I had a super tricky tree situation in my backyard, and Great Blue Co. were lifesavers! They trimmed a messy tree that was overhanging my house, were super prompt, and left my yard way cleaner than they found it. Will absolutely use them again for landscaping/tree trimming, they are lovely to work with!

David came to our place to access some trees. What a wealth of knowledge! He really took his time diagnosing the trees and explaining to me what was going on. I learned so much from our almost hour discussion, and no pressure to buy in to his suggestions. We wanted to pay him for his initial consultation but he refused. We definitely will work with them when we are ready.

I had a Holly tree blow into a neighbor's power line, presenting an urgent and difficult removal problem. Great Blue (Dave) quickly responded, described how it could be safely removed, and had it down within a few days of my call. Ben, Luke, and Dave are tree care specialists with the right equipment, and a growing small business.

Great Blue came out for a consult and I was happy to hire these guys. I like what they stand for (read about the company). They cleared old trees and years of wild grape. Good price. Very professional. I highly recommend them and plan to hire them again.

We have been delighted with our experience working with Great Blue. We started working with them last year (2019) to start what was for us, a very large-scale landscaping project at our new home. They have been very easy to work with from the start. After meeting with us at the house and going through the yard to figure out exactly what we wanted to do, they drew up a plan and helped us figure out the best way to stagger the work to help us spread out the cost over time (very nice). This also involved meeting with their landscape designer, who was very willing to take input from us (which was basically, make it look prettier than it does now, we don’t know what we’re doing) and drawing up lovely detailed plans explaining what all the plants are and how they will look in different seasons. She also was totally into using native plants that not only look great, but also tolerate the local climate well (both weather and soil conditions – including our clay filled yard).

We have 3 different main projects – installing a rain garden in our back yard, installing two flower beds in our front yard, and tearing out overgrown weeds/vines/who knows what along our fence line and installing new plants.

So far they have completed the first two projects – the rain garden, which is not only gorgeous, but also is working exactly as they described. We have a very wet backyard, that would become so waterlogged every time it rained that there was standing water for days afterwards. Now when it rains, the rain garden fills up, and then drains back down over about 24 hours. The plants were all picked out to be able to tolerate this level of water and after more than a year they all still look great. And the rest of my yard is no longer a wet yucky mess when it rains.

The second completed project is our front flower beds, which they did this year. It involved two different areas, one was your standard grass covered yard, and the other was an over growth mess of weeds, hunks of concrete and rocks. They managed to turn it into 3 lovely beds of flowers and plants that are mulched and edged. It looks amazing! Seriously, neighbors we don’t know are stopping to compliment the yard. And again, native plants were picked that will change throughout the seasons – giving us different colors and foliage to enjoy all through the year.

Great Blue has been wonderful to work with throughout this. They are very pleasant and easy-going and have over delivered on each project we plan. They are very willing to look at whatever craziness you have in your yard and help figure out a way to make it look amazing.

I needed a few things done around my yard, specifically taking down a huge holly very close to my front door. I was out of town when they came to do the job, and when I returned home everything was neat and tidy and all the things I pointed out were taken care of. My neighbor reported that the tree take-down was not loud and disruptive. They were professional and easy to communicate with. Great company!

I really like working with this company. The service is personalized and reasonably priced. I turned to them after about 40 years and 4 different tree companies. They showed up when promised, did small extras without charging me, got the work done thoughtfully and quickly. We have now used them twice and look forward to a long business relationship.

I wanted my front landscaping taken out and to be redone with more native plants, Great Blue Co. were just the people for the job!  Ben, Luke, and David were great to work with and all very knowledgeable. They removed the old small trees and shrubs, saving some that I wanted to keep, and Dorothy came up with a great design with an amazing variety of native plants. They also did a stepping stone pathway that came out perfect. I couldn't be happier with their work; I highly recommend them.

Our front yard was over crowded with far too many large trees planted too close together. In one hard days work, Great Blue Co had taken out some trees and saved others by limbing them up in a way that was effective and attractive. They even took care of some other dead trees on our property.

They were efficient, personable, and reasonably priced. I appreciated their knowledge of native landscaping and commitment to preserving the tree canopy in a way sensitive to everyday life.

I had a great experience with Great Blue Co. today! They gave me a reasonable estimate on some yard work that included temporarily removing our fence to take down a small tree and sheet mulching a patch of poison ivy, among other things. They were friendly and honest and did a wonderful job! I am so impressed with their work. They also put me in touch with a landscape designer to help me plan out some long term projects - I'll definitely be scheduling more work with this local company!

Great Blue offered excellent, personalized service for my landscaping and water catchment projects. They were responsive in communication, they worked with me to specify my vision, they were timely and reliable, and they did great work. They installed 4 rain barrels, came back to troubleshoot a small drainage issue at no cost, they planted fruit trees and under story plants, and have answered all of my follow up questions. The trees are growing beautifully, and the rain barrels are working perfectly. I haven't used a drop of city water in my garden all summer. Good people, good process, good price. I recommend them highly!

Great Blue is a great local company that we would happily recommend for any tree services. The guys did an awesome job! They were great about scheduling, gave an honest assessment, charged a fair price, and the work was top quality.

We had a tree removed in 2020 (about 45 ft. mulberry) that was badly leaning and in a tricky location at the back of our property line. The guys were able to take it down quickly, cut the logs into rounds that I could split for firewood, and chipped the rest of the brush for us. They cleaned up the work site nicely, dumped the chips where I asked and stacked the wood for me.

Great Blue was recommended to us by a friend who is an arborist (he doesn't work in our area) and I'm glad we decided to go with them. I plan to work with these guys again for any future tree work.

Recently had a rain garden and native plant garden installed by Great Blue Co through Howard County Cleanscapes program. They did an excellent job. The rain garden has been functioning great. I ended up wanting them to change the edging on the native plant bed after the initial install and they came back out to alter it no questions asked. Definitely recommend

Madelyn and the team at Great Blue were absolutely wonderful! They installed a 950 sq ft conservation landscape from scratch on a slope in my backyard and it turned out wonderful. The whole crew were professional, personable, and on time every day. Can't wait to see what pollinators it brings to my garden! Would use again in a heartbeat!
