Leaky faucet, leaky pipes, garbage disposal not grinding (and smoking when we'd turn it on)...Colt came out, quickly diagnosed and fixed all three in minutes. Highly recommended.

Tried to support an independent family business via American Home Warranty (AHS). Son of owner assessed our toilet leak as being the result of improper flange height. He said AHS might not approve, but that if we were working directly with them he'd charge what amounted to half the price ultimatley quoted as a non-covered repair on a premium policy.
His independent quote would be $X and after the toilet was up he'd run a snake to make sure all was clear to upper toilet. This sounded to be a courtesy (the kind of courtesy that drives repeat business) - BUT even if not and FINALLY why I bothered to write this:
After some additional reseach to determine that what the son quoted was not unreasonable, I called the company to follow up on his quote to go ahead and hire them. (We could have addressed the breakdown - maybe didn't include the snaking? - then) BUT - the person who answered (Tara) told me that she followed up with the "other owner" who told her that what we had been told by the son was wrong -- not that he didn't say it - instead, that it was wrong - and the re-quoted the double amount rate that they submitted to the insurance company. And we all know that insurance rates are always inflated which is why insurance is such a racket. You needn't look further than health insurance for an analogy - the providers milk them and the customer all too often suffers...)
The same outcome here. I tried to come back to this company independent of insurance and this was my experience which was so upsetting that I couldn't wait to write this review. I will continue to support independent small businesses, but like large ones they are not all the same. This one operates devoid of integrity, courtesy and is most definitley unprofessional.
