Joel and his crew came out to redo our patio and walk way in the backyard and we are thrilled with the entire experience! He answered the phone every time I called (not always the case with landscapers), came out right away for an assessment and even managed to squeeze us in months before he initially thought he could get to the project. There were no hidden costs or any surprises in the project. He was able to match existing stones perfectly and now our backyard is the oasis that we always wanted! We have spent many summer nights sitting on the patio and we are looking forward to showing it off to all our friends! I highly recommend Joel and his team at English Patio, you will love working with them!

Joel and his team built a new entryway for us last Fall. It turned out better than we expected! Joel ia a very patient craftsman and communicates well. Joel's team is very professional and we found them willing to listen and flex with our requests throughout the entire process. We look forward to working with English Stone again in the spring as we add stone work to our home.

English stone breathed new life into my crumbling 90-year old front steps. The workers took a lot of care and went above and beyond what I expected. I'd be happy to use them again and recommend them!

Joel and his team of guys are most certainly worthy of my time to write this review. Joel heard my hesitation to put in a patio, and immediately addressed my concerns. His estimate was spot on (ultimately less than his verbal estimate) and not a dime more was charged to me even though the project scope increased as the project was underway.
The patio has exceeded my expectations, it looks lovely!
I was impressed with how well and quickly the grass came in that the guys laid and I wanted to know the secret, bc I had some other areas in my yard that needed grass. Joel personally returned and laid the “magic” seed for me! Now that is exceptional customer service!

Our experience with English Stone has been great! My wife and I meet Joel at a chruch event and discussed our project with him. We did stone around our corner gas fireplace and it turned out fabulous! Joel's team did a great job on it and we are very pleased with the work and how they cleaned up after the work was done.

I used English Stone to reface my fireplace through an Angie's List Big Deal. Joel was very responsive with my many email questions, and he was able to install a few days after choice of stone. His installers were courteous and did a good job covering floors, limiting mess, and cleaning up. Unfortunately (through no fault of English Stone), I discovered that the stone they were installing was the wrong color. The supplier had mistakenly given them the wrong stone. Joel and his guys were very apologetic, as was the supplier. As soon as the new stone came in, they were back at my house installing the new stone, with no expense to me. Another note - my hearth turned out to be deeper than the standard hearthstones, so they had to fabricate custom stones to fit. Again, no additional expense to me. They were able to install everything in less than a day. My fireplace looks great. Price was good. I would definitely recommend English Stone to anyone and would use them again in the future.

Summer 2019, Joel’s team set 5 50-lb cast keystones for me in a very old stone retaining wall in Saint Paul. I was very impressed with the meticulous care the masons took in removing old bricks and mortar, in setting the stones in this 7 foot wall, in replacing the missing bricks, and in tuckpointing cracks. The wall looks so good now that I have engaged English Stone for some additional stonework Spring 2020. I recommend English Stone highly to anyone looking for first-rate reliable stone craftsmanship.

Joel and crew did a beautiful job replacing our random stone front walkway, tuck pointing the front steps and replacing 3 concrete steps with real stone steps. English Stone is easy to work with. Joel has great taste and delivers what he promises to do. The stone he selected for the project was gorgeous, and match the existing stone. English Stone is more expensive than his competitors, but you get what you want and more. Well worth the extra cost.

English Stone did an absolutely fabulous job on our front stoop. It's beautiful and elegant. Our neighbors are thanking us for helping to raise property values in the neighborhood. We had Joel and his team redo our front buttress and steps and install a patio in our backyard. Each of the crew were artisans! They were open and responsive when I did not like one of the stone options. Their work was meticulous and the end result was gorgeous. Get complements each time someone comes over! They were also a delight to have in our space!

Joel and team were fantastic! We had a retaining wall issue that could have been very very expensive. Joel talked through the options and came up with an alternative solution that worked much better for us. When the team started digging and found the issues was a bit more involved than initially estimated, Joel went the extra mile to make sure it was done right. He was very responsive throughout the process, easy to work with, and of course the work itself was excellent.

Joel and team built a couple of retaining walls for me over the last few years. He reused stone I had from an existing wall and integrated new stone that matched it to a tee. He also suggested a draining solution for some pooling I was getting in the driveway.
Always prompt & professional, and the end product is impeccable. I continually get complements years later. One of the very best contractors I’ve ever worked with!

We've hired English Stone for two projects now. We had an old wood retaining wall that we replaced with a stone retaining wall and now our latest project is a beautiful stone patio with a built in gas fireplace and stone steps to our back door. Joel is great to work with, he really has an eye for design and what will look good in the space and was able to advise me on things I never would've thought of, like running my gutter underground and out of the retaining wall so it wouldn't be sticking out. I get compliments from neighbors all the time on the stone work. I highly recommend!

Joel is the best! he worked with us to keep our retaining wall and walkway project on budget and the craftsmanship exceeded our expectations by miles! The work was done in a timely manner and his crew was cheerful, polite and easy to work with. We have received many, many compliments on our new wall and cobble stone walkway and plan to have them back for another project this fall. Overall great people and a great company.
