Constraction reviews in Silver Spring, Maryland

Mr. Willson and his team did a fabulous job with my cabinet refacing. The professionalism, regular updates and response to my questions was on point and much appreciated. I look forward to them doing additional work for me in the future. Highly recommended.

The team from Wilson & Son was excellent! We had a very large and unplanned renovation (due to water damage), and Wilson’s team worked at our house steadily for 4 months. They did everything: plaster and drywall, insulation, a full bathroom renovation, and painting. The team was reliable, efficient, hardworking and thorough. I highly recommend them!

Urban Referrals directed me to MCS Construction for a home project. The owner of that company, Gil Martinez, came to my home to measure two storm doors and to provide me with a quote to install the doors and to repair the door frames. He told me the doors were 36X80 and made a recommendation on the specific doors to purchase at Home Depot, which I did. We also agreed upon, in writing, a specific deposit amount, which I paid, with the understanding that the balance would be paid upon completion of the stated work. He arrived to my home and was 3/4 of the way through fixing one of the door frames when he told me the doors were the wrong size; now, he told me the doors should be 32x80 and told me, "don't worry, it's not your fault." We returned the doors to Home Depot, and I purchased two new doors in the 32x80 size. The doors were on special order and would take about 2 weeks to arrive. Gil told me his company would finish repairing the door frames when they came back to install the new doors. He also repainted the flashing on my deck which he badly scratched when he haphazardly threw the old screens around without consideration for my home. He asked if I could pay some more deposit monies up front since they were not able to complete the job as he incorrectly measured the doors. I agreed to out of good faith, as Gil told me he would return to finish the job. When I reached out to him to tell him that the new doors were arriving on a particular date, he told me he was now too busy to finish the job he contracted with me. So, he basically left me with a half-finished repair job, no doors installed, and a false promise of returning to finish the job. I am being punished for his measuring mistakes. And by the way, the doors aren't 32x80 either, as a new contractor has determined. I am filing complaints with the appropriate authorities to have the additional monies I paid to him returned, and to let the Maryland licensing board know of Mr. Martinez' business practices. Needless to say, I would never personally use this company again.

We used MCS Construction for a full basement remodel. This induced, moving walls, new lighting, opening the space by taking out closets, installing shelving, re-enforcing stairs, new tile, new carpet and overall painting and repairing of walls. This whole experience was positive. The job was completed on time and on budget. Gill communicated with us through out the process and prompted responded to any questions we had. The workmanship was also high quality. We are so happy with the outcome and enjoy our new space! I will use MCS Construction for my future projects.

David and his team did a great job repairing our ceiling in two different rooms in our home. Timeliness was an important factor for this project and not only did they do a walk-thru of our space quickly but they also provide us a quote for services within 24 hours. They did a great job repairing, painting and cleaning up. They also graciously repainted our living room after the first color that was selected appeared green on the wall. We will definitely recommend them to neighbors and friends.

David has been doing work with our family for many years now. He has also done work for my mom. We have always been pleased with the results. He and his employees are always professional and easy to contact.

The most recent project was finishing our basement and giving it a brand new look. David consulted with us when he had different ideas on how to manage a certain aspect of the work - his ideas were always good!

We would recommend David and Smart General Contractors for anything you might need to have done around your home.

This company was referee to me by my coworker who had work done in her house. I own a rental home in Columbia, MD. I recently had the roof replaced by a friend of my family at a very favorable rate. 2 months later and the roof started leaking. The roofer started to avoid my calls and texts messages. My coworker heard my frustration and recommend me Jose. I explained to Jose the entire story and he was very understanding. He was willing to work with my tenants schedule as to not disturb them since they worked from home. I would recommend to anyone who asks and will call out to him if any other work is needed in my rental property or personal home.

I am so happy to find a construction company I can depend on: These folks are absolutely meticulous in their work. I hired them to repair two doorframes and perform some drywall + paint work. I appreciated how thorough they were in protecting my belonging as they worked, and was incredibly impressed by their results! I can happily recommend Smart General Contractors to friends, family, and neighbors that need any work done in the area.

The smart general contractors made my home my dream house. I wanted my closets, bathroom and kitchen redone to my liking. Jose was willing to work with my budget and gave me a detailed outline of when each step would be completed. I’m so happy on how everything turned out. I love having guest over so I can brag about the work he did for me.

They replaced all my tiles in the entry, kitchen and laundry room with vinyl planks. What a difference. Then Walls looked bad (per my dear wife) and had all painted including the dining room. Wow what a difference. Thank you guys for your wonderful work, commitment and punctuality in showing up on time. ❤️

David and his family have been doing projects for us for years and we are always happy with the results. Highly recommend them for any sort of projects.. ranging from replacing weather stripping to remodeling a bathroom.

Watch out their drivers fail to properly secure their loads on the highway and let debris hit your vehicles. Caused a crack in my windshield; left multiple different voicemails to get this issue rectified with no response. Imagine how they treat their clients and customers when they need help.
