Constraction reviews in Boston, Massachusetts

Exceptional experience with Abacus! They came in after another contractor abandoned our full gut renovation in the South End. I couldn’t be more impressed with the level of professionalism and expertise they demonstrated throughout the entire process. From the initial consultation, to the completion of the project, Mark and his team were not only knowledgeable in their field, but also incredibly approachable and patient. Their dedication to delivering high-quality results while maintaining reasonable rates was truly commendable. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of construction services and I look forward to the opportunity to work with them again in the future.

There is no better general contracting business in Boston. Mark, Lua, and Ger were incredible to work with throughout the process. They actually listened to me. There was never an argument. They were committed to producing a high value product. I was so impressed by the efficiency of their construction process. It was not unusual to have multiple subcontractors on site at once. The most impressive part was the clear communication I received from Mark and the team. They always answered my phone calls, texts, and emails within minutes. They were honest about their limitations and incredibly helpful in suggesting ways to produce a superior product. I could not have asked for a better experience.

Abacus did an amazing job fixing our roof deck in Southie. They were very professional, on time, and communicated progress every step of the way! They completed our project quickly and managed to squeeze in an extra project at the last minute without extending the timeline. We highly recommend them for anyone who needs work done in the area!

Abacus Builders goes up and beyond the level of excellence and always provides top notch service. Such a great group of people to work with in a phases of the project! Highly recommend Mark and his team!

Abacus was excellent to work with! Every person who entered our home was professional and talked us through the daily plan for our project. Gerald and Lua kept us in the loop of everything happening at the house and behind the scenes. Their entire team did a great job from the contractors to plasters to painters. I can’t recommend them enough for your next project!

Such a wonderful experience with Abacus Contractors. This is a talented team who takes pride in everything they do. Such handsome young men and a delight to work with.

My real estate development company engaged Abacus Builders to complete a condo conversion of a 5 unit apartment building in the South End into two duplexes and a single condo. Demolition had been started but not completed by another general contractor ("GC"), who abandoned the project following lifting of the COVID construction moratorium in Boston. In addition, some parts of the building had begun renovation with the previous GC as well but had not been completed at the time of their abandonment. Abacus completed both the remaining demolition of the interior of the building AND completed the construction of the three units. In doing so, Abacus did an excellent job in keeping our bank satisfied and completed the project as quickly as we could have realistically projected. As a result, we swiftly sold all three units at premium pricing. I wholeheartedly endorse Abacus as a very professional, reliable and trustworthy organization, and look forward to working with them again on future projects.

Great craftsmanship, great communication, quick turnaround. They were professional, responsive, and knew how to deliver a great looking deck in a short time.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with abacus on multiple projects this year. They are a pleasure to work with and would recommend to anyone looking for an expert builder in Boston.

It was a pleasure working with Abacus Construction. After speaking with several contractors, I chose to work with them because of their professionalism, experience, and the helpful guidance they provided on different options to repair my decks within our budget.

Lua, the estimator, was very patient and flexible in addressing all my concerns. He and the team always took the time to provide detailed explanations, communicated clearly, and followed up consistently.

The team was easy to work with and receptive to any questions or concerns that came up along the way.

We are very satisfied with their workmanship and would definitely consider working with them again in the future!

Abacus did a project with us last summer, completely redoing our roof and roof deck in Boston's South End. They were extremely supportive during the at times confusing city submission and approval processes, and the end product was excellent. High quality work all around, clear communication, good value compared to competitors, and a shorter project than others had scoped for us. We really appreciate the work!

We were very impressed and satisfied with Abacus’ work on our property. Their level of professionalism and their promptness were fantastic. Abacus was able to complete their work on our house in a much faster timeframe than we expected, which was great for us because we can now get in to our new home even faster. Throughout the process, Abacus’ level of communication was fantastic, which helped ease any stress we may have had during the project. We would certainly recommend Abacus to anyone who is considering them for work on their home as well!

Abacus Builders, renowned for their punctual project completion, possesses exceptional knowledge and adaptability to our requirements. We established a mutually beneficial relationship with them.

Several years ago, I entrusted them with renovations for our residence, which were executed to an exceptional standard.
Subsequently, when we opted to relocate to a larger home, we promptly engaged their services once more, and they delivered another outstanding project on time. Our profound satisfaction led us to recommend them to our friends and family.

I have no reservations giving Abacus Builders my highest recommendation. I am confident that you cannot go wrong by hiring them for your upcoming project(s).

Excellent work, they did a deck board replacement and exterior painting. Estimate came in lower than other contractors, the scheduling was easy, they completed the entire deck board replacing in one day, no change orders, no surprises. Very easy to work with and delivered on what was promised.

Abacus rebuilt our roof deck after the old one had to be torn down to replace the roof. What I liked best was their no nonsense professionalism. I had spoken with a number of other contractors who hedged on this, hedged on that, wouldn't give straight answers. One even came back a week later with an oopsie, we forgot to add x, y, z into the quote and it'll be 8k more. Abacus, came, looked, said this is how to do it, explained everything, found the old permit, got the new one, arrived when expected and communicated throughout. Price was fair, though there were increases from the original quote it was due to a long delay on my end and the arrival of the Eejit Tariff King. There were one or two snafus but that is to be expected with big projects, and they were always remedied right away. e.g. the IS slapped a stop work no permit warning on our door - well there was a permit had the inspector bothered to check -; regardless, the owner Mark answered my email immediately (on a Sunday night no less) and it was taken care of on Monday. Finally, the work product is excellent and I expect we'll enjoy many lovely days and nights up on the deck. I'd hire Abacus again without qualm. (Gerald the project manager is terrific- ask for him!)

We hired Abacus to repair the railing of our back porch and outdoor staircase. From the start, we were impressed by their professionalism and hands-on approach. They were also transparent with pricing and uncertainties. And most importantly, the end result looked great!

We had a great experience with Abacus on both exterior & interior work. What really stood out was how often they checked in and kept us updated—super proactive and always quick to answer any questions we had.

Whenever they had to come inside, they were really respectful and clean, which we appreciated. The crew made sure everything was finished the right way and that we were happy with the results before they wrapped up.

Overall, they made the whole process as easy as it could be with as little intrusion as possible. Highly recommend them if you’re looking for a team that’s professional, responsive, and easy to work with!

We were very happy with the work completed by the Abacus team. Gerald was great and was always available for questions, providing updates, following through with requests and providing his expertise when decisions needed to be made. We truly appreciated his responsiveness. The quality of the work on the project was top notch and was done timely. We would recommend Abacus to anyone looking for a reliable, high quality builder. Thank you

Abacus performed a series exterior carpentry and gutter repair jobs for me. This included replacing sections of posts, beams, siding, trim, and downspouts. It also included work on related mortar and moisture barriers. Throughout the estimation, demo, and construction phases I found that everyone I dealt with was very communicative, flexible, transparent, and constructive. The work was high quality and the crew worked quickly. I plan to work with them again on future projects.

The Abacus Builders team is a pleasure to work with — not only professional, but also practical and solutions-focused. Their clear communication allows projects to be completed efficiently. We have multiple ongoing and upcoming projects with them and would recommend to anyone.
