Electrical reviews in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Great company! Very customer service orientated. They were very helpful in installing a solar system which will meet my needs now and in the future. They are courteous, fast, competent and experienced. They did all the paperwork, permits and installation and helped me with my tax rebates. I am extremely satisfied with my solar system and their work. I would highly recommend them for your solar needs.

Solar Pro helped with obtaining the tax rebates and getting all the paperwork done to allow the installation. The installation went smoothly with no issues. After 18 mo the inverter died and Solar Pro replaced the part with no hassle. This company is a model for what a solar panel installer should be.

We have been very pleased with our solar panels. Poulin walked us through the installation and answered all of our questions thoroughly, even helping us with tax information to make sure we will be able to receive all of the tax breaks we can. Financing was easy, and we were able to keep our payments close to what we were paying towards our electric bill anyway. Since going solar, our electric bill has been less than $8 every month! We use a lot of electricity in our house with our TVs, hot tub, and refrigerated air and our solar panels have been able to handle the load. It's easy to check the output and usage online too.

Poulin did an excellent job with my solar install, everyone was professional and easy to work with. They did a significant remodel for a couple of years ago that was fantastic and they continued their high quality work with my solar install in July of 2017. They make it easy, handle all permits and applications with PMN.

I've been interested in solar panels for a long time. Through the entire process, the Poulin Solar Pro team consistently exceeded my expectations. For example, the owner (Steve Poulin) personally drove out to meet with me and explain the process. Afterwards, his team drew up plans, obtained a city permit, and coordinated all approvals with PNM. The installers showed up on time, worked hard, and answered all my questions as they set up the system. It was a pleasure to work with Poulin Solar Pro. Any solar system is a major investment, and I'm very satisfied with the results.

Poulin Solar Pro did and excellent job from sales to installation. We met with 4 companies and chose them. We had two companies we liked but went with Poulin because other company was new and not established. We wanted a company we knew would be around if any repairs or issues occurred.
-
If you are looking for a solar system then Solar Pro needs to be the company that installs it. Steve, Ron, and Brian are great. From the beginning stages of our design all the way through the install they were
professional, never missed an appointment and they answered every question. Plus Solar Pro uses American made panels and inverters. With an incredible warranty for all the parts. Call Steve Poulin at Poulin Design Center today and see what Solar Pro can do for you. We are very happy customers and love watching our meter turn left. -
I contracted this company because of their high reviews but after completing a project with them, I'm not sure how they got those reviews. After talking to some other companies first, I decided to use SolarPro for my project. We signed a contract that included electric panel upgrade and the project was slated to complete in four months. The first two months, I barely received any communications from them. When I sent them emails asking about status, it would take a week or even sometimes they don't respond. The only bright spot is Kara in customer service, when you bypass everyone else and contact her, she was very helpful. After two months and the paper work started moving, I got a notice that my panel upgrade will cost an additional $1500 even though we had it in the contract. I tried contacting the Paulin brothers who are the owners and they did not even make a courtesy reply, nothing different than other times trying to contact the project manager. I was then told that I either pay the extra fee or the project would not continue. It was a tough choice to stay with them but since we already wasted 2 months, I didn't want to restart the process all over with another company. The project continued to move slow which I understand is due to applications with PNM and the city so they don't have much control. Once install happened, that was quick and professional with no issues. The project was finished 6 month after start instead of the original 4 months promised. Part of the rebate process with the NM state, SolarPro had to send me forms to complete. It took them 2 months from end of my project to send me the forms. By the time they did and I turned that into the state, the state ran out of money for 2022 projects which I was never told it was a possibility otherwise I would have pushed the completion into 2023. It seemed something very basic they should know. So on top of the $1500 additional for the panel, I was out 10% of the project cost since NM rebates were not possible. So if you ever decide to use these guys, and I wouldn't understand why, make sure you start your project really early or really late in the year otherwise you can count on not getting NM rebates. Overall, I'm happy with my system and I would get it again but there's no way I would use these guys or recommend them to anyone.

Excellent to work with from start to finish. They made sure we were comfortable each step of the way. Poulin Solar Pro showed a high level of professionalism, knowledge, communication, and quality. The warranty was exceptional. The system they installed balanced value with functionality. We are already reaping the dividends and are so glad we went solar with Poulin Solar Pro.

We love our solar panels and are totally satisfied with Poulin Solar Pro. They were/are patient and have a lot of knowledge about their products. They moved our paperwork through quickly and worked hard to get our panels in. The team has been awesome and great customer service. Totally recommend.

So many things went wrong. The first and biggest issue was that Poulin had changed the placement of where the solar panels were going to be and didn't inform us nor ask us if we were ok with that. The other part of that problem is that we have a pitched metal roof and we replaced the section of roof where the solar panels were originally going to go. So, installation day came and Poulin is installing them on a different area of the roof. My husband and I discussed with Poulin this issue and came to the decision that we would keep the solar panels on the new area (since they already drilled holes in the roof) and when we replace the roof Poulin would pay for the solar panels to be removed and reinstall them. Poulin said they would give us a letter stating this. All I got was an email stating this with no signatures nor on company letterhead. I called Poulin to let them know this is unacceptable and requested that they actually type a letter on company letterhead and physically sign it. I've called countless time for this letter and have never received it. One of the other issues is that our electrical box needed to be upgraded to support the solar panels. This was supposed to happen on the same day as the solar panel installation and that didn't happen. But the bigger problem was that they messed up so many things with our electrical box. We're having our house remodeled and our contractor took a look at it and said things are on a 30 when they should be split into two 15s. One of our bedrooms didn't have a breaker to shut the power off to it and we had to shut off the entire power system to shut off the power to that room. Poulin also didn't patch up the wall when they were done and electrical wires were exposed and everything was mislabeled in the electrical box. I called Poulin since we're still under warranty to fix these electrical issues and they never called back. Thank goodness our contractor was able to fix all these issues. And wait there's even more. I feel like the project manager is misogynistic. I had filled out all the paperwork and every communication was going through me. But he found my husband's email and started emailing my husband about the project even though I had asked him multiple times to only email me. I had also tried to get help for the solar tax rebate from the solar administrative assistant. I was trying to find out where I could find my green tag permit number so I emailed the solar administrative assistant. I never got a reply. I had to call several times and finally got someone else on the phone to help me. Please find someone else besides Poulin for your solar project.

Truly outstanding service from my first phone call to post installation. Poulin Solar Pro made my experience simple, yet I was very informed at every step as to what would come next and why. They hit their timetable projections dead-on. Brian and the installation crew arrived on time, and completed the installation exactly on time as was projected. Unlike other situations I've experienced, Brian and team left the property as clean as when they arrived. I did compare other solar companies, and none of them rose to the excellence of Poulin Solar Pro. Plus, virtually all other local solar companies seem to come and go with the tide. Poulin Solar Pro is well established and will be here for the long haul - which provides me with great comfort. If there was a word that went beyond Outstanding - I would use it here. Thank you all for such a great experience.

I have a new house with a Square D breaker box. Solar Pro's system that was just in stalled does not work with the up to code AFCI breakers in my house. My fridgerator and washing machine trip the AFCI daily or more when the solar system is on, but don't ever trip when the solar system is off. Solar Pro neither warned me of the risk of problems after their site visit, nor took any responsibility for the system not working with my house. They even suggested multiple times that I downgrade my breakers so the system would work, making my system not up to code.
The sale representative, Genaro, was wonderful and fought for us all the way to the CEO, but he refused to do anything. It was a well priced system, but I can't recommend this company at all. They don't seem to care if the system actually works with your house after install. -
Steve Poulin, co-owner of Poulin Solar Pro, came out to our house and spent a couple of hours with us, calculating how many solar panels we would need for our lifestyle and energy usage. He also looked at a year’s worth of electric bills to help us calculate how much money we would save with solar (besides the environmental benefits) and estimated how much we’d earn for our tax return with the solar upgrade which served as a rebate. The cost for our solar panels was reasonable, and his crew helped us understand the new electric box we needed to install due to the age of our original box (built in the 1950s). Steve helped us finance the cost of our panels, with a 0% interest for part of the cost for one year (which we paid off before the year was over) and a very reasonable loan with our local credit union at a very low interest rate of less than 4% for the remaining balance. Steve handled all of the loan paperwork. We never had to leave our house to address the set up or the financing for the project. At most we discussed the loan once over the phone. The project was completed on time and as promised. And we have an app on our phones that shows us how much each solar panel is producing. We have been living solar for a year now and are so happy with our choice.

Without reservation, I recommend Poulin Solar Pro to anyone interested in investing in Solar. The sales person clearly explained the benefits and return on investment. Without any pressure he summarized our electric needs and demonstrated how solar could help us in our upcoming retirement. The installation went smoothly and the electrician was very informative, answering all of my questions. They installed our system within the timeline we agreed and we were able to take our tax rebate in 2016. What sold me on Poulin Solar was their excellent service history in Albuquerque with all their home improvement product lines and that the owners stand by their work. There are many solar companies in the market, but Poulin Solar Pro is a business of integrity and quality.

I had been thinking about using solar for a while now. I'd check with neighbors and friends about quality of equipment and any installation problems. I was also wondering about after installation problems and how quickly they would be handled. Solar Pro by Poulin met all my expectations. The sales professionals simply and easily explained the product, the installation, and the after installation availability. I decided that Solar Pro would be the company that could and would get the project done. The installation team arrived and immediately got to it. They were a well trained team led by Lee, the head electrician. They obviously had the knowledge and experience to accomplish the installation. Lee was always available to explain what was going on and the why's of how they were doing it. I was very impressed with the whole team approach and procedures. I will highly recommend Poulin Solar Pro to any and everyone interested in making the switch to solar.

We were kept informed throughout the process . The install crew completed the job in 2 days with no issues and a very professional experience. System has been flawless for past 2 months.

We had already come to the decision that we wanted to go solar before reaching out to Poulin Solar Pro. The numbers just made sense and it doesn't hurt to go green as well. In the Albuquerque area, there are a myriad of companies willing to sell you solar but by just looking for a couple attributes (an A rating from the BBB and a company that has lasted at least 10 years), most of the companies were eliminated. After doing some research regarding customer reviews on various sites, we narrowed it down to the "Top 5" - which included Poulin. We spoke with each company (whether via e-mail, phone or in-person consultation). In all honesty, each of the companies would have probably been fine, but Poulin stood out to us for a variety of reasons. Steve came to see us right away and sat down to give us an in-depth explanation of what we were looking at. He made sure to make it easy to understand as well as willing to go into detail with each question asked. The price was fair and the install went very smoothly with Ron and his team. Once the decision was made to go with them, each subsequent step was easier and easier. We have a tile roof and they made sure to have a plan to safely and efficiently do the install - another plus. We have only had our solar up-and-running for a few days at this point so we don't have any long-term feedback to provide but everything was great and we don't expect to run into any problems. The long-term warranty, great customer service, and frequent communication put our mind at ease and we feel comfortable with our choice and recommending them to anyone else.

I had solar installed by Poulin Solar and just wanted to review the installation. The crew was a 4-person crew that worked very well together.
Jake (electrician)
Danny (install lead)
Vince (panel installer)
Robert (panel installer)
They performed the installation flawlessly answering all of my questions fully and completly. The install took most of the day and they left the worksite cleaner than it origionally was.
Only problem was that the plans were printed wrong, but Danny assured me that he would have my new copy in time for electrical inspections following day. He did not dissappoint as he brought them to me the following morning.
I wish all the install crews I have experienced were like this. They were friendly, and professional, with no issues or complaints. -
Great sales, price and follow up for our solar system!
We did a lot of research in figuring out if we wanted to go solar and then finding a company to go with. We initially signed up with a company through Costco but got cold feet when digging into the company that they use to provide and install solar, that company is also based in another state. We had Steve from Solar Pro come over to our house and show us what they offer and it ended up being lower cost, better financing plus other perks than the Costco option AND Poulin Solar Pro is local (great for any follow-up/issues), which gave us a bit more comfort. We ended up going with at 33 panel LG panel, 10KW system (which arguably is one of the best panels). Ron and his install team were great….were very careful and professional during the install, cleaned up after themselves and even ensured the color of the conduit matched our stucco. They took care of all the permitting and inspections required. We also received everything that was promised by Steve during his initial consultation (he even added an additional rebate that come out after we started the process). My plumber had gone with the company that we initially were going with (through Costco) and he said they made a lot of promises that they did not keep. We did not experience this with Poulin Solar Pro. We did experience some concerns with some shading on some of our solar panels and Steve and Ron came through with a great solution. I’m not sure if you would get this type of service with an out of state company. -
I wrote the first check to SolarPros on July 15, 2024. Here we are 9 months later and I still don't have an operational system. My advice: go somewhere else for your solar project. It's been a miserable experience - no communication, delays that I suspect are because SolarPros didn't know how to do project elements, and probably some out-and-out lies. I don't care what garbage excuses get tossed against the walls, 9 months and still no system is inexcuseable. The ONLY reason they get 1 star is for the contract crew (not SolarPro) did an excellent job doing the actual installation (after 7 months, which is again inexcuseable). Still waiting for the rest of the activation to happen .... any takers betting on how long it will take Poulin to finish???
UPDATE: The system went operational a few days shy of 10 months after starting the process. I asked for a reduction in the final price as I lost out on last year's tax credits, the lower electric bills, and the months of interest on the down payment (~$25k). That totalled well over $10k. I have appended the company response below. Frankly, it is what I expected and is what we in northern Colorado used to get from the feedlots and used to fertilize the winter wheat and sugar beet fields. Keep in mind, this is the response after almost 10 months:
"Congratulations ! you are up and running and receiving the benefits of going solar. Once we receive final payment we will activate your 25/25/25/warranty.
I did see your request for a discount because of lost solar production due to the length of time from contract to electric company permission to operate( PTO). I apologize if we did not meet your expectations. Our team at Poulin Solar Pro does their best every day to provide the best solar services.
Just to get your system built Poulin has to navigate on your behalf , engineers, building department, building and electrical inspectors who can interpret code independently of the code book and require you to change design, correct and reinspect. PNM plan review and their ever changing rules and PRC regulations are another challenge. A few years back we could get systems approved by PNM in a week or two now it can take up to 3 months. Bernalillo county can take up to 4-6 weeks to get a building permit issued and inspections up to 2-4 weeks. All of these agencies are shorthanded!
We had to deal with plan revisions due to your rocky soil and not being able to use the original design of the ground mount. This is like starting the process over again. We also had a change order that removed the generator and your approval of it that took longer than expected. We were unable to submit the original application until we knew about the generator as it has to submitted at the same time. During this period my Production coordinator of 10 years announces his retirement and gives me short notice.
What I am describing is what Solar Pro and all solar companies go through on every system we design and build.
This is why in our terms and conditions we clearly state that we can not be held liable for delays beyond our control and we do not guarantee installation completion dates.
I would be happy to meet with you in person and discuss your project. I anticipate full payment of your final invoice and once paid we will service your warranty for years to come."
