Ground One designed and installed our landscaping for our new build in Minneapolis. The process and communication were both great, as well as the finished results which included landscaping, retaining wall, underground drip system for plantings and accent lighting. We would not hesitate to recommend them!

pros and cons:
The design process is very meticulous and the installation was top-notch. However, once the install was done we had a hard time getting a response to follow up questions. Also, we had about a dozen perennials that did not make it through the winter. They offered to replant them, but wanted to charge us $25 per perennial just for the planting fee. (We had to re-buy the plants). So, I would say this is a reputable company and they do great work, but read the fine print and don't expect them to go "above and beyond"; their attitude is kind of take it or leave it.

Update: we recently hired an arborist to figure out why our trees were not thriving. Well believe it or not they discovered the tees planted by Ground One were planted with the burlap and wires intact. They did not cut the wires! 6 trees and 6 arbs affected.

Over the years we have spent too much money fixing their mistakes.

Ground One just finished our backyard retaining wall and patio and it looks beautiful! This is an industry (including other home remodeling/repair/construction work) which I have found to be very poor at planning, professionalism, and customer service, but Nate the designer and Orlando the foreman were excellent and I was very pleased. They are meticulous and considerate, and Nate can design anything and slow talk it over with you. It's the best experience I've had with any company in this industry (including GC work). Would give 5 stars but there are a few lingering things that could have been tied up better. We have two spots in the yard that aren't draining well and could have been laser graded, as well as the irrigation/sprinkler head install was done a little haphazardly. Also be sure to get an exact quote from Pat before saying yes to anything or they will just charge charge charge away on your final bill.

But overall, awesome experience and would recommend these guys in a heartbeat.

Ground One, Craig Trenary, and his crew are the best in the biz. They are great with the design process and take the time to understand your wants/needs and provide plenty of options and revisions to the plan as it progresses. All of the crew were nice, hard working, and happily addressed any small nits and issues that came up throughout the project.

I have worked with Ground One for the last 5 years. During that time they have taken on a project (some bigger, some smaller) every year, including hard scaping and planting. They also take care of the annual spring clean up. Needless to say that I am extremely pleased with their work. Nate (landscape designer) is fantastic to work with. He listens and understands my vision for the garden, has been a true guide for me to understand my garden better, and always comes up with a fantastic plan. Communication with him and everyone else from Ground One is always prompt and clear. The crew(s) have been super professional and attentive to detail , including subcontractors (I.e. Concrete). They work fast without sacrificing quality. You can absolutely rely on their initial estimate of cost. I can only highly recommend Ground One. I am already looking forward to the next project.

Ground One Landscape exceeded our expectations! They are extremely professional. Nate developed a creative landscape design that revolved around our existing landscaping and honored our style preferences. He took the time to inform us about the pros and cons of some of our wishes. His design exceeded our vision and expectations. The communication with Nate during the process was professional.
The Ground One site crew completed the project on schedule! Andres and the team were extremely hard working, very respectful, communicated well during the process, and made certain the site was cleaned each day.
We also had some winter damage to our shrubs and made a last minute decision to pull them. Nate and the crew went above and beyond to keep on schedule for an event we hosted, even with the last minute additions. We highly recommend them. Thanks Ground One!

I live in a condo and we were greatly in need of a garden redo with low maintenance, sun loving perennials. We contacted Ground one and worked with Jeanna Lang. After the garden was planted it looked amazing, but the following spring, we found we had a number of plants that experienced winter kill because of the brutal winter we had. Ground One replaced all of the dead plants with new stock and they are beautiful!
Jeanna is amazing! She selected our new stock, and supervised the replanting. She is very creative, personable and knowledgeable. It was such a pleasure to work with her.

Ground One Enterprises of Minnesota was the perfect company for our landscaping project! From the beginning of the project, Pat, Nate and the rest of the company were extremely professional. Nate developed a creative landscaping design to fit our Northern Minnesota environment, which exceeded our vision and expectations. The communication with Pat during the process was incredible. Logistically doing the project in Northern Minnesota was a bit of a challenge, however, with the knowledge and years of experience Pat has in the business, our project was seamless and was completed when the company promised.
The Ground One site crew was very impressive, Andres and the team were extremely hard working, very respectfully, communicated well during the process, and made certain the site was cleaned each day.
We could not be happier with the outcome of the project and have certainly enjoyed our beautiful landscaping for the last month and look forward to the development of the plants in years to come. Designers were creative and put together an excellent plan. The crew was outstanding! Antionio’s crew was meticulous in their work. The stone patio had four layers of earth, each tamped down, followed by a layer of gravel before applying the stone. The crew painstakingly measured and leveled each stone. The crew was courteous and consulted me to clarify my wishes as the project progressed. Thank you!

Ground One does spectacular work we are very impressed with our experience. We went in with a general outline of what we wanted, but really relied on our designer Craig for ideas and specifics. Craig was great as he was highly knowledgeable and full of great ideas that we incorporated into our project. The work crew was very professional, organized, hard working and detail oriented. We had a small issue getting the sprinklers up and running again but Craig and the crew went above and beyond to make sure everything was fully operational again. Our patio and landscaping project looks excellent and we are thrilled with Ground One's work. Extra shout out to Craig for having great ideas for us, he truly was a difference maker. Highly recommend!!

We had a great experience with ground one. Craig was very easy to work with and helped design our small Minneapolis backyard into our own little oasis. Joby and the landscaping team were great. We were worried about a few patches of dry sod after job completion and Joby was out the next day to take a look and ease our concerns.

Ground One just completed a redesign / landscape project in our backyard and we could not be more happy. Craig and Joby exceeded our expectations with their leadership, communication, and attention to detail. From the first time we met with Craig, we were confident that this project would be what we envisioned. He listened to our wishes and used his expertise to make it come true. Joby and his crew (Kurt and Jack) were exceptional to work with. They were respectful of our property, cleaned up after their daily work, and communicated regularly on updates of the project. Any time we would have a concern about the project, Craig and Joby would reassure or discuss it with us immediately, often same day and after business hours with on-site visits. I can not recommend them enough! We look forward to working with them on a future project.

We have had GroundOne complete a couple of projects around our property. Most recent they laid stone and landscaped around our pool. Their work was excellent. My wife goes to the window every evening when she gets home and comments on how much she loves the work. Craig (sales) and Kevin (project manager) were very responsive whenever we had a question or concern. Craig was great to work with through the whole planning process. Kevin and his crew were great throughout the whole project from start to final clean-up. We have plans to use Ground
One for a few other projects and I would highly recommend them for any landscaping project you may have

We are so thrilled with the work that Ground One did on our backyard design and build in St. Paul. Our property was a complete tear down and rebuild and we didn't quite know what to do with the dirt pit we had in the back yard when we moved in. Dominick responded to my initial email within a day and he was on site measuring and sharing ideas shortly after that. He took our preferences and turned it into a beautiful design that complimented our house perfectly. Joby was great to work with as a project manager, he was able to roll with the unexpected challenges of our property and his biggest priority was to make sure that we were completely satisfied with the work. Jaime as foreman along with Luis and Jose did a fantastic job on the build. They took their time and paid such close attention to the details. Our patio and retaining wall look beautiful and I can attest to all of the engineering and effort put in to make sure they stay that way for a long time. The crew was fast and cleaned everything up better than they found it. Referrals and repeat service are the best compliments I can give so our friends and neighbors know about Ground One and I'll be having them come back in the spring to design and build the rest of our landscaping!

I can't say enough great things about Ground One-- from the design process to execution and follow up, they have been wonderful to work with. We live in south Minneapolis and were looking to increase our patio space/utility while keeping the budget manageable. Dominick was BEYOND patient in getting us the design we wanted within the budget we needed -- we didn't make it easy :) Once we came to an alignment on design, the project team continued to impress with their on-time start each morning and late evenings to get the job done. Joby and his team managed the project with tremendous detail and we are so happy with the finished product. Joby has been available to discuss questions on lawn repair and paver care after the project was complete. This is what service should look like - thank you all for a job well done <3

I love the new landscaping in my backyard by Ground One! Matt created a plan that would work on a part of the yard that was eroding. They were able to blend it all in with my other landscaping....also done by Ground One 9 years ago, and it is beautiful! It certainly was not a big project but what a difference! The crew worked hard getting everything done in one day. Matt was very responsive when I had a few questions after the install. I had a budget and Ground One was able to stay within (even a bit below!) it. Overall, they are a five-star company in my book!

From start to finish, Ground One was a pleasure to work with. Dominick and Sean had great ideas and kept me informed throughout the entire project. I will definitely hire them again and recommend them to others!
