Landscaping reviews in Shakopee, Minnesota

Apex came out for service last year to winterize my lines, and didn’t blow them out completely causing my vacuum breaker to split requiring costly repairs. I’ve called and been emailing since I turned water on in April and both Rich and Larry (VP) have been non responsive.
Please avoid using these guys, costly repairs can be prevented. -
I am extremely disappointed with the service provided by Apex. Despite clearly outlining the work I needed done, the agreed-upon tasks were not completed, yet I was still charged the full amount. The main service I required was dethatching, which was supposed to be included with the spring cleanup. However, this crucial task was not performed.
When I raised this issue with the VP of the company, I was met with an unacceptable response. I was informed that they only offer cleanup services with dethatching for a three-week period, and these services are dependent on what can be done given the weather conditions during this 3 week time period. Once the work is done at your property, they do not come back to finish what was not done if the weather improves. It is simply just not done.
The lack of transparency and failure to fulfill the agreed services are unacceptable. I expected a professional lawn care service, but instead, I was met with excuses and a refusal to rectify the situation. I cannot recommend Apex to anyone looking for reliable and thorough lawn care.
Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere! -
Apex has serviced all of our corporate sites for the last 7-8 yrs. We love using them. They are on top of our needs and always deliver when we call. last Winter your snow services were top notch during our record snowfalls. You guys do a great job for us.

If I could give 0 stars, I would, and I have never said that on a review. They have been our HOA's contracted company for the last couple years. Their lawn care is just okay, at best. They mow over my gutter run off and mutilate it almost every time they mow, as well as the black landscaping border. And their driveway plowing is horrible. Every year they completely miss two of our units driveways at least once or twice so those driveways are stuck with a foot of snow. And they miss like 3 feet of the side of the driveway often, so I'm driving through the snow anyway just to get out of the garage. Parking in the driveway is useless too because I open up the car door and there's a foot of snow I have to step in just to get out. Every year we get the same terrible service. Oh, and they charged our HOA to start the irrigation for this last summer, but they didn't actually do it. We had dried out brown grass all summer. I would definitely not recommend them to anyone.

Update: They used to be a great company. They got too big. The way they billed was hard to keep track of what they were charging us for and I was charged for things were not done. I didn't have the time to continue to dispute charges so we quit using them. I accidentally used them this year to start our sprinkler system. This year they charged me an extra service charge to change some of the sprinkler heads even though they were already out here opening our system. I assume they put them on two different invoices so they could charge the service charge.
We have them take care of our sprinkler, yard cleanup, and fertilizing/weed control. They do a great job and they always answer the phone. They are very responsive to any questions and will even come out to see and give the best treatment options. -
Apex is a 5-star worthy contractor! They did a large-scale rock replenishment project for a community I manage. The job was done in a timely and very professional manner. That is just one instance of this contractor's professionalism. They are a top-notch group and I highly recommend them for your property maintenance and projects!

Apex Outdoor did a great job winterizing my irrigation system. They squeezed me into their fall schedule even though I called late in the summer when their schedule was already full. I have used Apex for many years, and they always arrive on time and do great work.

Great work by Apex planting our new evergreen trees! They worked with us every step of the way to find the right trees for our area, and clearing the site and finally the planting!
-
New service at our townhomes in Eagan - they suck - our HOA should never have switched and with as many outraged owners as there are - they won't be here long - contract or not - if you aren't doing your part - you can be fired.

We had apex winterize our irrigation system last year. We noticed a busted pipe this year and called a plumber. We were told the damage was due to water freezing and expanding. He advised us this would not have happened if the system was winterized properly. The repairs cost us almost $700. We attempted to contact Apex multiple times to discuss this. Numerous voicemails were left and ignored. We finally heard back after submitting a formal complaint. After speaking with the owner we sent them photos of the damage. I was called back later in the day and was advised they would not be doing anything to make things right. They said they were unable to determine how water got in the pipe they were supposed to winterize and because of this the busted pipe (and bill to repair it)was our problem.

Your drivers should learn that they are not the kings of the road. Trying to run people out of a lane because they have to be first even when it’s not their turn to merge. Not 1 car but 3. Most everyone els was merging properly and driving with courtesy. After that, this guy has the balls to flip me off like I did something wrong.
I let the truck in front of me into the lane as it was the other guys turn to merge then there’s your driver trying to force his way in. Absolutely ridiculous. I then watched your driver road rage with a black truck, and a red van over the course of 1/2 mile. It was the other vehicles turn to merge but your driver has absolutely ZERO courtesy. Laying on the horn and letting the middle finger fly isn’t very professional. -
Ever since our HOA hired Apex our lawns have never looked so horrible. They have the mower blades on the lowest setting shredding and shearing the lawn. They come regardless if the lawn is wet tearing up lawns. When they make turns in the grass they dig holes with the mower. Edge trimming they leave 1/2 of grass that dies. Many homeowners are willing to cut their own lawn because they are so horrible! I've spent a few hundred dollars fixing mylawn damage to only be tore up again by Apex. Snow removal has been a joke as many of us have to own a snowblower to fix after they come. The lawn damage from their equipment we were told was from homeowners when it was not so they don't repair in the spring. This past winter they came before the city and didn't come back leaving a 3-4' wall of snow at the end of the driveways not allowing entrance or exit to our property trapping my neighbor in and preventing me from entering which is negligence if there's a medical emergency. We were told to park on the street and climb over by management company. Because of the fast and illogical snow removal, we get unnecessary 5'+ piles on corners that could be pushed across the driveway where there's room. The banks fall more onto the garage apron as the winter goes on. We have 2 car garages and cannot park 2 cars outside let alone get one vehicle out of the garage. Find another company!

HOA used this company under contract. First snowfall this year they came out no problem. Second snowfall, we had a large snowfall , 6+ inches and they never came to our location, even after 3-4 days. From what I heard is that my HOA terminated they are still under contract and need to pay. I understand from a legal standpoint they need to pay the remainder, but do better. Im sure others have great experiences, but I would not recommend. Not sure though if it was due to having too many accounts or not enough staff, but at least send a message letting us know you'll be late or if you're unable to complete the job instead of leaving people hanging and forcing them to pay when the work is not completed or attempted.

Mister Hawkins was involved with a Scam with Joe Ring and Rob Wilson where they charged us double the rate for soil correction. They waited until they tore off the back of our house to give us the number. Hawkins team also destroyed our entire yard, fence panels and our driveway with poor quality. Hawkins was totally unprofessional and left his bobcat parked on our driveway for 2 months. We finally had to move it to the street. He cheated us and then tried to give us altered documents to prove the cost of project. Stay away.

English Stone did an excellent job repairing a crumbling brick and cement planter. They were prompt and efficient.

Joel and his crew did a great job putting in new steps on our 100 year old house. Their craftsmanship is superb.
-
We really enjoyed working with Joel and Dan on our project. They did an incredible job and left the yard looking great, ready for us to landscape!

Joel and his team do WONDERFUL work, they were spot on with what needed to be done and the turn around time was unbelievable. Joel explained everything that needed to be done and the estimate was exactly what he said it was going to cost. We will use them again in a minute!
Thanks Rena and Jake
