Diego and his crew were fantastic to work with! Their team was responsive, the price was very reasonable, and they got the job done quickly! We had two dead trees removed and two trees pruned. Very happy with the service. I highly recommend using A Cut Above over the other local companies, as I’ve found the others to lack customer service & were difficult to get in touch with. I will definitely use A Cut Above again in the future!

First used Diego's service after Hurricane Sandy (2012). We had three 25 foot trees down in yard. After calling numerous places who wouldn't even come, they came out and gave us a reasonable price. They were on time and took the trees out in a professional manner with no fuss. Used them 3 more times through the years for smaller jobs. Finally, used them again last week to remove a 30' tree that was close to the house. His guys know what they are doing, and cleanup was good. reasonably priced as always.

Diego took really good care of me and my family. He gave me a fair price, and scheduled me quickly for my tree removal appointment. He and his team did a fantastic job, quick and clean job. True professionals. Would recommend them to anyone.

I did business with A Cut Above in the past and had a great experience. However, today I used their services again, and it was absolutely horrible! The guy who provided the quote was professional, but the crew who showed up to cut the tree was extremely rude and unprofessional. They entered by property with no warning (phone call/knock on door), left without doing the job, and destroyed my landscaping with zero communication or apology.

My 2nd time using A Cut Above. First time 2 years ago I had a huge Oak tree that was leaning removed and the stump was grinded down. They showed up on time, their equipment is top notch and left my place spotless. These guys know what they are doing and are also very nice. Today they took as much care with a much smaller job on my Magnolia tree that had grown way to big. They thinned it, topped it off, and shaped it. It looks beautiful. I'm very happy. I highly recommend them.

I want to share a mixed experience in case it helps others.

The owner of the company was a total class act.
He quoted a fair price, explained the scope clearly, and ultimately honored everything he promised. I have zero issues with him and would work with him again if he personally handles the close-out.

Where things went sideways was at the end of the job, when the owner's "brother-in-law" showed up to "wrap things up." And to be clear, I don't think this guy was his brother in law at all. He kept contesting that he was Colombian and his brother was of a different nationality. I really don't care if he's from Greenland and you're from the north pole. Honor the agreement.

I had set aside an additional $500 to tip the crew, completely voluntarily. Instead of letting me speak directly to the workers, the brother-in-law positioned himself between us and immediately started pushing for extra payment, claiming the job was "more than what was agreed." At that point, my $500 went back in my pocket. I never not tip and it killed my to not do it here. Either way, what I saw and who I was dealing with as the closers, "the workers" who actually did the work would have never seen a nickel of that $500.

This directly contradicted the signed agreement.

He began posturing and making comments that were inappropriate and unnecessary on my property. At that point, I stopped engaging and insisted he call the owner.

To the owner's credit, once we spoke, he immediately reaffirmed the original deal, including post-job cleanup and removal of stump cuttings. Everything the owner said matched what was originally promised.

After that call, the brother-in-law made an unprofessional remark along the lines of "I like how he talks to you," which only reinforced that he was trying to assert himself rather than resolve anything.

The job itself was done well.
The owner handled it professionally.
But the close-out interaction was completely unnecessary and uncomfortable, and it turned what should have been a positive experience into a tense one. He needs to get his brother in law away from any closing. The guy doesn't have this ability.

My advice:
If you use this company, make sure the owner is the one handling payment, close-out, and any post-job discussions. Do not rely on intermediaries who were not part of the original agreement.

Best Tree Service in Bergen County! From start to finish Diego was professional, straight forward and easy to deal with. We even ran into an issue with the stump grinding breaking a window and his team handled fixing it as well! Top notch service. 10 stars! Highly recommend! Will only use his services going forward. I’ve used several tree services and A Cut Above is just that - a cut above all the rest!

Our experience with this company was above and beyond what we imagined. Steven showed up on time for an initial quote and his team was able to stop by to compete the job very quickly. We felt the price was fair and his team was very prompt, diligent, clearly experts at the machinery they operated, were very careful with the branches they cut from a large tree (as to avoid any damage on our garage below), and they cleaned up nicely after the job, including raking and blowing debris off of walkways and our driveway. I’m not sure about the other reviewer that was talking about someone being rude- this entire team was very polite, communicative, and made sure we were happy with everything before moving on to the next tree.

Next time we need a tree trimming, this is the first company we reach out to, and will be sharing their business name with our neighbors too. Thank you so much!

Prompt service and I find the office staff very accommodating and they listened to my requests and concerns.

Gabriel is awesome! He give me the price and time, next day the tree and stomp removed and trim for other tree is done neatly. The service is top notch, and got multiple follow up call from back office to ensure job is done as expected.

The crew was very professional and cut down my twin tulip trees which were over 100ft tall. It was an emergency since one of them was hit by lightning. The job was completed in record time. I would highly recommend Apple Tree Services.

I'd called for a few estimates to have some trees cut back away from my roof and Apple Tree was the most reasonable by far. They had a team of four and each of them hustled to get the job done swiftly and professionally. No lazy foreman in this crew, which I appreciated. Highly recommend.
