Strong Builders, LLC. Our experience with Jack Whealan was nothing short of exceptional. Jack designed, created and built the project we are now lucky enough to call our home. From the beginning of this project to the end, our expectations were completely and utterly exceeded at each and every turn. Jack arrived every morning by 7am and finished well past what we would consider quitting time. The ability to focus on our project exclusively from beginning to end brought an expert level of craftsmanship to every aspect of the project. We lost our home, two pets and everything we had ever owned in a house fire a little under a year ago. The town we live in and the community we are a part of rallied around us in a huge way, and for that we are immensely grateful, but when it came down to actually navigating the complex task of rebuilding our life, Jack was a steady guide who always acted with integrity and honesty. While designing and building a new home from scratch may sound like a dream to many, in reality, it was actually extremely overwhelming at a time when we were not at our best. Jack Whealan was the main reason my family was able to be relatively okay during an intensely traumatic and trying time. The pictures of his work speak for themselves as far as quality is concerned. He was there on site almost every single day, usually for 10-12 hours, and he touched every single part of the project with his own hands. Jack’s expertise assisted us throughout the entire process, and every decision or suggestion he made was spot on. During a time that we were not in the best frame of mind to design or make the many decisions that are included with such an extensive project, Jack was there to lead us with no hesitation. He was a privilege to work with. I don’t want to minimize or downplay the actual quality of his work - every single part of our house turned out absolutely exceptional, master craftsmen level quality. I've worked with other contractors who would take days off, or work half-days, who wouldn't return your phone calls or texts for multiple days. Jack made this process headache-free and I'm really happy with the result, the staircase we replaced looks amazing! Could I have found someone who would have done the work slightly cheaper? Probably. But I would be willing to bet anything that the finished product would not look as good and that it would have been a miserable process. Jack managed and executed our basement remodeling project single-handed, from obtaining necessary permits to scheduling sub-contractors. We were in communication with Strong Builders about one project that we shelved during the height of covid. We then came back to Jack with a different project and he met with us to review needs. He submitted conceptual pictures of what we wanted to us. His process is pretty much hands off for the homeowner since he deals with permitting, subcontractors and getting all inspections completed. We are pleased with the structure of the roof and screened in porch that was seamlessly blended into our existing house.

From start to finish the experience with Jack as he rebuilt our deck was excellent. He communicated well on material delivery times, start date and project timelines. He provided quotes for several design options and identified the pros and cons for each so that we made the right choice for us. He has great attention to detail and takes pride in his work. The deck came out beautifully and we plan to utilize Strong Builders for our next project.

Strong Builders did our screened in porch. Working with Jack was fantastic. As one of his previous review's states "renewed my faith in contractors" is absolutely true. He was punctual, had great communication, was clear and up-front about everything. His experience reflected in his work. He is meticulous but efficient. He clearly takes pride in his work. Probably the most bind-boggling thing is that he does the vast majority of the work himself and by himself. He knows the building codes in and out, which made getting permits approved as smooth as it gets in a county that is notorious for being difficult to build in. Jack refused to cut corners and confidently stands behind his work. We will absolutely hire him again and cannot recommend him more.

Strong Builders remodeled our basement and added a bathroom. Jack had a clear vision of the project and he communicated very clearly with us throughout the process. Jack also had an amazing attention to detail. The basement and bathroom look great. We enjoyed working with Jack and we look forward to working with him again on future projects.

Choosing a contractor can be a daunting task. It started with a Google search and reading some reviews, and an on-site consult with Jack. My project was to tear down an existing deck and build a new one, and I wondered if it was too easy a job for him considering he can build houses. He assured me that smaller jobs were fine, especially during Covid where the supply chain was so unpredictable.

Jack was quick to prepare an estimate, and it was much more thorough than other bids where others just summarized "New 16x20' deck" in one line and a price. Jack actually provided a line item inventory of supplies needed, which demonstrated his attention to detail.

Jack coordinated everything - the permit, the supplies and their delivery, the subcontractor needed for the footing, etc. He worked 100% on my job from the day he started until the day he finished, so I never had to worry about chasing him down to continue my project while he was juggling others.

Jack's workmanship is impressive, very detail-oriented and the finished deck is awesome. Jack cleaned up after himself and coordinated the building inspector to sign off. Jack even gave me a referral for a patio contractor to complete my outdoor makeover.

We feel very lucky to have connected with Jack to discuss our rather complex home renovation project, including adding a master bedroom above the garage, connecting the upper level to the existing house, and a large addition off the back.

Jack screened in our 2nd story deck. He did an excellent job in every respect. He was timely, responsive, professional and just overall was a pleasure to work with. He created the plans, worked with the town to get permits (which in Grafton is not always easy), and did extremely good work. Jack doesn't play games with prices like other contractors I have worked with. He was on time and on budget and communicated very well. He does it right the first time and takes pride in his work. My pressure treated deck needed staining every year so the time came to upgrade. Jack from Strong Builders did an amazing job from the planning stage right through finish and cleanup.

He provided many options to look at and helped me find the right colors to match my gazebo and complement the patio stone. Once the materials arrived he worked quickly and was done in a week! The outcome is beautiful -clean lines and detailed work. One excellent feature is the way the screws are hidden so the walking surface remains smooth.

Jack designed and built a family apartment and screened porch for us as well as adding a separate bedroom and bath to the main house. It was a relatively big job that Jack did 90% by himself, demonstrating his amazing knowledge and skills in contracting and building. You won’t regret hiring Strong Builders for any project. Jack was great to work with, from beginning to end. He built a 16x18’ family room with a 16’ cathedral ceiling. Jack was on-site everyday and completed almost everything himself - framing, siding, windows, roof, sheetrock, hardwood floor, fireplace/mantle, painting, deck. Jack provided daily updates and was very transparent when it came to costs associated with the project. He was very courteous of us still living the in house during construction - with two young kids. Jack’s attention to detail, from paperwork to carpentry, is second to none.
