Have a problem with cold basement and hired Home Energy Saving Solutions, LLC to do home energy audit. Energy consultant Mohammed El-Ghoul came on time and after short inspection suggested that we do need more specific HVAC audit, not whole home energy audit. Mohammed suggested a company which can do this, also made some very useful suggestions, and checked couple of things for free. We were not charged for service despite fact that Mohammed spent almost an hour at our home and provided useful advices. Very professional and honest service and I strongly recommend Home Energy Saving Solutions, LLC and especially energy consultant Mohammed El-Ghoul!

Mohammed and HESS truly are outstanding. I had my attic and crawlspace done by Hess 4 years ago. They did an excellent job at the time. And this year I noticed it was colder in my kitchen above the crawlspace. I called up Mohommed and asked if he could come take a look. He came out right away and crawled down there and looked all around, despite the work already done 4 years earlier. I tagged along and saw that it was not anything done previously by Hess that was leaking. In fact the spaces they did were all still nice and cozy. After poking around, he helped point out smaller air leaks here and there that had developed recently and added up to a colder space above! Mohammed offered suggestions on how I could easily fix them myself. He is a truly awesome and gracious guy that stands by his work. You can't go wrong with Mohommed at HESS.

Mohammed and the entire team were excellent to work with. Very profession, responsive, punctual, and performed excellent work. Our home is much more efficient now and they made the BGE credit a seamless process. Would recommend to anyone.

Mohammed El-Ghoul (my energy consultant) was informative, professional, and provided me excellent service!!

I was amazed by how professionally and thoroughly the inspection of my house was performed. Mohammed was very detailed and familiar with different type of structures. He was able to identify most probable locations for energy leaks and suggest a fix. I am confident the money I spend will be saved in my bills.

Engineer spent about an hour and 15 minutes in my home. I was expecting a more thorough investigation. Report was 13 pages, of which 5 pages were the cover, generic information and other filler. For $395, I got about 3 hours of work. Then the company told me they couldn't do any of the suggested improvements. Part of the appeal of going with the company was that they said they would apply the $395 audit fee to any repair, and their minimum repair costs for applying the audit was lower than a few of their competitors. Since they won't doing any repairs for me, however, I won't be able to recoup the $395. Unless you have major issues in your home, like a 10+ year old HVAC system, known insulation problems, etc., don't bother. They won't be able to help.

Mohammed did a great job. I originally had another company do my energy audit, after watching Mohammed do an energy audit at my parents house, I asked if he could take a look at my home and review my results. He gave me a price a third less then the other company to do the same work and I will be receiving a larger refund from my utility company then originally quoted. Please go with HESS, if they're booked, do yourself a favor and just wait, you won't regret it.

This is the second time I have used Home Energy Saving Solutions in the past few years, and I have been very pleased. They tightened up my three level home about three years ago and the results were dramatic. It was so hot in the bedrooms that we installed a separate AC unit just for the upstairs. But, it was still too hot. After HESS tightened up my attic and blew in more insulation, the comfort level increased significantly. Indeed, I am pretty sure if I had had HESS do their magic three years earlier, I wouldn't have needed that second AC unit. My second job with HESS was July 2015 at my sister's three level townhouse, circa 1970, where the temperature differential between the first and second floors on a hot summer day has been 10-12 degrees, making it extremely uncomfortable for sleeping. HESS discovered that the attic had only the original three inches of insulation, which was about worthless. I have been somewhat of a fanatic about insulation over my four decades of home ownership, but never really appreciated caulking and weather stripping until I met Mo from HESS. All those little holes between the upper story and attic which are conduits for pipes and wires allow a "stack effect" to be created where a the conditioned air from inside the house gets sucked into the attic. Well, HESS has some brave workers who climb into your blazingly hot attic and spray foam over all of these "penetrations" and only then do they blow in about another foot and a half of fiberglass insulation. I was impressed with HESS when they candidly told me about kind of remediation that just didn't pay off; they prioritize the different work that can be applied to your house so you can focus on getting the most bang for the buck. My utility bills dropped significantly after HESS worked on my house and I expect the same for my sister's house. I can't recommend HESS highly enough. HESS has offices in Maryland and Virginia.

Mohammed and his crew are awesome! I just got my rebate check last week!! HESS did the paperwork for that! SO, let me tell you... Me and my wife moved to Maryland in Dec2016, we closed on the 15th and moved in to our huge house, 4 levels including basement, which means the house came with 3 HVAC units. Yes I was worried about that. I hired an independent home inspector who looked all through the house and attic, said we just had a few pieces of insulation out of place, no big deal. House was remodeled in 2006 so I didn't expect too many issues, UNTIL PEPCO sent my first electric bill $869 Feb2017. We have electric heating and AC. The bill had me thinking they added the bill from the last owners lol. Au contraire mon frere, that was all mine for 30days. March I wasn't having it, sealed up windows with plastic, shut rooms off, kept 1st floor on 68 and our bedroom on 70 and we bought portable heaters; that bill $583, still not to my liking. I kept scrambling online to figure out how to lower the bill, solar guy came by for an estimate, but I didn't want to part with my money, we still had an insulation problem. I saw PEPCO had an energy audit program that could qualify for rebates; reviewed the companies, called a couple and settled on HESS. Mohammed came out for my audit with all kinds of gadgets. he did a blower test at the front door to see how much heat loss we had, 36% going out. We then walked around with a infrared heat gun, which showed me where in the walls and floors heat was escaping. Attic and crawl space under 1st level was not to standard and my dollars were just raining out of cracks, no pun intended! He game me bulbs, new shower heads, power strips for free and then provided the audit after a few days. The audit was in depth and explained all of our issues and what it would cost.Tax money came back and we hired Mohammed and his guys. They did the job in one day, which was very impressive, attic and crawl space in a 5K square foot home, YA exactly! May my bill was $359, June $204. Clearly, it's all about how well your home is buttoned up and efficiency of your units. He also told me that I had more tons than required from my units. This review was me keeping it real, like Will MO Jr. I would definitely recommend HESS, Mohammed and his crew to anybody with high electric bills.

Great service! It was done in less than an hour and Mohammed encouraged me to follow along with him as he pointed out areas to increase energy efficiency. It was really helpful for understanding the results of the report. He also did a great job explaining how the BGE rebates work.

Hess did excellent work in our house in Bethesda!
The results of your test-out were impressive. Previously, our home needed 6582 cubic feet of air per minute (CFM50) blown out to keep the house at a -50Pascal pressure difference (according to the audit report), versus 3620 CFM50 with the test-out. This equates to your Natural Air Exchange Rate improving from .61 to .33, almost 50% improvement! That means that our HVAC system has to cool/heat that much less air that is being lost to the outside. This test does not measure the impact of all the additional insulation in reducing heat loss that was done, only the air leakage portion of the work! It's 104F outside today, and we already feel the difference!
All work was done in one day, they left house clean as it was before they came.
Mohammed was very responsive, provided detailed explanation during the whole process, and replied promptly to my requests.
Pepco rebate is supposed to cover 40+% of total cost. Mohammed submitted all paperwork himself.

    Update, Dec 20, 2018

Mohammed did a great job to follow up with PEPCO on my rebate. For whatever reason, I haven't received the check. I wrote the email to Mohammed asking to follow up with PEPCO. Within 10 days I receive the check.
Mohammed did not only great job on weatherization, but was also quick and responsive to follow up with PEPCO.

Mohammed did the audit for my house and his company carried out the insulation work recommended. I was impressed with his knowledge and expertise, I kept coming back with more questions to help improve the insulation/air quality in my house and Mohammed was happy to answer them all. I highly recommend working this company.

We engaged HESS to perform an energy audit on our house, measuring energy efficiency and inefficiencies and recommending steps that we could take, including additional insulation, to tighten the house and reduce our electricity use and costs. HESS's representative, Mohammed El-Ghoul, was extremely knowledgeable, professional and responsive, and he did an excellent job assessing our needs, identifying priorities, and implementing the improvements we elected to make. This was a complicated process, not least because of the need to be sure we would qualify for the substantial rebates offered by Pepco for some of the improvements. Mohammed stayed with us from start to finish, making everything understandable and helping us to make the right choices on improvements. We could not have been more pleased with his service and the results of his work, and we would highly recommend Mohammed and HESS for similar projects.

Mo and his team are amazing, he worked with us and the Hvac company to maximize our rebate, the air quality improved tremendously, his crew was very profesional, very careful, they cover everything before starting their job and clean all after, our attic and garage are properly insulated now. We actually feel the difference.
    Thank you!

Mr. El-Ghoul was great to work with. He came out personally and tested our house with an energy audit and determined exactly what needed to be done. We had significant insulation issues in our house that caused a ~5-8 degree difference in temperature in the master bedroom against the rest of the house.

A few months later and I am happy to report that the master bedroom is completely fixed. There are no drafts, differences in temperature, nor anything else wrong with it. Not only that, but we've achieved Nest green leafs for every single day since then.

The best part of all of this long story is, that Mr. El-Ghoul was able to get us a huge reimbursement for practically 75% of the work. Major insulation cost that cost less than $1000 to remedy! Not only is it more comfortable now, but it is more cost-effective for utilities as well.

I would also like to add that the workers did wonderfully, and were very courteous to our belongings. They also cleaned up spectacularly (like, better than I would have cleaned my own house).

    Thank you!

Very prompt and great communication. Mohammed did a thorough job during our energy audit and explained everything very well. On the day of the work, the contractors were on time and did a great job and walked us through everything after it was completed. We are already noticing a big improvement!

Our experience with Home Energy Savings Solutions was great. At first, we didn’t want to dish out the $100 to do the energy inspection. After doing the inspection however, we recommend every home owner get one done, because it pays for itself. As part of the assessment, Mohammed replaced all the light bulbs with LEDs and all our shower heads with high efficiency ones. Those changes alone will cost you $100. Mohammed also walked me through the house as he did the assessment with an IR camera to show me the inefficiencies and heat loss areas.

For the work, we priced three companies. I sent the energy assessment to each of them and Home Energy Savings Solutions offered to do more repairs and for cheaper. They did the work in one day and reduced our air exchange rate by almost 20%! During the repairs, the workers found a leak in our roof while adding insulation in the attic and gave us recommendations for repair. Mohammed also made other suggestions to further improve energy efficiency throughout the house, little home repair stuff that I could do on the weekends.

Overall it was a great experience and I would hire them again.

It was great to work with Mohammed and his team to improve our home energy efficiency. Mohammed educated us on energy priorities, and answered all of our many questions throughout the process. His hands-on approach to completing the various required paper work for rebates was also a time-saver. The work his team did to our home has improved the energy efficiency of our house. I would highly recommend him if you are thinking about making your home more energy efficient.

Mohammed conducted a comprehensive energy audit of our home, and answered all questions I had, even those not strictly related to services he offered or improvements that he recommended. We hired his team to do the insulation (including duct sealing) and crawlspace encapsulation. They worked efficiently and did the whole thing in a single day (a long day). There were a few cleanup things they didn't do as well as we might have liked (e.g. some spray insulation that came through the attic into a few spaces in our house), but overall, we were incredibly happy with the work, and would happily hire Home Energy Saving Solutions again, or recommend them to others.

We immediately noticed a dramatic improvement in how often our AC had to run to keep the house at temperature, and the rooms that had humidity issues were also noticeably improved. The month after the service saw our lowest energy usage of any month in the last 2 years. It was a cool August (2017), but despite that, the savings was readily noticeable. While it'll take quite a few years for this work to pay for itself (energy costs), the comfort of a much more well-regulated home temperature is incredibly valuable on its own, along with the peace of mind in knowing we're not wasting so much energy any more.

Mohammed and his team did an amazing job at my house!
Joseina (sp?) was the lead a very professional team, and did an outstanding job of protecting my house (with tarps and floor runners), and did a perfect job of cleaning up after the work was done. The team was very professional and their ability to spot, and fix insulation issues was outstanding.
The attic looks amazing, as the team was able to foam insulate the penetrations, and apply new insulation.
I would 100% recommend to this team !

We had a terrific experience with Mohammed and his team. He patiently explained all parts of the process, provided lots of documentation, and handled all of the rebate paperwork. With the project just completed we will have to wait to gauge the energy savings for a while but on this very humid 90+ degree week following the work we can already feel the difference in our warmest rooms being more comfortable.
