would like to.
Pokorn construction is now banned from my condo building.
This is due to his company cutting a fire alarm system wire (which affected the entire building) and then his not paying the Honeywell invoice until we got lawyers involved months later at which time he paid only half of the $2100 invoice, causing me to pay the other half. When it happened Christian Pokorn assured me he would take care of it but then, even after 6 months, did not. I am very disappointed in his ethics.

If you need any kind of work done at your house, Pokorn Construction should be your first call. Christian is the owner, and he's extremely knowledgeable, a true expert in home renovations, and does amazing work. Unlike many other contractors, he is completely transparent and honest throughout the entire process.

I've had Christian and his crew work on several small projects at my house and I will continue to use them for repairs or remodels in the future.
They are honest, hard working folks who pay attention to detail.
I have used Pokorn construction to put down a new tile floor in our bathroom, repair a shower door, install a new shower head, repair a wall that had water damage and walls that had termite damage.

I have used Pokorn for two projects so far and I could not be more happy with the outcome on both. They installed a driveway and handled the entire process (permit and all). Most recently, they remodeled my master bedroom. It has made a use difference in our quality of life. We had noise and light issues in our bedroom that made it difficult to sleep Christian's knowledge of what to do is so reassuring when trying to resolve any issue with a house. I don't envision a circumstance where I would use anyone other than Christian and Pokorn for any projects on my home.

I got in touch with Christian, the owner of Pokorn Construction, because I had a long-distance novel handyman type project that I needed to have completed. It involved picking up some Home Improvement type that was only available at a store in New Orleans, breaking it down, and then shipping it up to me in Ohio. I chose Christian and his company because of the many positive reviews here on Yelp. Christian was able to assign one of his top handyman to the project, and it was completed flawlessly and on time and on budget. We could not be happier with how things went. He even made things simpler for me by paying for the merchandise and the shipping himself, and then just invoicing me one grand total, which was very convenient and much appreciated. I would thoroughly recommend Christian and his Construction Company on any projects and if I lived in the New Orleans area, he would be the first person I would get in touch with if I had need of a handyman or a general contractor!

Christian and his team provide quality work with positive, professional attitudes and genuine thoughtfulness. These guys are smart and well mannered. Pokorn construction completed a bathroom gut/remodel, as well as some sheetrock and woodwork in other areas of our home. They worked around me and my newborn baby being in the house, as well as my huge dog. They care about the end product and will not quit until you say you are satisfied. I will not use anyone else for projects large or small.

We hired Pokorn constructions due to the reviews online, and the Company exceeded my expectations. We moved to a new place last year, and we were looking for someone to replace the glass on our front door. We called Christian on a Wednesday and his crew came over on Friday. They replaced the old windows within two hour, cleaned up after themselves and we even received a follow-up call from Christian to see if everything was they way we wanted it on Monday. Top notch Company, with great customer service and a delightful staff. Since then we have used Pokorn for several other projects.

Christian is really great to work with. He takes his time and really thinks through each project. He always does quality work and has a great eye for design. Pokorn Construction is reliable and dedicated to doing the best they can for every customer. I highly recommend them :)

Used Pokorn for damage that occurred after Ida. Been a bit now, but feel I can give an accurate review.

Pros: Post disaster they showed up quickly and cleaned out the damage so mold wouldn't grow and affect my allergies.

When discussing things they were very professional.

They maintained a very clean working area.

When the roofers let water into the house when re roofing the house, Pokorn addressed and fixed all areas damaged by their mistake.

Cons:
1. They subcontracted to replace our roof. On the positive they matched the price and scope of work set forth by another company that subsequently ghosted us. On the negative - We have had MULTIPLE leaks from the roof since it was placed. The first one was within a year of the roof being replaced. I called Pokorn and they said it wasn't their work that resulted in the leaking but a problem underlying their work. All without seeing the issue first. They waited days to respond to it but said they would fix it (for a price). In the mean time we hired a roofing company (not a contractor that subcontracts roofing jobs) and got it fixed in a day. Fine - I figured - sure one thing, it wasn't them. It is an old house, things happen. Well then we had a second leak and a third leak. In fixing the third leak the roofers had to take up a portion of the work done by Pokorn on the flat part of our roof. The roofers went step by step through why what was done was never going to work. There were end to end rather than overlapping pieces, old roofing materials not appropriately removed, adhesives needed not used... I can go on. It is the classic half done post hurricane roof.
2. A tiny fence got destroyed in Ida. We paid a hefty fee NOT to have the fence drilled into the side of the house, but have a post created instead to not damage the house. They drilled into the house as we asked them not to. By that point the damage was done. We were so frustrated we just let it go (I regret that now).
3. All throughout working with the insurance company, Pokorn refused to help us. Refused to help do simple things like get photos that we requested to submit to the insurance. Or said they would and didn't. Then charged about 3x what the insurance said it should cost for the work. I was fine paying above what the insurance said given the situation - but 3x?!?!? They refused to explain why it was so much more - except to say they worked for us not the insurance company. Thanks for that.
4. The tape they used to hold down the protective layers on our hardwood floors ripped up the finish in strips when removed. They did acknowledge this was on them. They recommended we refinish the floors (reasonable, admittedly while the finish was only about 3-4 years old, it wasn't the best). Gave us a quote minus the cost of the areas they damaged. It was a very unfair quote - the damage was in multiple areas all around the first floor. In order to fix it - all major living areas had to be refinished. But the actual sq foot of damage was small (ripped up tape). So the $ credit for the "area damaged" was not on par with the time and effort of having to move everything out of the house to refinish the floors etc. The quote felt disingenuous.

In Summary:
The inside work they did was strong, well done. I have no complaints on that (floor issue aside). They also did great work on the porch (love it more now than prior to Ida). Finishing the punch list was a bit lacking. The roof has been a nightmare. They are overpriced (or were price gouging due to Ida).

I know it is hard to find a good contractor in NOLA. They aren't the best but far from the worst.

We had a really great experience with Pokorn Construction. We did a complete gut and remodel of the kitchen as well as some work in our living area. From start to finish Christian and his crew were professional with all aspects of the job. From the clear and concise contract, to the money saving suggestions, to a full explanation of the cost and need for any change orders, we felt fully informed throughout the process. The job was scheduled to take two months and hit its deadline. The crew kept the worksite as neat as possible. Finally, the quality of the work and the reaction from those seeing the finished project have been the best part of the process. Would definitely recommend them for your project.

Christian and his staff are very pleasant and honest. I have even recommended them to my co-workers when they have had home re-pair/plumbing needs. Recently, his staff members arrived to my location promptly and prepared to complete an estimate for me. They even took the time to explain to me the specifics of the quote, their concerns with the renovation regarding cost and offered alternative solutions. After several positive interactions with the company and the staff, Pokorn Construction is the only team I trust to complete my home improvement projects now.

I cannot recommend Pokorn Construction enough. I am SO impressed with the work they performed on my house. Not only was the work done to impeccable standards, it was also completed early, and exactly on budget. They even mopped their way out of my house at the end! The amount of detail and care provided was outstanding!
I needed to replace the double set of french doors in my master bedroom with windows and a single door, requiring him to completely remove the exterior wall and rebuild it from scratch.
He helped me pick out my materials to ensure everything I purchased was the correct size and product for the job.
His project manager, Patrick, was on site daily to ensure everything stayed on track. Any issues or concerns I had were immediately addressed. Both Christian and Patrick were communicative and responsive from start to finish. They even texted me photos of the work in progress so I could follow along remotely.
You get what you pay for in construction. And if you want to minimize headaches and have a superior finished project, Pokorn Construction is it.

I am a NYC resident who is fortunate enough to own a condo in New Orlean's Warehouse District which needed a total bathroom renovation. I chose Pokorn Construction in late April 2023 to do this tub to walk in shower conversion after visiting their website and seeing impressive photos of a condo they had renovated in my building.
Christian Pokorn, owner of this company, took a hands on and personal interest in this project and what a win this was for me.
From my initial in person meeting arranged via email and at my convenience, I found Christian and his condo specialist, Reggie Abaeo, to be very pleasant, patient and most accommodating.
I received an honest and most importantly, accurate estimate with a straight forward contract.
Christian graciously drove me to a nearby Floor Tile superstore where I was easily able to make my selections which he then forwarded a portfolio of fixtures needed. It turned out to be exactly what I wanted.
Work began in earnest late May when Reggie and his talented crew came and delivered this beautiful custom bathroom for me.
I received updates and photos of the work as it progressed and was billed as each stage completed.
When I did the final walkthrough in August, I was very pleased as the estimate turned out to be spot on and without any surprises.
I look forward to working again with this excellent local company and highly recommend Pokorn Construction.

I had by kitchen renovated in Aug. 2023 by Pokorn construction and I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in home renovation. They completed the work ahead of schedule and only took payments as each part of job was complete, which gave me peace of mind after having dealt with other unreliable contractors in New Orleans. My wife and I recently did extensive renovations to our home, including complete exterior and interior painting, a gut of the primary bathroom and an update of the kitchen with new countertops, backsplash, lighting, and painted cabinets. The exterior renovations also included re-framing of an entire wall, installation of several windows, and rebuilding the porch across the front of the house. Pokorn Construction's owner, Christian Pokorn, struck us as highly motivated with superior organizational skills and attention to detail. His staff, to a person, was professional, courteous, and accommodating. I've dealt with many contractors over my life, and unlike the normal estimate of "Provide all labor and materials to fix your fence, repair rotten wood and paint the exterior: $xxxx.xx," Pokorn's estimate included a very specific and detailed scope of work (more than a dozen pages) with each task and the materials used described in full. The construction contract included an itemized schedule of payments which was updated and supplemented during the course of the work so it was very easy to track what work the payments were being applied to and confirm that money spent was for work completed. We would definitely use this firm again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for quality and professional service.

If you are buying a home in which the seller used this company, RUN!!!!!!!!!! Completely negligent and now I am paying tens of thousands in home repairs due to the inspectors incompetence. Multiple issues that were not reported in the inspection.

Excellent professional customer service that exceeded expectations. The inspection was detailed and informative. Could not be happier with the results and informative details that were reported. I was able to get out of a contract for a house I put an offer on. The inspection saved me a lot of money and headache that would have been overlooked had the inspection report not been as informative. Highly recommend - you will not find another inspector who takes pride in putting your best interest first.
