5 Stars!
We recently had James Wu HVAC install a Bosch IDS Ultra heat pump alongside our current gas furnace central system, and the experience was fantastic. Their team was exceptionally professional, and it was clear they were very knowledgeable, particularly with the newer A2L refrigerant. They handled the installation with expertise and efficiency. Great work! -
We had a fantastic experience working with James Wu HVAC and Plumbing. James helped us install a new heat pump and gas furnace, and we couldn’t be happier with the service. The installation was quick, clean, and professionally done. Unlike other companies we spoke to, they removed all the old parts and pipes that no longer fit the new system, rather than trying to reuse outdated components.
James is incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain the benefits of using a heat pump compared to traditional HVAC units, which really helped us feel confident in our decision. He also guided us through the process of applying for the Mass Save rebate, which was a huge help. Overall, James went above and beyond—highly recommend! -
Jame’s team spent three days finished installing two Fujitsu condensers for my house. The installation was professionally conducted, clean and efficient. Strongly recommended!

The contractor communicated well with us, and left the workplace well cleaned every day his crew was here. We are very happy with our newly installed mini splits!

James and his crew are excellent team. He carefully measured my house and provided 2 options (Mitsubishi and Bosch products) for the installation. 4 crews get job done within 1 day, removing the old system and installing the new one, nice and clean. Also like the small surge protector he put on for free. Thanks.

Great service and responsive. James and his team were very respectful of space and neighbors. New Hvac system installation took a lot of work and hours on an extremely cold day but they powered thru. Proactively registered warranty and assisted with mass save rebate submission! Highly recommend such a great and professional team.

James did an excellent job replacing our 25 year old inefficient furnace with a highly efficient modern one. Additionally piping around the furniture was replaced and also a new assembly of pumps for the 4 zones. All piping, pumps and furnace were neatly arranged to generate more useable space and access around the new furnace. Additionally James was very responsive post replacement in adjusting and eventually replacing one of zone pumps to maximize heating ramp up. We are happy with his work.

James provided exceptional service, offered practical and affordable solutions with great patience, and helped a great deal with filing for rebates and credits.
His team arrived on time, performed my condenser replacement and humidifier installation professionally, and cleaned up as much as they could to ensure leaving no waste behind.
I will definitely recommend James and his team to others with great enthusiasm. -
Fast, professional, no surcharge and life saving. My mom's 22 years old furnace was dying, but other things kept getting in the way of her getting a new one during summer months. It officially die on Feb 24th right after the storm. I got James' contract from a friend. It was 9 PM at night, I didn't want to call, so I left a message on his website. He called me within 10 minutes of the message left and went to take a look the next day. Friday of the same week, a brand new two stage furnace was installed without any of us lifting a finger. The price was beyond reasonable for installing a new furnace during winter, before temps rise and right after a storm. Highly recommend!

James Wu HVAC and Plumbing did an excellent job replacing our old furnace and AC with a new Bosch system. The team was professional, efficient, and thorough — clean installation, clear communication, and great results. Highly recommend!

James did an excellent job, His team was fast and went above what was asked. Cost was better than any of the bigger companies in South Shore. I liked that James was the one actually doing the work instead of having a salesman set it up with out me knowing or talking to the actual installer. James is an expert in my opnion and cares about his work. Jsme will not let you down.

James WU plumbing did a great job. Starting with the review of my home Heating/AC needs. James is very knowledgeable and went through different manufacturers options and what features would work best. During the process he was always responsive to questions. James and his team did a great job installing the new system and explaining how it all works. The weather wasn’t great and they showed up on the day scheduled. I did speak to other companies as well and still feel James Wu was the right choice for my new ductless mini splits

After a 3-yr search and MANY bids for a new HVAC, we settled on James Wu, who installed our system last month and proved the research paid off. Below are things I wanted to know before choosing a contractor; maybe it will be helpful for you.
Our situation: 100+ yr old home with current boiler in basement. We recently insulated our walk-up attic - that would both freeze and melt items stored there - with closed-cell spray foam (more research there), added drywall and will use it for storage. This is where the air handler and ERV (for ventilation) went.
Our upstairs is now ducted, with one vent running through a closet on the 2nd floor to 1st floor. We also added a Mitsibishi floor mount unit and a ceiling cassette on 1st floor. So, we had a VARIETY of equipment installed, requiring a contractor experienced in not only ducting, but mini-split installs with both a ceiling cassette and floor mount unit. We did not want the large wall mount mini split units. Our walls/ceilings are PLASTER, (metal wire mesh and cement-based): cutting them is a JOB. And, we wanted the floor mount unit RECESSED.
COST – James was in-line with our other bids, which came in between 27k and 39k, largely depending on equipment recommended, with ceiling cassettes costing more. Many contractors simply would not install them, and wanted to run ducts in the corners of all upstairs rooms to first floor, which to us was a last resort.
COMMUNICATION – James is very responsive to texts, emails, and even more importantly, he is a fantastic communicator. He is very calm, not pushy, explains things in an easy-to-understand way that clearly shows he knows his business. I actually told my husband after he left for the first time, “I think we may have found our guy” just based on his personality and knowledge. He’s likeable, which isn’t a requirement, but definitely helps.
EXPERTISE – This is what truly sets James apart. Our needs were fairly complex, requiring interior ducting, 2 outside units with exterior line sets, and recessed ceiling units, but also RECESSING the inside floor unit into an interior wall. We’ve overseen several renovation projects recently and could tell these guys knew what they were doing. Also, they were perfectionists, and paid attention to details you don’t often find with contractors.
DEPENDABILITY – Not a single missed appt. Showed up on time with clear communication. The job took a week. He also helped with Masssave paperwork. They cleaned up after themselves each day, which we appreciated.
KNOWLEDGE – Extremely versed in Mitsibishi equipment. He's a Diamond Contractor, which extends our warranty, but we’d have chosen him regardless. Every question I had about these units (cassette and floor unit operation, air handler, ERV, outdoor units, thermostats…) he knew the answer to. When I researched anything specific online, from multiple and trusted sources, I found the info he’d given me to be correct. I trust his knowledge and I don’t automatically do that. One example: our ceiling cassette has an internal thermostat and it’s off by several degrees regularly. I researched it and found we likely need an external thermostat separate from the unit to measure the room’s temp. I texted James a photo showing the inaccurate reading and his immediate reply, “you need an external thermostat. I’ll install one.” That’s what I’m talking about.
I don’t often take time to write reviews, esp this lengthly, but I felt it was warranted here. Finding an HVAC contractor is HARD; it’s time-consuming and complicated. And a lot of money. Three years of research finally led us to James and now, looking back, it was worth the wait and headaches in research. I would highly recommend anyone in the market for a new HVAC, especially if it involves Mitsibishi and especially ESPECIALLY if it involves recessing any equipment like ceiling cassettes or wall units, to consider James Wu. He and his team are uniquely skilled in their work.
