Home Services reviews in Royal Oak, Michigan

Megan and Adam were quite professional, responsive and effective. Looking forward to receipt and installation of the materials required for the agreed upon jobs.
The work was completed as planned, on time and with quality. The entire set of projects was completed professionally by Megan and Adam, with competence and creativity and we plan to use their services in the near future on contemplated jobs. -
He was great, zero complaints. Upon initial walk through explained what needed to be done and the options. After the work was done, walked my husband through the pricing. Showed concern for our possible dislikes of a slightly blocked window or beams to walk around, due to what had to be done. We have zero dislikes and knew beforehand where he needed to put the supports. Was perfectly on time every visit and although we were shifted around in the schedule (due to weather) we did get timely notice each time. We'll call you again most definitely.

I can't say enough good things about this company, beginning with their prompt responses, their customer service, their dependability, the quality of the tradesmen they assigned to my projects, the quality of the work performed, and the reasonable cost. Added to that is that this company met its every commitment. How often can you say that about contractors?
H&H completed a lengthy and varied list of projects around my house for me in preparation for listing it for sale. The result was a beautiful showing and quick sale. When a last-minute accident just prior to closing occurred, I called the one company who I knew I could rely upon to help resolve it quickly, and H&H came through in the clutch.
I love working with this company and now have them on speed dial for my future needs. Instead of taking my chances with various subcontractors and keeping a Rolodex, I will call H&H. -
Adam did a great job on our half-bath redesign. He put up the wood paneling and wallpaper flawlessly. Did a great job with the painting, as well. I will definitely call Hearth and Home again for future projects!

Stephen is very professional and pleasant to work with. The weatherstripping replacement looks great! And he helped us hang several art works that needed a ladder and replaced several doors on relocated cabinets. I will gladly call this company again for home projects.
We just had additional work done by Tristan who fixed everything we requested and he was very professional. -
Todd was professional and pleasant to work with. It is clear that he is experienced and takes pride in his work. The previous owners had mounted a tv and Todd patched the holes (large) in the wall and replaced the crown molding/painted for us. The wall looks like new. I also liked that we received a detailed receipt so that we knew what we were paying for. I am pleased and will refer.

We reached out to Hearth & Home for a couple of projects and Megan was very quick to respond and give us an estimate. We moved forward with the work and Todd was on time and very kind. He replaced our toilet in no time and did a wonderful job replacing our front door. The door replacement had a lot of challenges to it, but Todd handled each one like a pro! I would highly recommend this company for your home"s needs!

We used Hearth and Home to finish fencing in our yard, and they were absolutely fantastic!! We couldn't be there while they worked but setting up the appointment and communicating with them was so easy and appreciated. They sent transparent estimates, updates, and photos, and everything looked exactly how we wanted when it was done! It was also done so quickly. Can't recommend using this business enough, we certainly will be for any home projects in the future!

We loved working with Hearth & Hand on a construction project and painting in our home. They are organized, friendly, and we will definitely use them again as we knock off projects in our 1940s home!

We had an excellent experience with Adam from Hearth & Home. The work looks great and was done with a lot of time to spare. Thanks, we'll be happy to use you again and refer you to friends!

We had a 5 star interaction with this company in the past and therefore decided to use them for a small painting job at our home. The experience this time was not the same. I was provided an estimate to paint my kitchen and my bathroom with a min of 12 hours and a maximum of 14 hours and an estimate of $1765.00. The job was horribly underestimated, leaving us with no choice but to pay the extra time (or he'll leave once he hits 14 hours with the work unfinished) Meanwhile the worker is rushed beyond what he is capable of....which is terribly unfair to the worker because the work shows it. I cant help but to feel cheated.... $561.41 over estimate and lots of touch up work for me to finish. In fact the reason she stated the overage of hours was a second coat being needed in the kitchen, only one incomplete coat was done on the ceiling. I would no longer recommend and will no longer be using this company.

Today was my third or fourth contact with this excellent handyman company. We have a 90-year old home and they understand the assignment! They react swiftly and employ really well-educated tradespeople; they are also kind, cooperative, and respectful people. Support woman-owned small businesses in your own communities and build alliances with strong economic stances! If you want quality work done properly, call Hearth and Home. Tell them Andrea sent you!

Too slow and inefficient, sloppy job, details missed. Too expensive for the limited things they could do - inexperienced, don't arrive on time, yet charge you for the full hour. Don't hire 2 men to do the job, it will not get done faster, but you will just pay more. I got all the tasks done with another contractor for half the price and he did everything top notch.

Professional experience from the initial contact to finish. Great work. Had a new handle put on the sliding door, screen door mesh insert installed and a picture hung.
-
Couldn't be happier with the service! This is a great company. Reliable and reasonable. I highly recommend them.
-
Amazing work done to patch drywall and paint in a couple of problem areas in our ceilings in our living room and basement. Highly recommended!
-
I had new porch railings installed very good quality and a beautiful job Very satisfied with the look and work that was done
-
Adam did an amazing job putting up a wall in our basement. The attention to detail to make sure it matched the existing styling of the basement was terrific!!
-
Very happy with the services provided. I had a time-sensitive need for a mold inspection and Megan was able to complete the inspection the very next day. She provided an excellent, thorough, professional inspection report within a couple hours of the inspection. I am very satisfied and will probably be using them for future needs too. Would highly recommend!!

The repairs were fine and the actual guys who did the repairs were also friendly. These are the only positives you’ll see in this review.
That said.
I’ve used this company many times and I’ve had no issues with them before. You get a contractor you like and you stick with them, in my opinion. Due to my situation, I need to move and needed repairs done to satisfy future owners.
I contacted them to help me with four items on my house I’m about to sell: remove a shed, paint two columns on the front stoop, build two hand railings for my steps and finally to replace two cheap folding “French” doors for a closet. I received a quote/estimate for eight hours of work and happily agreed to the figure that was ~$1700. The words “cheap French doors” were written into the estimate.
What happened next? The repairmen were almost an hour late. When they did show up, they then needed to go to Home Depot for supplies, came back and was only able to do one railing and did entirely remove the shed. Bummed but understanding, I rescheduled the second railing, the columns and the folding doors. I got an invoice the next night for more than $2800! I was like hold on a second - you billed me $190/hour TO GO TO THE STORE?! That is real: they charge you full labor for the repairman/men to go shopping! And to think - we hadn’t even finished **half** of the job and we are already $1k over budget?! I mean damn - I’m trying to sell the house, not put a ton of money into it beyond what is necessary, right? I proceed to CANCEL the folding doors and debated cancelling the rest of the work.
Knowing that they’d already bought the supplies for the railings, I decided to just finish the railings and the columns: They showed up over an hour late (again) and I still get hit with another $600 in labor (after they “waived $80 for my stress”). The four items being quoted at $1700 and then to be charged DOUBLE while still removing a work item altogether?!
They didn’t give me an accurate estimate on the front-end (I was a client ready to spend “free money” to them) and insulted me with how they attempted to rectify it. I would recommend you go elsewhere for your contracting work - I certainly will never refer them again for such a blatant disregard for a residential budget. -
Hearth and Home did an excellent job installing two very complicated tvs mounts. It was our second time working with H&H and they are consistently professional, knowledgeable and easy to work with. Highly recommend!
