Absolutely SO impressed with John and his staff for the work they did at my house. I needed to have my basement wired for an electric kiln, requiring a 220 outlet. John looked at the specs for the kiln we were installing, came to view our space and our existing electrical, took the time and care to educate us on what the best options would be to ensure everything would be done safely and correctly. I really felt so taken care of from the moment John entered our house, to when the whole project was complete. Both John and his team were exactly on time for every scheduled appointment--John even showed up EARLY the first time he came over. John also was extremely responsive to emails, and communicated everything clearly and honestly. I am a true believer in getting what you pay for, and I felt the quote John gave us was worth every penny considering the quality of the work that was done to wire our basement properly and safely. Our building manager who has been working on our house for over 50 years even commented on how impressed he was with the attention to detail and care that was given in installing the wiring. Their work even LOOKS extremely professional. We fired up my new kiln for the first time last night, and everything went perfectly. I feel so confident in their work, and feel so safe knowing my kiln is being operated and powered through the wiring they installed. HUGE thanks to John and his team!

I can't say enough good things about John and his team! We bought a house built in 1884 that was full of knob and tube wiring and they took the time to walk me through what that even meant and the best path forward!

Steve and Gabe basically lived with us for 3 weeks as they worked to update all of the wiring to be fully compliant/replace lighting fixtures/add light switches- they were professional, timely, and always cleaned up at the end of each day. There were 64 holes by the time they were done! Jolt also upgraded our service, installed ceiling fans, and put in a special outlet to allow for a 35,000 BTU air conditioner that cools our entire first floor.

This was a huge project and the cost came in well under other quotes we received - in addition to the excellent service it was also a fair price. You definitely want to call Jolt for your next project.

I've hired Jolt twice - once to recommend and install a floorboard heater, and again to install an EV charger. Both times John was responsive, insightful and candid. And the work was done when he said, for the amount he said, with zero concerns or surprises and lovely service interactions with the Jolt team. Couldn't ask for more.

Highly recommend Jolt for anyone looking for an electrician. We had them come in to install some ceiling fans, new outlets and recessed lighting in our older colonial, and were very happy with the work they did. John was extremely friendly and knowledgable during his initial visit, and felt very much as though he listened and made suggestions, rather than dictated what he thought was best. During the installations, his team was very professional and communicative; they were constantly in touch regarding progress they made and clarifications to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. They were still able to complete the job on time in spite of finding and remediating some issues with the outlets and old DIY wiring. Cannot recommend Jolt enough, and we would happily work with them again in the future.

Feb 25 Update - I've gone to John and his team for the last decade for all out electrical needs and still would recommend Jolt without any reservations.

We had a fantastic experience with Jolt for a variety of electrical projects we wanted to undertake after buying a mid-1950s home. The upgrades included moving from 100 amp to 200 amp, upgrading two prong outlets, adding recessed lighting, adding overhead lights to bedrooms, and adjusting light switches that operated outlets.

John and team were great at communication and transparency throughout the process. They were efficient and respectful of our home during the projects as well. Highly recommend!!

Jolt has completed several projects for us and I couldn't be more pleased with their service! They are extremely skilled, knowledgeable, and professional. Jolt uncovered previous work that was done incorrectly and not up to code and corrected it. I feel safer in my home now! The owner, John, is great and always willing to answer any questions and explain the process. I highly recommend them and will definitely call them back for future work!

John's guys did excellent, thorough work and cleaned up after the job. That afternoon a possibly related issue popped up, and John himself came out first thing the next morning to take care of it. The solution? Replace an old, worn out light switch that just happened to be right next to the work his guys were doing. Very happy with the service!

We hired the Jolt team to replace the water damaged panel and upgrade our service from 100A to 200A at our newly purchased home. John and his team were in constant communication with us as needed and made the process as easy as possible. They provided the quote, and we scheduled them to do the work (their availability was great as well). They pulled all the permits and got the work done in one day. You can tell him, and his team are passionate about what they do, and it shows in their work. I would definitely recommend using them for your electrical projects!

I reached out to John at Jolt Electric because he came highly recommended from some close friends. He answered the phone right away. Every time I contacted him throughout the project, he answered my call. No voicemails!

John was able to quickly schedule a consultation. He took the time to thoroughly explain the project and patiently answered all my questions during the consultation. He submitted a quote on the same day and we were able to schedule something for the following week.

When Jolt Electric came to complete the electrical work, the workers were punctual, friendly, and thorough. I will definitely be using their services again. I would give six out of five stars if I could!

John and his team checked every box that contractors are, stereotypically, NOT expected to check: they were on time, on budget, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Steve, the project lead, took the time to explain any concerns he had along the way in a clear and concise manner. Their pricing was fair, and expectations clear. I cannot say enough good things about these guys. Would recommend and will absolutely hire again for any future work.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — A Rare Find: Honest, Compassionate, and Truly Skilled

We’ve been through the wringer trying to find an honest electrician for my elderly parents who had a very serious electrical issue that was becoming a very dangerous situation.  Over the years, countless contractors have come into their home, many taking advantage of their age and vulnerability — quoting outrageous prices, doing sloppy or incomplete work, and trying to upsell unnecessary “repairs.” It’s been stressful and heartbreaking.

Then we found Jolt Electric — and everything changed.

From the first phone call, John (the owner) was kind, patient, and deeply empathetic. He explained that he had been through something similar with his own family and genuinely understood the situation. He came out to the property himself, assessed the dangerous, outdated, daisy-chained mess of wires and extension cords in the basement — a fire hazard waiting to happen — and told us exactly what needed to be done. No scare tactics. No inflated quotes. Just truth and professionalism.

We had previous estimates from several other contractors for thousands of dollars. John and his team came in and fixed the entire problem — cleanly, professionally, and thoroughly — for a fraction of the cost.  Not only did they do an exceptional job, but came into our home with compassion and respect. It meant a lot to my brother and I.

I had to write an awesome review for John. Jolt electric is amazing. I can’t tell u how many times I have used them but each time I’m impressed with the quality of the work. I had some safety issues and him and his crew fixed them. My husband and I recommend him to anyone who needs an electrician! You will not be disappointed! Jolt installed an EV charger (and the required breaker, wiring, and conduit), and also came out same-day to repair my main breaker which was improperly installed by the builder. Both interactions I had with Jolt were amazing - they were very communicative, going over my options, even those that could save me money, and educating me on what each choice would mean for me. On the day of installation, they were incredibly respectful, and did a great job, even down to the conduit installation being carefully routed in the most aesthetic / concealed way (again, after checking that I was okay with all their choices). I will absolutely be using Jolt for all my future electrical needs, and would recommend them to anyone.

We went with Jolt electric based on our initial experience during the estimate. John is a very transparent individual and will be completely honest with you throughout the entire process along with his team. We personally had no problems with communication throughout the entire process of updating our house with a up-to-date wiring system, and updating our service. Anytime a change had to be made to our original plan that was communicated first and agreed upon before starting it. Jolt Electric, Inc. upgraded the electrical service at my home earlier this year to accommodate a new HVAC system and installed an EV charger. John guided me through the process, answered my many questions along the way. The team got this huge job done ahead of schedule. I couldn't have been happier with the service and quality work - I'd give them six stars if I could!

We have used Jolt to redo the electrical in our entire home and could not be happier with their services. They are timely, knowledgeable and professional. Jolt Electric just updated my old fuse box to a new system and installed a mast. John was very patient with me for a couple months while I got the space ready for the work to be done, given its an older house regulations have changed and items needed to be removed (plumbing). He quoted 3 options to move forward, all were fair. John was great to work with and his crew was also wonderful and friendly. I highly recommend them.

Additionally, town electric just came out to update my meter and told me they were very impressed and to compliment the company I had used as they had done a really good job with the installation.

We were in Salem today and we were in need of a Philips screw driver. We saw this truck and decided to ask if he could help. John jumped in to help us fix our stroller. He was friendly and courteous. We recently had Jolt Electric perform some minor electrical repair work in our home, which was an occasion to reflect on the many years of consistently reliable service we have had from them. In the time we have occupied our present house Jolt has performed multiple tasks for us ranging from a major service upgrade to installing new outlets and light fixtures. We have always found them to be prompt, courteous, efficient and fair in their pricing. Best of all, their work has been trouble free!

Our dishwasher started giving off a burning-plastic smell around 9 p.m., so I searched online and found Jolt through a Reddit thread with great recommendations. I called that night expecting to leave a voicemail, but John—the owner—actually answered. He was incredibly helpful over the phone and even offered to send someone out immediately. We chose to schedule for the next morning instead, and they arrived exactly on time at 7 a.m.

They sent Keith, who was fantastic—professional, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable. He diagnosed the issue—a loose connection in the junction box that caused the cap to melt—and repaired it quickly. He also brought the dishwasher’s wiring setup up to code. The price was very fair, and the workmanship was excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.

The only surprise was that they don’t generally prefer to accept credit cards. We were able to work out a solution so I could still pay by card, but just be aware that it may not be their standard payment option. I understand why—the fees are brutal—and I was happy to cover the fee for the convenience.

Overall, highly recommended.
