I cannot say enough great things about this company. From Emily answering the call to Lucas and his apprentice coming out and fixing the problem. Within an hour and a half, the problem was diagnosed and rectified. What an absolute diamond in the rough to find on such short notice. Thank you all for your concern and help!

I want to share my Bratcher experience with people who are considering hiring an electrical contractor, because mine was, in no way good! I got the indirect recommendation from 'The Inside Outside Guys' (local handyman radio program in Detroit, because everybody in the Detroit area knows about the show and I'm anything but electrically acute!!) website. I met with the owner and went over everything that I was looking for. I received a call from their secretary/office gal named Karen a few days later. She verbally listed out what sounded like the majority of the items that I discussed with the owner and I asked her to email me a copy of the estimate so that I could look it over and discuss it with my wife who was unable to be at the meeting. Karen also told me that the price was Six hundred and some change, so I restated my request for a copy of the estimate. Fast forward a few days, I'm out of town, walking into a closing on a new home and I receive a call from my son, who was watching the house, asking me if we hired electricians, because there were a couple at the door. At that point, I have not received the requested estimate, but I told my son to allow them to go ahead. BIG MISTAKE!!!!! Whoever (two guys) they sent was there for around an hour and I still have undone work. When I got back in town, I followed up with Karen and asked about the items that were not completed and inquired as to why she never complied with my request for a detailed copy of the work to be done. She said that she'd have Mike, the owner, call me back to discuss. There's a bill for $647.00 in my mail pile and nothing else by way of communication. I've got an installed, grounded outlet for my stove, a CO2 detector and a portion of a drop ceiling cut out, so that I can have an electrician gain access to the service if it needs to be worked on. Very, very disappointed!

Approximately 15 years ago I hired Bratcher electric to install a Briggs & Stratton gas generator at my house. They have performed routine annual maintenance and service ever since. They are professional, knowledgeable and courteous.

    Phenomenal company!
Bratcher Electric installed my new electric box (in preparation for a new HVAC system) and two lights. Additionally, they also installed some safety upgrades. Their quote saved me significant money compared to another local electrician. Look forward to hiring Bratcher Electric again when I need more work done.

Awesome experience with them. We had a 20k whole house generator installed. From the estimate, to the end of the install, they were a real pleasure to work with. Real customer service. They are coming at the end of the month to give us an estimate on a whole house attic fan.

Mike came out to my home on June 25, reviewed the work and noted that it would need a Sylvania switch for the fuse box. He said it was an easy job and they would take care of it. I was scheduled for an appointment from 10 – 12 on July 1. At 1:00, I get a call from the electrician, Caleb, that he is still in the middle of another job but he would be there shortly. Around 3:00, he calls again to say he probably won’t make it since he still has another job. I told him that I took the day off and if he didn’t make it, I would just call someone else. He arrived at 4:45 and worked for about an hour. He then shares with me that he doesn’t have the Sylvania switch and they would need to come back. I ask if he can at least remove the live wire hanging out of my wall and he says he wasn’t comfortable doing it since he wasn’t sure which fuse it was. Bratcher Electric calls a few days later once they have the part and sets an appointment for July 10, between 12 -2. Guess what…no show and no call. So I call the company to ask where they were. Karen tells me that she called me that morning to say they weren’t coming out (she didn’t), then she says that because of the storm that had passed through an hour earlier that they had emergencies and would not be coming. So nearly three weeks later, I still have an over the range microwave sitting on my counter with a live wire hanging out of my wall. I should have just gone with someone else.

Nice try Mike! I found your innuendo of me being confused a little rich. The reality is your selective memory certainly does not tell the full story. In your reply to my poor review of your company you stated that you sent me a quote on the 14th, not true. I called your office on the 14th stating that I did not receive the promised quote. Eventually I did a quote along with an apology from you stating that you sent it to the wrong email address. You said I hired my neighbor for the panel upgrade, not true. I never said that. I’m not aware of any neighbor being an electrician nor do I have any acquaintances that are electricians. FYI : I never had the panel upgrade done at that time because the company was a no show. That’s why no permit. Finally you left out the last conversation we had when I asked for a quote for the generator only, because circumstances had changed. Your response to me was that “you would have to come back out to inspect the upgraded panel to make sure that it was prepped for a generator before you could give me a new quote” You told me you couldn’t come back out til the week after Christmas and were aware of the fact that we needed a signed contract before the end of the year for kohler to honor the rebate and extended warranty. At the time you were unaware that the panel had not been upgraded and you never returned my calls and never came out. The ironic thing is that’s why I was calling to let you know not to come out because the work had not been done. Mental telepathy I guess. I just wanted to thank you Mr Bratcher for saving me from a potential headache doing business with you. As far as your last comment that it was no loss for you, to the contrary you not only lost a customer you also lost an opportunity for any referrals. No hard feelings, just the facts.

Our generator needed major repair. The owner came over to give us a quote and explained exactly what needed repaired. The price was 1/2 of what the Kohler factory representative charged. They came out and charged $700+ to fix a few wires that the mouse chewed and it still didn't work. Thank you Bratcher. We are also on a schedule with them to check it out every year.

Ii was referred by the company I was using for the ten years I lived here. As they were Retiring.I made An appointment immediately for routine maintenance beginning of this year. Let me say Lori is rude consending and unpleasant if you question anything. I explained I had a fault code that keeps popping up when power goes out.I was told every thing was checked out and it was working in performance check. Fast forward to power outage August 2021. My generator started for 2 mins and failed with the same fault code. I called rude Lori and explained all of this. We had exchanged words before when I started using them as well. Either way they sent someone out he didn't perform any repairs and simple resent the code . I have been resetting the code for 10 years that's not what my call was for I needed power my sump pump failed and the generator . The guy stayed a total no more that 15 mins from pull up the leaving. My son was here and he said the technician said he doesn't know much about it because it's older. Well guess what the generator failed with the fault code justbafter he left. He didn't check anything or try and resolve or give an alternative. I called and called no response for 24 hours. I left messages about what was going on and asked for the owner to call because Lori is rude. I know consumer law and I plan on using it. I was sent a bill for 220 dollars this October. I call Lori again to ask what the heck. Still rude. I still have not got a call from owner since request in August. I sent emails and all. No response. I will be delivering my letter certified. With the law codes infringed upon. FTC and BBB will be notified. Don't let these businesses take advantage of cumsumers .. looking forward to resolving this issue ASAP. Owner not Lori. Ty kindly. Updating again because this owner never got back with me and never addressed that the technician they sent out to do a tune-up did not do it correctly or didn't perform it at all I finally got a company that I have trusted in the past to come out and get my generator back and working condition after a few years of it not complying. The issue started after I paid this company to come out and do a annual tune-up and maintenance carry it with my paid invoice of $ 250 my preliminary report from the company said that the spark plugs were not gapped properly. Which made my $250 payment a service really not rendered. It's a shame that I called emailed and sent personal letters to the owner and he disregarded everything by not even replying. Obviously I was scammed out of $250 the individual that came out did not know about my system and he even reported that on one of the visits post the maintenance tune up..horrible service horrible....

We had a great experience with Bratcher Electric! Alex and Tommy were very patient and professional while explaining every question we had while updating our electric service.
DTE told us we needed to have it updated ASAP. They worked with us to get it completed in a timely fashion.
    Thanks again!!

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Very shady business with shady business practices. I hired Bratcher Electric to perform annual maintenance on my generator. The guy came and changed the oil / spark plugs with after market parts. When he went to replace the battery, he shorted the positive cable and blew the 7.5A system fuse in my generator (You'll see how I came to know later on). He said the generator needed a firmware update, but didn't have the software and would be back to update it. Unfortunately I lost power a week later and to my surprise my generator didn't kick on automatically and the generator itself had full loss of power. Lost all the food in my fridge / freezer and had several powerless days to where I couldn't work from home. My generator was working fine before the initial service, so I had called Bratcher Electric again and have them send somebody out to diagnose the issue. Nobody had also called back about the firmware update. I mentioned the fact that it was pretty weird to suddenly have issues right after the tech came and serviced my generator. They sent two different guys (I suspect the owners) to investigate my generator. After two+ hours and "checking every wire", they said they could not determine the cause and it would be best to replace my generator's electronic controller as the battery wasn't receiving a charge so it must be the controller. They said they have never seen this issue before. I asked them if they would comp the time it took investigating the issue the 2nd time around (since it seems like it was the fault of the 1st tech) and they said no. They said they would come back with a quote, and if I wanted to they would proceed with the installation. At this point, they had about ~$500 in labor and parts they were going to charge me. Since then I have not received a single call back from the company (even at the time of writing this review). 2 weeks pass and I'm starting to get fed up with the constant lack of communication and suspicious circumstances (along with wanting my generator fixed), so I hired a legitimate Generac service company to come investigate my generator and document their findings. Right after opening up the enclosure, the dealer was surprised it was serviced recently. He showed me the air filter in my generator which was filthy and not replaced as per a typical maintenance check. Within 15 minutes, he determined that whoever installed the battery had shorted the fuse inside the generator which caused the internal charger not to charge the battery. After replacing the fuse (which caused most of my issues to be resolved), I had the dealer look over everything else in the generator. He noted that on top of it all, there was a surplus of oil put into the generator and corrected that. Since then, I have called Bratcher Electric several times in order to resolve this issue and ensure I'm not billed for their faulty servicing. Each time they say the owner will call me back, but nobody has reached out to me since the initial service. Bratcher Electric caused me to directly lose $1200+ from spoiled food, loss of wages, and the costs of me having to get a Generac dealer to diagnose and fix the issues of the original maintenance tech. I wasn't going to come after them for damages if they had actually reached out to me and wanted to work to resolve this, but it seems I have no choice but to take them to small claims court to prevent them from forwarding my invoice to debt collectors.

I had the privilege of meeting Mr Bratcher who visited my home for electrical work. Mr Bratcher was respectful of me and of my home, The next day Karen from the office called with the price and went over in full detail of the work that was being done after speaking with her and agreeing with price and job Mr Bratcher had his crew out in 3 days. The guys that did the work showed me everything along tbe way making sure it was just the way I wanted it. The crew was extremely professional and I felt they treated my home and property like it was their own personal property, one of the crew members even took time to polish of my washer and dryer because they was working above it.
These guys did an amazing job and did it in the most professional way possible treating me and my home as if I was getting the white glove services. Mr Bratcher I thank you sir, You, Karen and the crew are amazing. L. Sowers

Kudos to Bratcher Electric! My wife and I just had a Kohler Generator installed by the crew at Bratcher. Chris and his partner (I'm sorry-I missed his name) worked from morning to night. It was a big job, but they treated our house as it was theirs, making sure they didn't make a big mess. Much appreciated. We had three companies give us bids for the generator. My wife felt the most comfortable with Mike Bratcher and his company. The owner came to our house to give us the bid himself. Personal service goes a long way today in our opinion. We highly recommend this company. David & Emily Jarrett

Called Family heating and electrical to have a portable generator transfer switch installed. Couldn’t get an estimate for six weeks. Called Bratcher and had an estimate within two weeks. The service professional, clean and on time. Alex took the time to teach me how to use the switch. Very happy with Bratcher Electric.

We have done business with Bratcher Electric since January 2016 at which time they took over the maintenance of our generator and that of my mother's. They have always provided polite, on-time, professional service, and we have always rated them a 5-star business. Last night (after business hours) they again proved their professionalism when my mother's power went out, and much to our surprise her generator did not go on. The owner returned our call within 5-10 minutes and had a service person out within an hour. The culprit - a battery which tested fine at our six month performance check. Bratcher had my mother's generator up and running within 25 minutes of arriving. Bratcher has earned their 5 star rating!

I gave Bratcher Electric ample time to reach out to me before I decided to post this review. They simply don't care and sadly must have so much business that they feel they can treat prospective customers poorly. This is honestly the most unprofessional company I have ever dealt with. I am a business owner myself, and I know a bad review is hurtful to a business, so I always attempt to contact the business and give them the opportunity to remedy a problem before posting any negative comments about them. Unfortunately, I've made over 10 attempts to contact them, specifically Eric Bratcher, the owner's son, but nobody seems to care to call me back, respond to the messages I've left, or the emails and texts I sent.

After all of the power outages that happened over the summer due to bad weather, myself, my father, other family members, and several neighbors decided it was time to invest in a generator. In total, there were 8 of us that wanted to purchase a generator. We did our research, and decided we wanted to invest in the Kohler brand of generators. I went on Kohler's website and found Bratcher Electric was a direct dealer for Kohler. Bratcher not only sells Kohler generators, but they also install them and service them. This is exactly what everyone wanted.

I took it upon myself to be the spokesperson for the group assuming it would simplify things for us and for Bratcher. After calling their office multiple times, I made 8 separate appointments to get estimates for each of the 8 homes. The estimates were scheduled on several days through the month of October. All of the appointments were set with Eric Bratcher, who I later find out is the owner's son.

As the spokesman for the group, I took away from my time to meet Eric at 8 different homes. The appointments were grouped up on 3 different days, so I spent a good amount of time meeting Eric at each house on each of those days. At first impression, Eric seemed very knowledgeable, was a likable person, and seemed to represent his company very well. I honestly liked Eric at first and everything he explained about Kohler generators and Bratcher Electric. I was gaining more trust and confidence in Eric and Bratcher Electric as each appointment passed.

Unfortunately, here is the sad and disappointing part of this entire experience. It is now 4 months since all of the appointments were completed, and we still do not have any of the 8 generator installation estimates we have been waiting for. I am a very easy going person, I am very polite, and I am very respectful and considerate of other business owners. As I mentioned before, I own my own business and I know business owners are experiencing challenging times right now, but there is absolutely no excuse for the bad treatment, poor communication, and lack of respect for the time I invested with this company. I've been ignored and completely lied to for the last 4 months. Eric Bratcher should not be the face for the company that I'm sure took decades for his father to build. He is a disgrace and the lack of customer service and appreciation Bratcher Electric has shown towards 8 new potential customers makes it clear that they do not deserve our business.

I will be contacting Kohler directly to make them aware of how this dealer is representing their brand and the other 7 people in the group will be posting their own individual 1-Star negative review for Bratcher Electric. I'm sure our business will be appreciated elsewhere.

Owner Mike Bratcher didn’t seem interested in putting a deal together for a whole house generator. I called several times and rarely able to speak to Mike. I was told by staff that Mike was on the phone and would call me when he’s off the phone. Never did. I called the next day and asked Emily if Mike didn’t want the job, she assured me that was not the case. She said Mike Bratcher would call me the next day. Again he did not. Mike Bratcher was supposed to come to my home this week12/27-12/30 a no show. Due to Mike Bratcher, I lost out on a program from Kohler that would have doubled the warranty from 5 to 10 years and also a $650.00 rebate. As someone who likes to get things done this company has not been willing or able to do the same.

I purchased a whole house generator from Bratcher Electric in 2014 and their service and support has always been excellent, however, I am reviewing the company for another reason. My power went out from wind damage on Saturday and I was shocked and very upset because for the first time ever, the generator did not automatically come on and I am a new widow who was facing being in a dark home by myself. I called and left a panicked message on Bratcher’s emergency contact cell phone, and Mike Bratcher called me back within minutes. He then followed through on arranging for a service call to fix the generator! To make the whole situation even more special, the repairman fixed the generator and then said “no charge” whenI asked how much it would be! I am so grateful for and blessed by this whole experience, and I would recommend Bratcher Electric for any of your electrical needs!

Installation and maintenance of whole home generator.

In the summer of 2022 I paid Bratcher to check out a problem with my generator where it would rev as it ran. I paid them a lot of money. The claimed they found no problems. They refused to come out again even though the problem kept reoccurring.

They refused to speak with my about the problem and even put my phone number on a do not answer list.

    Update:
I brought in some competent technicians to fix my generator. The problem was due to the fact that Bratcher installed incorrect spark plugs at some point when they did maintenance on my generator. So they accepted money for doing maintenance and did it wrong. Then they accepted money to find determine and fix the problem with the generator. And they did nothing. And then they would not answer my questions or follow up.

I had a whole house generator installed by Bratcher Electric in October of 2021. As a part of the installation process they were responsible for arranging for the city inspection of the generator that was installed. They failed to schedule this city inspection and as a result I had to schedule the inspection myself when selling my house in February of 2023. The inspection process consisted of a technician from Bratcher Electric coming out before and after the city inspection. The technician who came afterwards assured us that we were all set. However, a few days later we lost power and our generator did not come on. As a result my baby and I were left without power for hours which was what we wanted to prevent when we got a whole house generator in the first place. When a technician did come out to our house it took him seconds to see that the generator was left in the off position from the inspection. For this few second visit we were billed $250 and blamed for the generator being off despite the generator being in working order prior to the inspection. We received no apology for the incident and then as a "courtesy" were offered $125 off the bill. I am very disappointed in Bratcher Electric's refusal to take responsibility for the situation and poor customer service. I will not be using or recommending their services anymore.
