These guys came at the time they said they would, very efficient work, reasonably priced and did a great job overall. My yard looks clean and well managed, don't have to worry about HOA Karen anymore. Attentive to what I had requested as well! They made a repeat client out of me!

We contracted with LaBarge for a complete re-do of our backyard. They installed an irrigation system, a couple of planter boxes, re-sodded the lawn, planted bushes and ornamental flowers, installed a couple of areas of artificial turf, put in a sidewalk, and installed pavers for a seating area. They took our desires and thoughts and turned them into reality. We are really happy with the end result. LaBarge was great to work with. They showed up every day on time and worked hard on our job. They know what they are doing and take great pride in the end result.

Stunning yard work and attention to detail. Will never use anyone else. Bravo Ashley and team! (Also, they love on your fur babies!)

So incredibly happy with the turn out. Everyone is professional and helpful, and on time. Neighborhood took so much notice we had to put a LA Barge sign in our front yard to advertise. Definitely recommend them!

We hired La Barge to do a complete landscape job on our backyard. In the beginning, they were very professional and attentive. During the evaluation/quote process there was a miscommunication about whether we had a sprinkler timer on the property. We said we didn't have one and they failed to quote us for one. When this came up during the install process, their attitude changed and they wanted to charge us an additional $500-800 more depending on what type of timer we wanted. Since we had already spent over $18,000 we elected to forego this addition. However, since we had already paid them to install our drip system, it is basically now worthless without the timer to control it. There were also other issues during the install, they damaged one of our bushes in the yard and when we informed, Jack, the owner, his response was that we were lucky that's all that happened since it was such a big job. Not the response we were expecting from the owner. Once the job was completed, we were not happy with a few of the items. The privacy fence boards began to warp within weeks of the completion. They did end up coming back to remove the original boards and replace them. Once the new ones were installed, they were stained poorly and the tops of the support posts were jagged and awkward. We did eventually gets these items fixed, months later, after many emails back and forth with Jack's wife, Ruth. The biggest disappointment is our Pergola. This was our biggest and most important part of the project. We absolutely love the design and the look, except we had numerous problems with it. The first issue were the sticks across the top for shade. Upon completion it looked terrible. The boards they used were cull lumber and had a lot of damage to them. We did have La Barge replace those. They claim it was not cull lumber, but it looked like trash. The lumber they used on the posts and decorative corbels was green lumber and has now split and looks terrible. We have gone back and forth with La Barge on this topic and they have said they reached out to Groff Lumber (who they purchased the lumber from) and that is something that happens with green lumber. I'm concerned that they are using green lumber to build structures like this when they know that they end up looking like poor workmanship. We also have a big issue with tons of sap constantly dripping from the wood posts. We have to keep cleaning it up, so it doesn't stain our new pavers. Overall, our yard does look nice, but it's been a lot of back and forth and we are not happy with the way they have handled a lot of our concerns. All of the concerns that we've brought up have been due to poor workmanship or poor quality products they used. Please note that we contracted with La Barge in February and they just finished with some of the requested corrections as recently as June 3rd. They have refused to fix any of the split pergola posts or decorative corbels.

A huge thank you to Jack and Juan who were amazing to work with! They were timely, flexible, considerate, and listened to my needs. I highly recommend LaBarge Landscaping!

La Barge did an outstanding job from start to finish. I needed a retaining wall to prevent erosion in my backyard. Now I have an area that makes the space both usable and beautiful. Very reasonable price and the guys were friendly & professional. I’m already thinking about my next project!

I hired La Barge Landscape to landscape just under 1/2 acre (front and back) of my yard. From the get go they were extremely professional and detail-oriented. The owner asked a lot of questions and, in return, answered all my questions patiently.
Theirs is a family business and they take pride in what they do. Their team did complete landscape design, including installing large boulders, new concrete planters, drought-resistant plants and trees; they installed new drip irrigation, low voltage lighting, new retaining wall, new concrete pad for the hot tub, and a brand new concrete driveway.
They quoted a very competitive price, and earned every dollar that I spent. I would definitely hire them again. -
We used this company for a huge landscaping project and are very happy with their work. We are grateful that we found them through a recommendation from a colleague. Their workers were always on time and worked really hard to do a great job. They used high-quality materials. Their project manager, Ashley, was coming on site several times a week and making sure everything was proceeding as planned and to our liking. I really appreciate their professionalism and dedication and would highly recommend them. Before and after photos are included.

La Barge did a great job at my property! I contacted them because I needed a solution to deal with negative grading towards my house. Jack came by and conducted a site survey. He subsequently provided me with a well-written proposal to re-grade soil to assist with drainage of water away from my house along with the installation of a drain pipe. On the day work was scheduled to commence, Jack and the work crew showed up on time. Jack held a pre-work briefing with the crew and did a thorough walkthrough with the team lead. Once that was completed, Jack departed and the team lead took over. The crew worked hard to get the job done within two days! They were professional and efficient. When they finished, they did a thorough cleanup. Not only did they complete the scope of work as proposed, but the crew did a superb job at preserving the aesthetic look of my backyard! Overall, La Barge did an excellent job! I look forward to doing more business with them in the future!

Labarge Landscaping is absolutely AMAZING! They poured our concrete driveway and built a stunning Trex deck in our backyard, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The craftsmanship, attention to detail, and professionalism they brought to both projects were top-notch.
Ashley and Jack were incredible to work with—communicative, reliable, and genuinely invested in making sure everything turned out perfectly. They also maintain the yards at all of our properties year-round, and the quality of their work is consistently exceptional.
We’re already planning to hire them again for our rental homes this coming Spring. If you’re looking for a landscaping team that delivers beautiful work and outstanding service, Labarge Landscaping is the one. Highly recommended! -
We hired La Barge Landscaping to upgrade a small portion of our backyard. We are very pleased with the project from beginning to end. Jack met with us to coordinate the design for the area, making suggestions and accommodating our desires/vision for the area. The project included removing old landscape material, pouring concrete for a small area, creating a walkway with new pavers, and putting down new gravel. We also wanted them to replace the old drip system and install new tubing and sprayers in the backyard. Additionally we asked them to remove gravel from, and add garden soil to, two planters in the backyard. The project also included replacing a 12'x12' patch of lawn in the front yard with new sod. Jack's team was pleasant and easy to work with. The were attentive to detail and made sure everything was in place at the end of the project. We would definitely recommend La Barge and their team for landscape projects.

We recently had LaBarge Landscaping come out to repair our irrigation system, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. They responded quickly, worked efficiently, and their pricing was very fair.
Ashley, Ruth, and Jack were all wonderful to work with — professional, friendly, and genuinely caring. It’s clear they take pride in both their work and how they treat their customers.
I highly recommend LaBarge Landscaping for any irrigation or landscape needs! -
My wife, with her extensive online research, decided to hire La Barge Landscaping for a straightforward job: replacing a damaged cinder block wall, raising existing walls, installing a new deck, transplanting plants, and planting some new ones. In an unfinished flowerbed, planting half annual flowers and the other half a sand box to lay beach chairs in so we can bury our feet in it, and the installation of a timed drip system attaching it to our existing mainline tubing for a drip system we started but never finished. After receiving their bid, they began the work two weeks later. The crew worked tirelessly for the first 2-3 days, and my wife who was working from home was thrilled to see the progress. But as time went on, the workers slowed down, and the project dragged on. We made some add-ons and agreed to the price. Agreeing to pay in three partial payments close to $25,000.00 for the whole job. One would expect perfection, but the newly planted lavender and rosemary were dry and wilted while the hollyhocks died. La Barge replanted the hollyhocks and adjusted the timers to water twice a day. The plants continued to look dry, so I took it upon myself to check the watering tubing and drip emitter finding out the hose was either cut too short or placed 10-12 inches away not watering the base of the plant. Correcting the problem too late, the lavender and rosemary dried up and died. Their response? “Regarding the plant material, we only have a 30-day warranty. The rosemary and lavender were planted on 7/28, and when we returned on 8/11 and again on 9/8 all three of those plants were still alive. I adjusted the timers on 9/8 to give everything more water each day, but the extreme heat the last few months has caused many plants to die if they aren’t being consistently monitored and given extra water as needed. If the drip/emitter installation was the source of the problem, the plants would’ve died almost instantly.”
Then there was the deck. We went with Trex composite decking and not being a carpenter, assumed we were going to get a clean consistent look, we got a staggered look with brad nails. I tried to get them to build a new deck, but to no avail. My fault because I didn’t specify at the beginning of construction. Not knowing the poor quality of the deck build, we placed our outdoor furniture on the deck so we could enjoy our view of the Sandia mountains. That’s when my son-in-law who is a carpenter, came over, he told us that the deck should have proper composite board screws and plugs to hide the holes, not brad nails. Also, boards that we improperly fastened started popping up. We told La Barge our concerns and they came back and properly fastened the boards and filled the brad nail holes with putty, not replacing with screws and matching plugs. We expressed our concerns again and this is what they said,” We are not willing to replace the main deck, as the installation was done correctly and with precision, the deck is structurally sound, and it looks beautiful. When I initially addressed your concerns during our final walk-through on 8/11, the staggered look of the deck was never mentioned. Your only concern was with some of the boards being loose/popping up, not the aesthetics of the main deck boards, as you had already placed your patio furniture on it and had started to use it without any issue. As I mentioned yesterday, we used nails/incorrect screws when installing the frame and facia boards, which we would like to correct.” So at least they are willing to fix some of their mistakes.
So, if you still choose La Barge after this review, do your research and be as detailed as possible about what you want. You wouldn’t want to spend your hard-earned money on something that doesn’t meet your expectations. Good luck! -
Marshall is responsive, responsible, and totally professional. He listened to us and tailored the work to meet our needs. His crew, Chris, Beny, and Cesar, worked hard to ensure we were pleased with all aspects of the landscaping work. We are totally satisfied with the finished product. I'd recommend them and would certainly use them again.

I had 35 plants installed in my xeriscaping project. 2 of the plants did not thrive, so I asked if they could be replaced. Marshall sent his crew and replaced them promptly. Smart Landscaping is a first rate company.

Had a very good experience with these guys. They were quick to respond to my inquiry, listened well and understood what we wanted, and always checked first to discuss anything that might up the price. Friendly and professional; their guys were on-time, didn't cause a ruckus and left no mess. The results were beautiful too.

I used Smart landscaping for some general cleanup in my backyard, and design/install of xeriscaping in my front yard. Marshall was friendly and responsive to any questions or concerns I had during the process, working to clear up any misunderstandings in a timely manner. The overall cost of the project was significantly less than the estimate I received from another, larger landscape company, and Marshall did well sticking to my budget.
There were, however, some issues at the end of the project that soured my experience. First, there was a new timer controller. I had an existing box attached to my house with power run to it which housed an old timer controller. I wanted the new timer controller to go in this box to avoid having additional items attached to my house, but only if it would fit. The new timer controller was placed in the box, but to close the door and keep everything sealed from the elements requires putting a good deal of pressure on the front of the new timer, as it does not really fit. Not really the solution I was hoping for, and had I been told during install I would have placed it elsewhere.
Also, the final walkthrough of the project took place during a windstorm. Perhaps rescheduling would have been better, as there was no way to have a proper discussion of the project with 50 mph winds blowing.
Lastly, there was a large leak in the new irrigation system that Smart installed, that occurred a week after the final walkthrough. On a Friday night I noticed a drop in water pressure in my house, and quickly discovered a large leak in the valve box installed by Smart (the PVC pipe had completely sheared off). This caused a flood in my front yard that I wasn't able to stop until the next morning, and I was without water all weekend as a result. Marshall was good about sending his irrigation tech out the following Monday to fix the leak (I doubt any landscaper does weekend calls), which was appreciated. But I was disappointed that Marshall never followed up with me to confirm the leak was fixed to my satisfaction. The flooding brought a lot of loose soil to the surface, that I feel caused some damage to my newly installed landscaping. I'm also wondering if enough material was used, as there are spots where I can easily see the landscaping fabric beneath the rocks, although this might have been caused by the flooding.
So overall, I'm happy with what I received for the cost, but disappointed with the crammed in timer controller and lack of follow up after the flooding incident. -
I have been a customer for years. Originally we were having only maintenance done. Over time we have converted our yard from grass to xeriscape. SMART did a great job of designing and installing the new landscape. The work has been done professionally, with attention to detail, and with care. We continue to use them for maintenance.

Marshall is amazing. He works so hard and communicated very well with my wife and I. Marshall re-designed our front, side, and back yards. We now plan to use SMART Landscaping each month to maintain our plants, grass, etc. Please give Marshall a call! You won't regret it!
