As an experienced perennial gardener, I was interested in some professional insights into my mature flower beds. I retained master hortculturist Antoni Basir to assess and provide recommendations for sprucing up my beds. Wow, did he exceed my expectations with his deep and vast knowledge of botany, plant placement and flow, appropriate plantings for sun stages, and so much more. What a treasure McNaughton's has with Antoni. He's as professional and knowledgeable as it gets.

Amazing place! I can literally spend hours here looking at the same plants. Great selection and fair prices. The plants are always healthy and well taken care of. I have purchased quite a few plants from here and they are all beautiful, no pest and thriving. The staff is always so attentive and helpful. I highly recommend this place to any plant parent looking to expand their collection.

I absolutely enjoy coming here from when I was a young child, but i can not get past some of the prices here. 670 dollars for a flocked 7.5 ft tree is just unjustifiable. If you need some lighter knick-knacks this is the place to go. If you have children and want to see a lovely Christmas walk through, this isnthe place to go. But if you are in need of something more serious such as a tree or a wreath, unless you're made of money, id shop elsewhere.

The best way to earn customer trust is to honor your commitments and make things right when issues arise. Last year, I hired McNaughtons to install sod and shrubs. Mike promptly visited, offered ideas, and sent a proposal. Despite their busy schedule, they managed to fit us in quickly. A few weeks later, some of the sod died (which wasn't under warranty), but Mike and his team promptly came out to fix it. About eight months later, one of the shrubs and several plantings didn't survive the winter. Once again, I called Mike, and his team returned to replace and replant. Often, it feels like you need to advocate for yourself because many businesses don't seem to care. However, with McNaughtons, thanks to Mike, I never felt that way. We'll continue to use them for future projects.

Update: I bought three elephant ears/colocasia a few months ago and they have all died. They were pretty expensive and they were tiny when I bought them, some only had a few leaves. I got home and they all had spider mites and mealy bugs, and I've been trying for months to clean them and take care of them and now they are all dead. I have other elephant ears that are thriving, so I know how to care for them, it's a bummer these were so bug infested they didn't stand a chance.

This store is a wonderful hidden gem, and in some ways I would love for it to stay that way. They have an amazing selection of indoor plants, many of them rare and not at other plant stores. It is worth a drive from Philly over here, and worth the bridge toll on the way back just for a trip to this garden center. The prices also feel really reasonable on everything, although it is not a steal price wise - but I feel good about their prices compared to others I see in Philly. I would love to see a bigger variety of the smaller plants in 2" pots, but they do have a good selection already.

While there on my second visit, I found some super rare elephant ears and was ecstatic. I was originally told I couldn't buy them from a younger employee, but the lady at the check out desk was very kind and found a man who could tell me yes or no officially. He corrected the previous lady and said I could absolutely buy them. Lesson learned... if it's labeled "Not for Sale" or roped off, it's not for sale. But if it's not labeled, then buy the plant!

Edit Dec 2025: It's time to fix the bathroom! I've been going there for a long time, and for at least five—if not more—years, the bathroom has been "out of order." Making customers use a portable toilet, especially in the cold winter, is ridiculous and inaccessible for many; it suggests you don't really care about the customer experience. I'm knocking off a star for this continued potty problem.

McNaughton's has a great collection of standard garden plants, shrubs, and trees, as well as houseplants, and a notable variety of succulents and sometimes harder-to-find plants in the greenhouse. Landscape plants appear well-maintained and reasonably priced. Some greenhouse items are slightly overpriced, but overall, they are healthy. I have to knock them on supply prices. For instance, bagged soil is significantly more expensive than at other stores, and the selection is limited. I would only purchase plants here, and I don't see many people buying anything else.

Customer service is friendly and helpful.

There is a good selection of plants, a few which are on my wish list. However, most of them are poor condition... kind of what you would see on the clearance rack at Lowe's. It's sad to see rows of rare dying plants. They really should make an effort to take better care of their plants or at least discount them so people might be willing to buy them and try to rehab them.

Seen this place mentioned all over the internet for rare tropical indoor plants and they certainly have them expect they are all over priced and dead, like worse that big box store clearance dead. It’s borderline frustrating to experience. I felt inclined to ask if they had a clearance section or a return program for rescues but I left as I was too disgusted by the lack of care. No way would I bring any of those infested plant babies into my collection 😬

Doing work on our neighbor’s yard. Came into our backyard without permission. Moved things around in our driveway. Last year they did the same thing without warning and stepped on new landscaping in our yard and generally left a mess behind.

McNaughton’s is the reigning nursery in NJ for indoor plants. It’s Hoya heaven there right now.

We took our Grandson to McNaughtens during the Christmas season to shop and walk through their Christmas display. Upon exiting the premises, I was approached by a young lady asking if I would be willing to portray Santa for them as I had rhe natural white beard. I agreed and was later called by management to arrange my schedule. After appearing for three days, I became extremely ill and had to cancel my remaing two appearances. I regret disappointing McNaughtens and the children, however it was unavoidable as I was to sick and did not want to share my illness with the children.

Wow. What a great place. Enjoyed shopping. Wonderful place for all of your garden needs.

McNaughton's and Tom took care of my shrub needs, made my visit easy, worthwhile, and comfortable. Measure, take some pictures and think about what you want, this is an investment he told me, and he was so right.Now, my front yard looks how I wanted.

I was given amazing advice for my pachysandra that took turn for the worst from last summer’s heat wave .About 80% had turned brown and died The advice from AT Basir , 50 % of my pachysandra , plus new baby shoots are thriving very well !! He is a wealth of information and very enjoyable to listen to Thank you for having employees that are willing to educate and share their knowledge . PS I’m not a gardener Barbara T .

Pond section is an absolute mess. The nets are broken, the tubs are just holding sitting water and I found a dead fish (see pic) in one of them.

Time for some spring cleaning??

Not sure about the other seasons, but for Christmas it was wildly decorated and gorgeously setup! And a really great indoor plant selection in their greenhouse!

Fantastic service, very knowledgeable. They had some plants you could not find readily at competing garden centers. I'm a Master Gardener and can tell the stock is well cared for and watered regularly.

We've been several times at this point and have always had a wonderful experience! Last trip, Anthony helped us with learning about soils and was very kind with teaching us beginners about what we needed to get started. They also have the cutest little terrariums for sale.

I got rubber tree and philodendron Brasil from here last year around September and they are growing very nicely and went through winter well. I did visit over winter time around January. They didn’t have anything outside but the greenhouse looked full with different kinds of plants. I love visiting here when they have plants outside. Also knowledgeable staffs. Deff going back for spring time
