General Heating & AC was called to come to my house 3 different times because, I could smell hints of gas in our laundry room and our thermostat wasn't working properly with my furnace. Zach came the first time and concluded it was the transformer and it wasn't clear if he did anything. The second time Rich came out and said the ignition switch was the problem and replaced it. The problem was still arising and Zach came out the third time. Zach gave me an attitude, as if he was bothered or didn't care about actually fixing the problem. I told him about the hint of gas I could smell and he dismissed me and laughed. He told me you can't smell carbon monoxide... well obviously that's why there are carbon monoxide detectors! He said there was nothing wrong and left without a resolution.
I contacted a different company the next day and within 20mins of an inspection, the tech found cracks in the heat exchange and mentioned there was a gas leak. How crazy is that?! Two months later, I receive an invoice that must be paid immediately (we got the invoice in the mail on a Saturday and the invoice says we will be charged a late fee on Monday if not paid - two days later!) from General Heating & Air Conditioning where Zach claims and I quote "Customer just wanted to talk about replacing the furnace at company's expense" which was a complete lie and unprofessional. With Zach's attitude and the "work" he claimed to do, it wasn't shocking or surprising he would accuse us of that. -
Called out General Heating & Air under my home warranty. Prior to the call I had an inspection done by One Hour heating & Air under my service plan. One hour gave me an invoice stating I had 4 faulty components in my HVAC system. General came out two separate times with two different technicians in about a weeks time. First one told me all AC components were bad due to them being loose / vibrating thus needing to replace the unit vs replacing multiple components. Additionally a bad inducer in the furnace. He didn’t acknowledge the blower motor failure listed on the competitions invoice on the furnace.... Second technician came out for a leak inspection only. Once arrived and did his wanding for leaks he told me he was going to write a report that the AC was in good health. Just a cheap and noisy unit?! No other technical inspection (didn’t see any other tools used; screwdriver ect) was done and he rewrote the outcome of my warranty. Why? Good question! Warranty company seemed good with replacement....General Heating & Air must care more about the warranty company than their customer who pays to have their service, such as home warranty....Inconsistent and incomplete!!!!! Not pleased. Easy $100 in their pocket....

This is a great company-- both Zak and Rich were wonderful. I had two other companies tell me I needed a new furnace. I was shocked since my furnace is only 7 years old -- neither of those companies would try to work with the furnace company with the warranty that still covered the parts. But luckily I found General Heating and Air Conditioning -- they were able to get the parts covered using my warrantee and I only had to pay for labor. I will definitely use them again. (They actually know how to fix furnaces whereas other companies only want to replace furnaces).

My wife and I have recently relocated to Minnesota and on a humid August afternoon had the misfortune of having our air conditioner break down. When we purchased the house we bought a home warranty in the event that we had malfunctions like the air conditioner. When the air conditioner quit functioning on August 21 we immediately called the HOW company and they dispatched an HVAC technician. Unfortunately he was not able to fix the problem and we had numerous phone calls and a couple trips out and the AC unit was still not functioning. On the Friday before Labor Day August 31, my patience wore out with the contractor the HOW company sent and I proceeded to seek another contractor. Fortunately for me, Rich the owner of General Heating and Air was able to come to my house within 20 minutes. He quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed it and the unit was functioning that afternoon. The HOW company has reimbursed me for Rich's work as his charges were less than the substandard company. I am extremely happy with the entirety of his work from the professionalism he displayed in diagnosing the problem and the expertise he demonstrated in fixing it. He also went above and beyond by communicating with the HOW company so I would receive my reimbursement from them. Rich has gained a customer for life and I would not hesitate to recommend him; how could I not based on the experience that I had.

Love that when I call I get a real person (not a machine) and they were very nice! They were able to come repair my furnace the next morning and showed up on time. I wasn't home but my fiance said they were in and out quickly with the heat repaired and the house was warm finally! Another place quoted me over $800 and they were able to fix it for under $200, very happy!

Our ac unit went out August 2021. 2 months after my wife and I purchased the home which was our first ever home. After a year battling with our home warranty company with cheap and horrible companies wasting our time they finally hired General heating and air. Within a week they sent Zach out to install our new ac unit and he did an amazing job. Cold air went through our duct work and through the house. It was the best feeling. After a year of headaches a real technician came out and did his job.

I would NOT recommend this company. We were unfortunately paired up with them through our home warranty and both technicians (including the owner) were incompetent. Zach was rude and replaced the start-up capacitor which was not even the issue and didn't fix the problem. Cheryl, the receptionist was rude to both my wife and I and hung up on my wife. We were without AC for 2 weeks bc of this company with 2 young kids and temps reaching 100 degrees. We finally called another company on our own and the tech came out the next day and fixed the issue within 30 mins and found damage to the fan from Rich (the owner of the company) who had flipped it upside down to try to get it to spin in the correct direction and poor wiring w/ the new capacitor that Zach put in. I would avoid this company at all costs- they do not know what they are doing and they are very unprofessional!

Our AC went out recently and here is our experience. I would give 4.5 stars for service, but 2 stars for pricing. When I called to schedule an appointment, I was quoted $165 (for first hour, then additional cost for every half hour after) which is supposedly $35 more than the reg work hours since we needed our a/c fixed over the weekend. I was fine with that since it was hot out, but then asked if this quote covered just the service or if it also included parts. The lady said it would include parts as long as he had it with him and didn't need to order it. The guy showed up on time and he knew exactly what to fix so it did not take long, but the bill is about what gave me a heart attack. Total COST = $350. The part was $165 and then the labor was $180. I was upset that the labor was even more than what I was quoted over the phone and then on top of it, the part (which was in his truck) was so expensive. Sometimes I feel taken advantage of for service needs like HVAC because the people know that you need the fix/service so they can almost get away with charging whatever they want. Overall, our air was fixed but definitely not without cost. The guy did seem honest and he didn't muddle around knowing the fee was by the hour, then half hour so that is good I guess.

I was set up to use General Heating & Air Conditioning through my home warranty. I moved into a new place and unfortunately my air system stopped blowing cool air 2 days after moving in.
1st visit, Zach showed up and was only here for 10 minutes. He seemed irritated from the start as he was at my place before I showed up (stayed at a friend's that had AC working) but he never called ahead of time to let me know when he'd be there. He claimed it was an easy fix with the compressor. However, my place never cooled below 82 degrees.
I requested a 2nd visit, and Zach came out again. He spent more time 30-45 minutes working on my unit again. I could not follow exactly what he was doing, as I was working at the same time. After this visit, I noticed cool air out of only 10-20% of my vents for 2 days and then it went completely out again. My place never cooled below 80 degrees.
I called again to request another problem and in the middle of speaking with Cheryl, she took ANOTHER CALL and then proceeded to hang up on me without another call back. She initially gave excuses on why they would not come out again.
I recommend using another service provider if possible if you want a positive customer service experience and your unit actually fixed. -
I would not recommend General Heating & Air. Before I bought my home two years ago, they installed a heat exchanger in the furnace. Unfortunately, they installed the intake and exhaust incorrectly, which caused the furnace to pull exhaust back into the intake and ultimately fail.
Because the failure was due to improper installation—not a manufacturer issue—I’m now unable to receive any credit or warranty support from the brand. Had it been installed correctly, either I or the previous owner would have qualified for a new furnace or a new heat exchanger. That opportunity is gone.
To make things worse, I scheduled an appointment with General Heating & Air to inspect the issue, and they never showed up. No call. No follow-up. Nothing.
Based on my experience, I would not use this company. -
Impressed by their efficiency and professionalism.
-
Scheduled appointment they never showed up and when I called they had a tech call me that knew nothing about my appointment and wasn’t even licensed in my city

Service person said the cost for freon would be so much, but didn't bother to tell me it would be a 100 dollars labor to put it in. I was not very satisfied with the whole senaro.

James performed a yearly inspection on my furnace. He was efficient, thorough and polite, answering all my questions and giving me information regarding discounts I would receive. His service was excellent.Highly recommended.
-
Victor did well. He kept us informed of his expected arrival time, arrived when promised, and went right to work. He completed the service requested and suggested an additional procedure. We are very satisfied.
-
James was terrific-very competent, tactful and dedicated. located the problem expeditiously; provided an elaborate easy to understand clarification; and did a very extensive repair including actions to prevent the problem from recurring. Cleaned up the repair area meticulously!!
-
James from Reliance Heating & Cooling was able to diagnose my problem in a few minutes and was able to work on it quickly despite the work that needed to be done.He was helpful and very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend them.

This company is so amazing! I called because my furnace was not working, and they were able to solve the problem in less than 15 minutes. I can't believe how easy it was to get an appointment, and they explained everything clearly.

Called on a Friday knowing I'd have to wait till next week. They made an appointment for Monday. They called Sunday night to confirm they were coming at the scheduled time the next day. The next day I was called 20 minutes before my appointment to tell me they canceled, they then offered to come on Thursday.
Be aware when you call the number, you are not speaking to someone from your area, it is a call/scheduling center.
They could not give me a reason why they canceled, when I asked why it would take 3 more days, I was told people had made appointments ahead of me. I asked if there was any way to get help sooner as I already had no a/c for the weekend, they said I could pay them to be a priority customer and that would push up my service date, I declined to pay more to have the service at the time it was already promised. -
James was excellent. Unlike other companies he was professional and wore booties to cover his feet when walking through the house. The quality of work was off the charts and he was beyond nice. KEEP KT UP JAMES!

So pleased by this company. Peter replaced my water heater with such friendly, professional service. He looked at me leaking fridge while here and knew right away what the problem was. I recommend this company to family, friends and neighbours.
