I highly recommend McDonald contracting. We had a large and multi-facetted project that they handled efficiently and professionally. From the start of the project to the end we had workers in our house every day (carpenter, plumber, tiler, electrician, painter). They were all very pleasant to work with, did the job well and left the work area clean each day. Jamie was our contractor and he was very responsive to all our questions. The billing from the company was also detailed and well organized. We knew exactly what we were paying for and changes were handled in a very clear manner. We will definitely contact them again if a new project comes up.

Just finished a 2nd floor addition on our ranch home. Working with McDonald Contracting could not have been a better experience. The initial quotes were reasonable and turned out to be right on the money. Ed and his team had accounted for every contingency. Everyone was very responsive and very helpful when issues did come up. We highly recommend McDonald Contracting.

McDonald Contracting did a really nice job remodeling our basement. They were really responsive, the project manager was very communicative. Demolition team, waterproofing team, electricians, painters, flooring installation, and carpenter were very good. They removed old plaster, sealed the foundation, installed insulation, built new framing for the walls, hung drywall, plastered, installed a floor, installed a baseboard heater, installed track lighting, installed new outlets, upgraded the electric panel, made custom build-in cabinets and drawers, and painted. They kept the job site as clean as possible and helped us to minimize dust to the rest of the house. They checked in to make sure everything was going according to plan, and were willing to make adjustments along the way, as requested. We would happily work with McDonald Contracting again.

The Joe and the boys did a great job! The motion detector light to the basement and the outdoor outlets you selected and provided were perfect. And the line for the new microwave-vent hood was done with almost no damage to the wall at all. The little there was will be covered up once the appliance is installed. Home Depot should have no problem installing it when they come. Joe was wonderful from the first time he came to look at the job for an estimate, through the day’s worth of work. The crew cleaned up really well at the end as well. I have no hesitation recommending McDonald Electric in Arlington, MA!

Ed's team converted part of our basement into an office promptly and the result is lovely.

We have done three medium-to-large renovation projects on our current house using three different contractors and Ed was the bar none the absolute best person to work with. He was prompt and clear. He did what he said he was going to do. He was super communicative. He gave us choices and was willing to price out those choices. The people who work for him are lovely and engaging. They were wonderful with our family and nice to our children. We felt very comfortable having everybody who works for Ed in our home.

We are very happy with the project outcome and feel really really good about our choice of McDonald Contracting. We are already looking forward to working with them again.

We have been more than satisfied with our experience using the McDonald brothers build a bathroom addition on the back of our Arlington home. They were professional, collaborative, and flexible. During quoting they were a mid priced option but they were the contractor that showed they listened best, including all the details we discussed line by line in their quote. During construction they were collaborative and flexible, equally happy to leverage their resources and experience or allow us to make our own design decisions and even do some of our own work. The quality of their trades was very high, starting with demo and including framing, masonry, electrical, plumbing, and tile. All the best. The project involved a house that was built in the 50s. We worked with Eds team and redesigned the layout of the house entirely. All that remained of the original house was the foundation and most of the framing. McDonald Contracting basically built a new home.
With regards to the quality of work my wife and I could not be happier. Ed has a really good team of qualified subcontractors and he does a great job of coordinating their work.
The project manager worked incredibly well with my wife and was always available, she had great ideas and added tremendous value to this project.

Completely new roof deck and was able to fix kitchen ceiling leak and finish it all and paint kitchen.

McDonald Contracting handled our master bath renovation with professionalism and first class quality. The project manager was here almost every day monitoring progress and managing the various contractors as needed. I'm involved with our town's community theater, and there were sections of our building in need of serious repair. It's an historic building in an historic district, so care needed to be taken to ensure the work was in compliance with local guidelines. Ed was in touch with the historic commission to make sure everything was done correctly. The crew was quick, did a fantastic job, and they kept us updated every step of the way. We've been working with Ed and his team since 2016 and they've been everything you could ask for and more. From fixing a leaking skylight during a downpour to a total gut renovation, Ed and his team do great work and show up for you when and how you need them to.

Ed and McDonald Contracting recently replaced a large triple picture window and french doors with new Pella products. This is an old house so nothing is easy. They were very easy to work with and kept me posted during the looooong delay in Pella manufacturing. They removed and disposed of the old door and window and installed new ones. They were on time, professional, skilled, and creative where they ran into little problems with installing new windows to an old house. They cleaned up after their work and left everything ship shape. I was very pleased with every aspect of working with them.

The original concrete roof to our garage was starting to spawl and leak and led to internal mold. Ed and his team removed the concrete roof, built a clean looking wood-frame roof, installed drainage around the garage to prevent future problems and rebuilt the failing fieldstone wall. New construction looks fantastic. Phase 1 complete!

The posts extending from the garage roof are in anticipation of a roof deck (Phase 2). Thanks to Ed, Rob and the full crew who helped us through the project.

We hired this team to convert our coat closet to a pantry and they absolutely crushed it. They even had their electrician add outlets inside our pantry, which many pantry contractors said we’d have to hire on our own. We would definitely hire them again in the future for more projects.

Just a joy to work with Ed, James, and the rest of the team at McDonald contracting! I love in a condo association that takes care of most maintenance, but needed someone to address rot in a few interior windowsills, and then replace a storm door.

Mcdonald Contracting finished a complete remodeling of the back deck of our duplex. The crew was able to tear down the entire rackety wooden mess that was there before and built up a brand new one in a matter of a few days. I'm very impressed with the craftsmanship but just as impressed with the quality of service. Every crew member that came to the house was kind, timely, and cordial. Would definitely work with them again!

We worked with McDonald Contracting to finish our 1200 square foot basement in Arlington. From the start, the team was professional, gave us reasonable estimates and details about project scope, and even helped with design suggestions. From there, the project commenced and over time, the team transformed our basement into a very nice livable space that was exactly what we were planning. Special thanks for Shawn's excellent project management which helped move the project forward.

In the end, we ended up with a home theater, a gym, flex room, and storage. We installed mini-splits, relocated some plumbing, and did a vast amount of electrical work. The team took direction and was able to adjust details on the fly.

McDonald Contracting put in a new garage floor in my 100-year-old garage, and did a great job. Prior to them doing the work, every time it rained, the garage floor flooded, because the neighbor's paved area was banked up against my garage and water was running down between their paved area and my garage. Plus the old concrete was all broken and heaved up throughout the garage. McDonald Contracting subbed the job out to Everstone, who did an unbelievably amazing job. They did the garage paving and also carefully dug out a trench between the neighbor and my garage (thanks to my neighbor for agreeing to this), waterproofed the garage wall, and replaced the neighbor's pavers so they looked better than they had before. Jason, from Everstone, did the majority of the work. He was a hard worker, incredibly reliable and responsible, and did everything perfectly, as well as being easy to communicate with and showing up when he said he would. I can't thank McDonald and Everstone enough for doing such a great job. I would use them again in a heartbeat.
