Constraction reviews in Boston, Massachusetts

Mark and Ger and the whole crew at Abacus are the best. I had a leak in the roof and many of my neighbors had told me they were spending $50k-$100k on work to repair a leak, which invariably included all sorts of extra work. Mark came over unscrewed several Epee boards which they built 5 years earlier. The rubber roof had an opening. Mark sent Gareth his trust roofer and partner over and fixed it for $400. Then a plasterer he knew came over and fixed my ceiling for another $400. You cannot make this stuff up!!! Abacus are the only construction firm we will call or recommend for the duration.

I hired Abacus Builders to redo the entire exterior of my house—roof, siding, and trim. They were not the cheapest, and they also weren't the most expensive. After seeing how much work they did, the price now feels extremely reasonable. Abacus was easy to work with and easy to communicate with. They answered my questions, and listened to my requests. The subcontractors that they hired were very skillful and friendly. Overall I'm extremely happy with the results, and I plan to hire them for other projects in the future.

Thank you Abacus!
I’m really not easy to impress, especially when it comes to my own place, but you guys absolutely nailed my renovation. I’d been seeing their signs all over the neighborhood and figured they had to be good — so I reached out and they got back to me faster than any of the other contractor that I called (major points there). Then they handled all my picky requests without blinking, were super easy to work with, and kept me in the loop the whole way through. My kitchen and bath came out amazing, but the deck ended up being my absolute favorite part of the project. Top notch work! The whole experience was smooth from start to finish, and I’d highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality work. The best by far in the area!

Abacus Builders, led by Mark. Their team is highly experienced and organized, delivering incredible results swiftly. The project management was top-notch, ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish. recommend Abacus Builders for any construction needs. They truly stand out in their field!"

I selected Abacus for a two-story addition to my home after researching, and meeting with, numerous other contractors. What impressed me upfront was not just the obvious knowledge Mark Little and his workers have about construction methodology (I am a mechanical engineer), but also Mark's ready understanding of local permitting procedures, which turned out to be almost as important as his construction acumen. Because the one can't be accomplished without the satisfaction of the other, my permitting and construction processes went as smooth as silk. I never write this sort of recommendation -- this is my first. But I was moved to do so by how satisfying this entire process was, from start to finish. I highly recommend Abacus.

I can’t say enough good things about Abacus Builders. They are the most reliable, go to builder and developer in South Boston and Greater Boston. They show up, do the work, and do it right. I have worked with them on multiple projects, and every experience has been smooth, professional, and exactly what you expect from a top-tier contractor. Every client I have referred to Abacus have all said the same thing, they were impressed with the quality, the honesty, and the way Abacus goes above and beyond from start to finish. Communication is sharp, timelines are hit, and the craftsmanship is first class. If you want a contractor you don’t have to worry about, Abacus is the one.

Abacus planned, managed, and executed on a large scale condo property construction project for us. At issue was poor workmanship defects in the original installation of the water vapor barrier from the original development, that was allowing water to get into units.

The Abacus team was highly engaged and responsive as we worked through the strategy to address the problem prior to them being on site, and this got quite detailed as we investigated the extent of the risk of water with a structural engineer, Abacus and our property mgmt team. At all times Abacus was a partner in answering our questions, investigating options, such as new evolutions in the water vapor barriers, and even removing windows to understand the extend of the flashing needed all prior to even kicking the project off.

This partnership continued through the project. The Abacus team are strong communicators, and they worked with us to ease the burden, and demonstrated flexibility when working with individual unit owners.

Abacus also was sensitive to our budget mgmt. As a condo board we were committed to keeping the project within budget. Abacus respected this, and worked with us, to enable us to understand change orders, and prioritize work / expense. In the end we stayed within budget, and the work effort was fully completed to our satisfaction. (Meaning nothing material had to be traded off.)

I highly recommend Abacus as a partner in home construction projects.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mark and his team on two occasions. It's one thing to hire a firm to work on a rental or a flip, but when it is your own home, you only want the very best. The Abacus team took the time to meet with my wife and me. We discussed our vision and ultimate goals for the proposed remodel. Mark came back with several options, including some great ideas that we hadn't considered. Having an experienced set of eyes review our ideas and plans, and discuss all the available options with us, was huge. We really did feel that the Abacus team was genuinely invested in our remodel. I have recommended Mark & Abacus to numerous friends and family, and I have no hesitation in doing so.

I had an outstanding experience working with Abacus Builders. From start to finish, the communication was clear, professional, and consistent. Every phase of the project was completed on schedule, and the craftsmanship exceeded my expectations. The team was respectful of my home, detail-oriented, and truly committed to delivering quality work. I couldn’t be happier with the results and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, skilled contractor.

I used Abacus for a complete bathroom remodel and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The entire team was courteous, respectful, and highly professional. Communication was excellent throughout the project, with clear updates on progress and any issues that arose. Since this was my only bathroom, they were especially thoughtful about minimizing disruption. Their pricing was very fair for the level of quality and craftsmanship delivered. Even though this was a relatively small project for them, they made me feel like a top priority from start to finish. The final result was a beautiful bathroom, clearly done right and built to last.

Very timely, polite, clean, and great job done on our bedroom. Would highly recommend.

Roberto and his crew did excellent work for me. I really appreciate their skilled attention to detail.

Roberto & his team is great. This was the second project on a different property & they did an Amazing job. I highly recommend them.

I hired their services for a basement remodeling project and I am very impressed with their professionalism and quality of work. During the pandemic time, they followed safe practices at work. The guys are very knowledgeable and made recommendations keeping both the budget and our requirements in mind. Very reliable and professional company. Highly recommend

Roberto and his professional team at Unite Contractors is the most reliable general contracting group I have had the pleasure of working with. They are efficient, detail oriented, and respectful of the job at hand.

I and my building have asked for Unite's help in both Boston and Cambridge on jobs ranging from emergency plumbing and room rennovations to replacing garbage disposals. We could not be happier with the results and ease of communication before, during, and after the job. They are forward thinking and go the extra mile to ensure the work is done properly.

I will continue to call Roberto for help and highly recommend his team. When i worked with other contractors, I have never experienced the peace of mind of knowing my properties are in capable hands. It is obvious the Unite Contractors team takes great pride in their business.

Roberto and his team completed our kitchen remodel, then 2 years later we hired him to complete the front hall and living room remodel. He and his team were always prompt, had excellent communication, attention to detail, and completed beautiful work. My house has been featured in the Boston Globe Magazine subsequently and we have referred him to complete work on friends and families houses.

Worked with Mr Robert on a renovation of our master bathroom. The team did an exceptional job. Great quality. We installed a Zellige tile which was quite challenging to work with and the workmanship was top notch! I also so appreciate Mr Robert’s responsiveness. The overall project was managed very well.

We have been working with Mr. Robert for over two years on a complete renovation/remodel of our 40 year old home. The whole process has been done very professionally with great results. Unite Contractors has a whole crew of very hard workers who do a terrific job on the large projects and small ones as well. We would highly recommend this contractor for any home renovation or remodeling project.

Mr. Robert and Team were an exceptional outfit to work with. My husband and I had our entire kitchen gutted, with a support wall restructured, and we were very nervous about the process. We had never worked with a contractor, but Mr. Robert far exceeded our expectations. He managed us seamlessly through every situation, he was hands-on at our house regularly, and always very responsive to our needs for communication and updates. We did have a delay due to city permit issues, but Mr Robert kept the project moving the best he could, and it was still completed within the given time frame. His team was professional, extremely skilled and respectful. We absolutely love, love, love our kitchen and would recommend Mr Robert and team to take on any project. You are guaranteed to be in great hands by someone who really cares not only about the quality of the project, but also the experience for the customer.

Mr. Robert came to see our place to provide an estimate, and Domingos Fava did the actual work rebuilding our sunroom. They were both diligent, friendly, and did a fantastic job.

My phone has been cut off twice by whoever pick the phone today in this company. Great customer service. Btw, the address blow is wrong. Thank you!
