I hired The Narrow Lane to completely redo the landscaping and drainage around my home. From start to finish, I was very pleased with the professionalism and the performance of all members of the team, from the project manager to the field workers.

Any project will encounter unexpected conditions. In my case, after I retained The Narrow Lane, I realized that I needed a contractor to work with the City to replace my old water line. The firm worked with me to find an excellent subcontractor who worked seamlessly and effectively with The Narrow Lane and the city.

I have worked with many contractors over the 35 years I have owned my home. This is the best experience I have had. If you are considering landscape work, I strongly recommend The Narrow Lane.

We found Ron and the Narrow Lane on Houzz and loved their work. His design for us was exactly what I had in mind. He worked us in to the schedule so we could enjoy our new yard in time for summer. They did absolutely beautiful work - our yard was transformed with a beautiful fence, a newly regraded and sodded lawn, gorgeous plantings and a built in hot tub. It fits beautifully with the style of the house and existing landscaping and patio. We could not be happier.

I hired Narrow Lane for landscaping both front and backyards after a construction project. i am extremely pleased with the professionalism and the diligence with which the team worked. Jeremy is a great project designer and manager. He came up with very creative designs and made our ideas a reality. He was very attuned to our requirements and was quickly about re-do designs to accommodate our budget. When the work started, the team was on punctual and completed the project on time. The overall work looks great, and Jeremy has been following up regularly about the progress. The entire process was very easy and Jeremy and his team know their craft. I never felt that i was pressured into buying or getting something that i did not want. The end product is a yard that i enjoy. I would definitely recommend for any landscaping project.

The Narrow Lane designed and executed on a complete refresh of our yard in Norwood and we're extremely happy with the results. We had a bunch of things done: retaining walls, driveway paving, irrigation, lighting, hydroseed, planting, walkways installed. We did pretty much everything!

At the beginning - Jeremy came up with a great design that optimized space in our back yard. We got more usable yard with more usable parking at the same time while building some organic spaces. The design process was easy and the team brought unique ideas and experience to the table. We know what we like but didn't really have the words to describe it and Jeremy made it quick to converge on a design and cost we were happy with. He was also transparent on the costs of the job - always happy to talk specifics.

During the project - the team was careful, deliberate and checking their work as they went. They were proactive in reworking things they felt needed it, and we pretty much just sat back as they worked to make our home beautiful. We were always given notice of what was happening and when. If I saw something I had a question about, or if we wanted to change something along the way Jeremy was always happy to chat.

At the end - we've met our entire neighborhood through the compliments we get for our yard. It turned out great! The Narrow Lane came back for a final walk through and decided on their own the redo some of the poly sand that had washed away from the sprinkler system on one walkway so it would look better.

We're very happy with how things turned out, and how easy it all was throughout the project. We're had other contractors come out to our home that did good work but what stood out with Jeremy and the team was how communicative, proactive, and easy to work with they were. I would highly recommend going with them for your next project - I know we will!

I worked with Jeremy and from the beginning he was patient with me through several revision plans and meetings before the work began, taking the time to make sure every detail was just right. He listened carefully to what I wanted, offered great suggestions, provided alternate design options and delivered results that exceeded my expectations.

I have a very curious doberman and was worried about the type of plants and trees that would go in the space. Alison, director of design, made sure she took all of my concerns into account. Before I knew it, I received a chart with dog safe plants/flowers with photos, descriptions (including bloom time, aroma type and if they were pest/mosquito repellant). She provided me with more choices than I could choose. Being able to see the plants in place, on the design plans, just made it come together and added to the elegance of their overall work.

Tyler, the irrigation tech, along with Tony and his crew were pleasant, attentive and respectful and very easy to communicate with–especially appreciated, as a woman, working directly with contractors.

Yes, they are on the expensive side, but like the old adage goes, you get what you pay for. The quality, efficiency, landscape design and execution were worth every penny. The finished landscaping is absolutely beautiful, and the entire process was smooth and stress-free.

I'll definitely be calling them again when I am ready to expand on the work they've done. Also, I don’t think I have much of a choice as Jeremy and my dobie are besties for life. 😄

Alison and her team at the Narrow Lane did a fantastic job with our garden! Alison spent time understanding our vision and designed the perfect mix of local and wild plants. Her team of landscapers did an excellent job with the installation - the team was prompt, professional and the garden now looks incredible. We couldn't be happier!

Working with Narrow Lane has been absolutely amazing! From the inception of the project Jeremy, project designer and manager was outstanding! Jeremy was able to create a landscape design which embraced the natural elements of our property with an incredible boulder wall and dry creek, as well as redevelop the landscaping in front of our home completely. With stone paths and new steps approaching our large outdoor patio. Jeremy's team worked with precision and artistry in every boulder's placement. My husband and I joke about our initial call to Jeremy primarily to discuss both irrigation and landscape lighting, but we found Jeremy's expertise so superb that we contracted with him and Narrow Lane to reconstruct and renovate our entire property front and back! We look forward to Jeremy's return in the spring of 2026 for completion of our outdoor greenspace/plantings.

We used Narrow Lane for a redesign and rebuild of our backyard. Worked with Jeremy on design - very flexible and thoughtful about the design, even when we changed our mind last minute. Construction went well - patios built with appropriate foundation, rolled out sod took well. Everyone was responsive and thoughtful throughout the process and in the end it looked great!

Several years ago now we started to seriously think about undertaking a major landscaping project at our home in Newton. We started by looking at what others in Newton and surrounding areas had done and saw things we liked and things that puzzled us. A year ago we started “shopping” for a landscaper who could help us with our vision and after a few fits and starts we landed on The Narrow Lane selected from what we saw on the internet and more importantly how quickly they responded to our inquiry. Within a short time, Jeremy Puz (our landscape designer) made an appointment with us to talk about what we wanted from the yard. Being new to this we decided to do the project in two phases—first the front and side of the house and 6 months later the desolation that we called our backyard. This decision was partially driven by financial considerations but also by a desire to first “test the waters” with The Narrow Lane. The end result of landscaping the front and side of the house was beyond expectations and erased all hesitation to tackle the backyard in the Spring. I have already written a review about the first phase and here is the review for the second phase.

Where do I start? Based on experience with the previous project we put total trust in Jeremy and made the decision to let him have full reign and design the space as he saw fit. The professionalism and skill that German and the rest of the team brought to our project is unheard of. Quality of work is beyond exceptional. So many small things stand out including the hand cutting and placing of stone for the new retaining wall we had installed, the careful measurement and re-measurement of everything that they did, the choice and placement of plants, the care and respect shown to the property in general, and the overall aesthetic is beyond comparison. Granted the cost of the two projects was not insignificant but we absolutely got more than full value from the project and it was worth every cent that it cost us. Conducting the project in two phases was a good decision if nothing more than it gave Jeremy time to really crystalize his design for the second phase. The selection of materials, placement of hardscape elements, lighting controls, and most important, harmonization with the rest of the yard and the house are what set The Narrow Lane apart. The end result is spectacular and we are now known as “that house with the amazing landscaping” by the neighbors and strangers just passing by. In light of the experiences that we have had on two projects now with The Narrow Lane we have turned over all of the care of the property to them for all 4 seasons now. If I could only find a Phase 3 project……

The Narrow Lane recently helped us add some patio space, seating area, and a soake pool to our house in Newton. We worked with Jeremy who was very responsive and helpful throughout the process. The Narrow Lane guided us through design, permits and installation. They were really full service throughout the whole process. The end result was really beautiful and a newly functional space in our lawn. Once construction was able to start the crew was fast, efficient, and courteous. Would highly recommend Jeremy and The Narrow Lane to anyone looking to do landscaping or other outdoor improvements.

After Narrow Lane transformed our backyard into a beautiful outdoor living space last year, we couldn’t wait to work with them again. This year they reimagined our front yard with new landscaping, hardscaping, garden beds, and lighting, and the result is stunning.

Jeremy and Alison had a wonderful ability to “get us” – our style, color palette and plant preferences, and the overall feeling we wanted to create. They were patient, collaborative, and always welcomed our involvement throughout the planning and execution. We were able to make modifications as the work progressed and they addressed any concerns we had.

I want to give a huge shout-out to the crew and to Matt, whose hard work brought the project to life. The team showed up every day with a positive attitude, even on the hottest days, and worked with such pride in what they were building. They became friends to us during the process, and without their dedication we wouldn’t have the lovely outdoor spaces we have today.

Our home now has a cohesive indoor-to-outdoor feel, and the front yard has become a true extension of the aesthetic Narrow Lane created in the backyard. We’ve received many compliments from neighbors and visitors—especially about the unique red maple trellis on the front of the house. One FedEx delivery driver even asked if she could walk up and take a closer look!

It is easy to recommend Narrow Lane for their professionalism, creativity, patience and sense of design. We are already considering another project next year!
