I used this company for some landscaping to prep our home for sale a few years ago and had a horrible experience with them. I was going to write a review to that effect but with the home selling and building process, I never got around to it. For some reason today, Google prompted me asking if I know this business. So here is the review.

The job was simple, we needed remulching around the house and needed them to reshape the mulch beds. After 3 bids, Ground Builders was the middle bid but I was impressed with John's professionalism. Contracted then to do the job.

Months go by and we don't hear anything from them. Without the landscaping we can't take photos to put our home on sale. I texted John a few times and never got replies. So I sent one last text saying the job was off, we're going with a different company. Immediately, I get an text back from John saying they already bought the mulch and can do the job in a few days. A few days goes by and I see no one. I call back and was told they can have a crew out on July 4th. I thought it was unusual for them to work on a holiday but we were on a schedule so I said go ahead.

Morning of July 4th their crew shows up. The lead guy was nice and had me walk the perimeter with him to show me what he was going to do. They dig up the sod around the house for the mulch bed but left a wide strip of sod against the house. When I went to check on the progress they were packed up and gone. I texted the owner (John) to see if they were going to finish the job that day and he said; "no, it's a holiday". Then why have them dig up my sod on a day known for family gatherings and BBQs? The next day another crew shows up, I asked if the were going to remove the sod against the house too to prevent grass growing through the mulch but the guy said no, they just spray grass killer. Ok, I'm not a landscaper so maybe this is standard procedure. They proceed to mulch the house and it looked great! The waves and curves in the mulch bed looked​ fantastic.

A few weeks later we started having problems. The grass started​ growing through the mulch. And they extended the mulch bed out too far and into the water drainage path. Whenever it rained​ the mulch was washed away on the sides of the house causing it to liter my front lawn. This made mowing the lawn a hassle. My experience with Ground Builder thus far has been subpar so I hired a different company to fix their mistakes.

Called this morning to inquire about some yellowing patches in my yard. Office gal, Hannah, took my info and turf specialist, Shaun, was out same day. He was able to identify the problem and treat it all within about 4 hours of my phone call! He also took time to ask questions about our current routine and gave me some tips on how to keep the yard healthier (mowing, watering, etc).
I call this Great Service!

This company came in clutch for my HOA. The last contractor Michalski changed pricing on us mid-season due to a management change so we were forced to bid out. I’m very happy our new management company brought these people in because I can see the difference in quality just after the first mow.
