We were referred to Mr. Russell Andrew Aney, the owner of Avid Solar, by our brother-in-law, who had solar panels installed by Mr. Aney. We hired Mr. Aney and signed a contract for solar panels. We paid him, according to our contract, a $2,500 initial check. He installed the metal brackets on the garage roof. We gave him an additional check of $4,000 for the permits and applications. He submitted the application to National Grid, but never pulled the town permits. We gave him the third check for $17,500 so he could purchase the Solar Panels. Since then, he has not returned any of our calls. He has not provided any solar panels, and the metal brackets on our garage roof are leaking, which is causing mold on the plywood. Mr. Aney is a personable salesperson, but is not a trustworthy businessman. We are pursuing legal action for the $24,000 that we paid him, and he has not delivered on our contract.

Russ is incredibly knowledgeable, professional and ethical. He knows all the local regulations and rules from top to bottom, and delivers honest and reasonable consult that leads to informed and accurate decision making. Highly recommended.

BUYER BEWARE. We are New England Solar Agency, an unbiased company that helps our customers find the best solutions available to them. We set them up directly with independent Solar companies who will provide installation and service. We met with Russ Aney back in 2016 and believed him to be very knowledgeable and trustworthy. After a very short honeymoon period, we quickly learned of the con artist that he was. He was outstanding up until the contract signings. After that, he was extremely difficult to communicate with and would not follow up on his promises. We moved on from him many years ago and have installed over 200 systems in Massachusetts since. I am writing this review because unfortunately our past relationship has reared it's ugly head. Two customers who we referred to him for installations have called us recently for advice because they are having issues with him. He is ghosting them, so they are reaching out to us for help. We do not have a working relationship with Russ (Avid Solar) because we had to win a judgement in court to get him to meet his obligations. Russ seems like a nice enough guy when you meet him but don't be fooled by your first impression and the positive reviews. I have over 40 years of business experience and consider myself a pretty good judge of character and I learned very quickly the type of person that Russ is. I only wish I picked up on it before I referred a few customers his way. There are many good and honest solar companies out there. RUN from Avid Solar and Russ Aney.

Our solar panels were installed by Next Step Living but the company abruptly went out of business and left its customers in limbo. After seeking out help from several providers I was fortunate to have found Russ (Avid Solar). He helped us get our panels working to maximum capacity and he spent hours troubleshooting and getting to know our system. He was honest, efficient and his bill was very reasonable. We were so pleased that he is now monitoring our system and he recently helped us get back on line after a technical issue. I would highly recommend him.

The BEST! After consulting with 7 Solar Firms, I chose Avid Solar. Russ Aney had the expertise and qualifications for a superior installation. My goal was to have a Zero Net Energy Home and Russ helped me to reach this goal. My electric bill has been ZERO since last April! This includes heating, cooling, hot water and all electric appliances etc.
I highly recommend Avid Solar to meet your needs. He will walk you through the entire process and keep you informed.

Cool options but pricey

Great company with Amazing employees and fair pricing for whatever electrical needs you have.

We've used DMH for a few jobs, including (at first) fixing up a job "done" by another electrician ("done" in this case meaning "sorta kinda complete, but also completely unsafe"). Work has been great, quotes have been clear.

Seamless installation of a charger in garage and subpanel. Team was professional throughout and completed the job with minimal impact on existing walls.

Patrick and Tyler were terrific. left my basement so clean I could hardly see where they did the work. Friendly and they even took a look at my outdoor light that I’ve been having trouble with since they were here in the house anyway.

Pat and Dom were very friendly and professional. They worked diligently and completed the job timely. I am very satisfied with their workmanship.

Had them install our EV car charger through the Qmerit program and added on the installation of 3 new outlets in our basement. They were on time, courteous, professional, left the spaces as clean or cleaner than when they came, and charged very fairly! We'd absolutely use them again!

I would honestly refrain from doing any business from this company. I reached out for a car charger installation and did a facetime and they listed out everything that was necessary and provided a quote, although it turned out to be about 30% more than other quotes i received, I decided to go ahead and confirmed. I insisted that the the electrician came out and also review it and not rely on facetime. He came and thoroughly reviewed it. I then confirmed the quote and requested installation and scheduled it. After several back and forth for days about the scheduling, the day and the hour of installation arrives!!!
SO everything was set.... right....?

A few mins before installation, I was informed that they didnt include additional equipment that costs an additional $660. This is was informed me at the last minute when everything was already agreed upon, reviewed and confirmed!!

I would NOT RECOMMEND to place your trust on this company that held me hostage until the the last minute and tried to upsell and charge me more!
