The initial service fee (just to drive to the house) was cheaper than other places I called. However, how the pricing works is the company has a printed set of items included in the next base price (I don't remember exactly, but between $350 and $400). The good news is that you will know exactly the cost IF it is one of those items (things like basic electric, simple parts....) and it won't matter if it takes ten minutes or ten hours. Then there's another set cost for a higher bracket of repairs. I was nervous I would pay a lot for a ten minute fix of our AC - but went ahead because I have also been disappointed in paying by the hour for professionals in the past who took a long time to repair things.
In the end I was extremely happy with the service. I think the visit was about two and a half hours. The technician was very thorough in his examination of the entire AC unit. He explained things as he went, addressing the main problem (mouse chewed through the wires) as well as accessory issues that caused (weakened parts in the system). He told me exactly what to expect from that, and did not push to replace parts today that could break down in two months, or ultimately still work for two more years.
The best part is I received an email that includes all of the pictures he took of the system, plus explanation of important things to know about the condition of the unit, advice for future care or what to expect for the life of the unit or other aging parts of the system. I really appreciate having this information to be able to enter any future conversation about unit repairs with confidence and knowledge that I didn't have prior to this.
That initial price was scary to commit to, but I felt valued and respected as a customer. I really felt like it was worth it, and that I would recommend going with this company if you don't already have a trusted technician that you have hired in the past. -
Mike our service person was very professional. He was knowledgeable and a good communicator. He was also very pleasant and courteous and timely and his appointment arrival. I was very impressed by his knowledge level and ability to communicate things in great detail as that is what I requested. I feel very well informed regarding the situation here, and very confident and happy moving forward due to the service Mike completed at our residence today. We not only have a good point of starting from today but also have a good plan moving forward into the future to solidify a high safety and efficient furnace system.

My furnace and air conditioning units were thoughly checked out for possible issues or malfunctions. Pedro and Tyler were very personable and answered all my concerns for the time being. There was damage and replacement of parts or components and possibly more. Tyler will contact me this evening for further details. My experience was excellent. Vladimir came for the installation of my heat exchanger the next day. I was very impressed with the knowledge and expertise I witnessed as he worked to tear down and completely rebuild the ductwork and exchanger coil. I’m confident my furnace will last for many years to come

I highly recommend Service Today! They did an outstanding job for me! The service Tyler and Joe gave me went above and beyond! I had to update the circuit panel plus so many other things had to be done. They explained everything to me and gave me options to get things fixed. They were very informative and the customer service was unbelievable fantastic! If I could leave 10 stars, I would. Please give Service Today a try, you won't be disappointed!

This is the first time a service provider didn’t come across as it was all about the money. Safety first and though I didn’t plan to spend what I paid, they were empathetic. Above all my technician has the kindest of hearts. Arrived promptly, flexible as I worked from home, patiently navigated through my joyous and chaotic doodles. Didn’t leave until my dishwasher worked though I said he could so he wouldn’t miss other jobs. Will hire gladly again. Thank you for having a heart and head(knowledge) also finding a good balance between those.

Had electrician Jake and plumber Jeff here on 2 different days- AWESOME service, great communicators, reviewed things that I didn't even ask them to do, which is great info to help protect my home. Very personable and listen well. Two of the BEST service people I've ever hired! I also had plumber Jordan here just yesterday and he also was absolutely excellent to work with! VERY satisfied with all of my interaction with this company. Highly recommend.

The technician, Mike, was very kind and professional. He explained everything to me about my furnace in simple terms that I could understand. I appreciate him and all other technicians from Service Today that have helped me out over the years in my house. They are very proactive, always come same day, and have fixed many things in my house! I 100% recommend them!

GOLD STANDARD SERVICE.
I called to get a consult for a water softener leak in the morning. 3 hours later Tom and Jake were at my door.
They had absolute familiarity with my home's plumbing and heating systems, and expertly guided me through everything I needed to know.
Plumbing and heating are complex. Make this company your go-to for honest, reliable, affordable work. -
Tanner, the service technician, was amazing! Very knowledgeable and took the time to explain the procedures he was doing. I had a Ring doorbell installed. Tanner did a beautiful job! He spent time looking at other electrical issues in my house and answered all of my questions. Tanner made suggestions of future work I may want to consider, but there was no pressure to have it done. He just said, “while I’m here I might as well look over your whole house.” Tanner was personable, and just great! I will definitely be working with Service Today again based on today’s experience! Great company!

I finally got tired of replacing air filters and decided to have an electrostatic filter installed. Turns out it's now possible to add-on UV light sterilization (shown to be effective at neutralizing airborne viruses) so I decided to get that installed as well.
The whole thing is not cheap, but for us (wanting to get back to normal life, hosting gatherings, etc.) it's worth it. They offer 3 levels of air quality treatment systems. Mike L. was helpful in figuring out which would work best and the final installation looks great and works beautifully. I'm mostly just into the tech, but the wife (who is picky about smells) said she really noticed the difference.
(IN PHOTO: UV/ozone filter has the green & blue lights; the 1" electrostatic filter just fit inside old filter cavity on bottom/angled.) -
Another amazing experience with Service Today! Had some major projects while remodeling an old Saint Paul home that involved replacing a lot of damaged wiring, running a new 220 volt line, replacing switches, installing a new fan, and a motion light fixture! They sent out 4 very professional and extremely knowledgeable team members that worked hard to find the right solution and make sure things were set up exactly how I wanted. Their team made sure to explain everything in depth and provided above and beyond quality! Very special shoutout to Jake S, Dylan D, Kiefer P, and Dylan H! I highly recommend this company and will continue to use their services with all my future indoor or outdoor electrical, heating, plumbing, and HVAC needs.

I called for help getting a smart thermostat installed. The technician who came over was very nice and professional, but it was “policy” that he do a whole house checkup first (this took much longer than I was banking on) and “policy” that he call a higher up to get advice multiple times and “policy” that they pitch a bunch of other fixes to me before even discussing the one service I thought I was purchasing. When I finally got the price for the thermostat install, it was super high — well out of the range I had seen online.
I declined all services, then they suddenly were able to throw in the thermostat installation for free. I feel like the work he did was good, but it’s only half done and I need to call to schedule the vent cleaning. I’m nervous about leaving this negative review before I’ve received all of what I paid for, but they keep texting me about it.
tl;dr I did not enjoy the bait-and-switch or the high pressure sales tactics. I eventually brought this one service from them, but I won’t be signing up for their monthly plan or calling upon them for HVAC services in the future. -
Customer service is very friendly. I am however disappointed in the lack of communication about when they will arrive and when they are running late. The first day the tech was on time and great to work with. The second day we where scheduled to have a supervisor. 45 after my arrival window past and I hadn't heard anything I had to call the company to find out he was running late. It was 3 hours later that I finally heard from supervisor. I rescheduled the supervisor to come the next day and he arrived within the arrival window. The supervisor was very nice and explained well the situation. I would have given more stars but feel the company fell very short not having someone contact me with updates. I call or even a text to let me know they where running late would have prevented the fewer stars. If I may make a suggestion I would highly suggest having techs and supervisors call or text with updates. Especially if the arrival window has already past. Other then that the tech supervisor and the crew that installed the new furnace did a great job.

Initially I gave them a high rating, but afterward I felt scammed. I used a Groupon to have them do an inspection and I knew that, if they had to do more, I would have to pay more. The first tech came out and he was great. Really nice. Showed me all the issues with my dirty condenser fins. Charged me a fair price to clean them and clean out the unit. He had mentioned that there were some problems with pressure on the HVAC inside and he called for a new tech to come out.
Classic "good cop/bad copy" situation evolves.
Second guy comes out and analyzes the air flow in my house. Starts to tell me everything that is wrong with it. A bit of rust on the outside of the heating system heat exchangers tells him that there must be rust on the inside and they're probably going to fail. We installed the system new in late 2016, so this is kind of a shock. It was installed by the predecessor to this company, which I guess they bought out. Anyway, I digress.
He then tells me that the ductwork is creating all kinds of pressure problems so my system isn't working at it most efficient. He whips out his iPad and they have several levels of options I can choose from. The first one, called "Band-aid" (nothing wrong with a little push marketing, right?), will cost me $5100. Yes, that's five thousand folks. As the service levels go up, all the way to completely replacing most of the ductwork and re-configuring the entire hvac in my basement, they go up by increments of a couple thousand each. He then tells me he can call his supervisor and he might be able to swing a discount.
I felt like I was at a used car lot. This was the first time that I had had someone come out for an inspection. I had avoided it because I thought they were a scam. I'm glad good cop showed me how to clean my condensers. Easy DIY. I'm pissed that the whole show was like a sales pitch for a timeshare in Florida. -
They got the job done and I have no problems with the work at all, and I liked Pablo, the technician they sent. They were also able to respond very promptly, which I appreciated. They were, however, very expensive, and very pushy. I believe that they had my best interests in mind, but I had to have the same upsell talk four different times, and it rubbed me the wrong way. Additionally, I talked to another company later, and they seemed very surprised at what Service Today had charged me. If you want quality work and a state-of-the-art HVAC system, I'm pretty confident that Service Today can help you. If you're on a budget and just want the problem to go away, they're probably not the right fit.

Since you ask: get ready:
We are using Same Day because when we first called you said the person who comes has everything in the truck to get the job done.
Not true today. It’ll take two more visits to get anything done.
We paid over $400 tonight and Pedro (very nice guy) has left but the humidifier is not working and the duct is not connected. At this high price all I got was information. I expected better. He should have the skills and the materials to do what we informed you needed work.
This is not your first time here. A few days ago you came to take a look at our Sump Pump tank and took a look only to tell us you don’t work on Sump Pump tanks. Why did you send someone to take a look at work you don’t perform? We were glad you, appropriately, didn’t charge us for that visit.
My confidence is not high so far but you have two more visits to raise it.
Thank you. -
One of their technicians came out to give us an estimate on adding a new outlet. He appeared to have to follow a protocol unrelated to what we were asking for. He tested outlets around the house, then put someone from the office on speaker phone to try to sell additional services. This was annoying, and a total waste of my time in my work day. Rather than having an efficient visit for the technician to gather the information needed to write the estimate for the work, he had to go around and test unrelated outlets and make me sit through a fear-mongering sales call, adding 15-20 minutes to the visit. Their estimate came in $500 higher than the other estimate we've received so far. I will NOT bother with this company again. The technician was courteous, but clearly made to follow a protocol that does no favors to the customer.

John was very prompt at coming to my home. He performed the job I needed with the cost expected. He was very engaging and made sure all questions were answered. I would recommend over and over again. He had scheduled today appointment for an electrician. Perfect for John.
Tried using them again. The second person I used for electric fan install. They quoted me $5k and the person that could do the job didn't want to do the job on the spot because they 'did their time'.
After that going from best to worst service. I will no longer use them. I did manage to follow the communication process for rating them afterwards, which gives the prompt of getting a call back from management and I never received a call back. I assume they don't care and don't want my business. -
Although I have no doubt they do good work, their prices for electrical work are astronomical. Do yourself a favor and bring your business to a local mom and pop shop, you'll get a much better value. I called to have them quote a replacement 100 amp panel in the house I was selling, they were able to get it scheduled quickly and the technician arrived in the designated window of time they had said. There were a few red flags though, first the technician had to call a supervisor to check to see "what the local inspectors would be looking for". I would expect the technician to be aware of things like that, I realize the code was just updated in November but still a bit surprising that he mentioned that. Secondly, he spent 5 minutes going over a brochure with me about how great Service Today! is and how many good reviews they have, I really don't need your marketing pitch when I just want a quote on electrical work. Finally, he showed me the price for a couple options and I couldn't believe it! They quoted $4800 for the most basic option, a panel replacement only. I ended up having a licensed electrician recommended by a friend do the work and when all was said and done it was $1700. Will not be calling them again in the future.

They have replaced my furnace and been to my home for other smaller plumbing needs. Always on time and professional. They have a "fix it first" attitude and are upfront about costs before doing any work. The people they send have always been friendly and never made my wife, or I feel dumb for asking questions.
Have to downgrade my review after my last experience. Will keep the old one up because it is all still true.
I called for service to my AC unit. When they were out at my house, they looked at the unit and said it looked good and that the problem must be in my furnace. They then came back two days later to do the work. They upsold me on vent cleaning and other services. When they were done, they tested to see if the AC turned on, which it did initially, but turned it off because the weather had become cooler. Fast forward to three weeks later, and my AC will not turn on. I feel like I was sold on services not needed. I paid over $2000, and still do not have a resolution for the initial reason I called. -
PROCEED WITH CAUTION IF HIRING THIS BUSINESS!! I recently called them to install 2 new ceiling fans in my house. When I called I let them know that these were new installs and they would need to cut a hole in the ceiling. They said that’s no problem and scheduled me for service between 2 and 5 a couple of days later. The day of the install I waited and waited and at around 4:30 I got a call saying they were stuck at another job and couldn’t make it that day but scheduled for the next day at the same time (between 2 and 5). I told them again that it would be a new install and they again said no problem. The next day the service tech arrived with NO TOOLS only a small briefcase and an iPad. When he arrived told him about the ceiling fans and cutting a whole in the ceiling. He spent the next hour checking every outlet in my house for “drop” and then “presented” his findings to me and tried to sell me a service plan. After his presentation I asked him when he was going to install the ceiling fans and he told me that he didn’t have time because it takes 8 hours to install 2 ceiling fans. When I told him that they were supposed to have shown up the day before he started apologizing and saying there were big communication problems in the company. He could sense my frustration and anger and asked if I wanted an estimate. I told him he could give me an estimate and I would decide if I was going to use the company. I was SHOCKED when I saw the estimate. The estimate he gave me was $4000. Before he left, he made sure to charge me the service fee (even though he didn’t service anything). Needless to say I did NOT use them for my ceiling fan install. I called another company that installed the two ceiling fans in 4 hours and cost me about $600. I saved $3400 and will NEVER call this company again. I encourage you to be very cautious before hiring them for your job.
