We hired SMART Landscape last summer for a full backyard project—tree removal, new sod, irrigation updates, and a paver patio. While the owner was kind, respectful, and apologetic when issues came up, the overall experience didn’t meet expectations, especially at the price point.

They mistakenly removed the wrong tree on one side of the property, which forced us to purchase four new trees just to try to get shade back into the yard. They installed new sod and updated the irrigation system, but two weeks later—while we were out of town—the irrigation failed on half the lawn, and the grass burned. When we asked about a fix, we were told it would cost us an additional $900 for new sod.

They had also promised a WiFi-enabled sprinkler system, but left without installing it. That required another call to the owner to get it addressed. And despite a paver patio being part of the original scope of work, there was no patio installed when the job was declared complete—we had to escalate again just to get that resolved.

The owner was pleasant and responsive, but in the end this felt like a classic case of over-promising and under-delivering. We expected more for the investment.

I am happy to recommend Smart Landscape Management! I have used their services several times and have never been disappointed. The most recent was to trim a couple trees, remove some previously broken limbs, move an existing plant and plant two new trees. They did all these jobs to my satisfaction in about one hours' time. I have always found Marshall to be prompt, reasonable and reliable. The crew was courteous and conscientious. Thank you again for a job well done!

Smart Landscape converted our courtyard from a sloping grass yard to a level paver space which can now be used for enjoyment and entertainment. They included lighting, plants and a wall to enhance the appearance of the space. We were impressed with the details of the job and we are planning our next expansion with them.

SMART did a great job with xeriscaping our yard. They took our input in and gave expert opinions on what plants we should plant, but were willing to change things out when problems arose. They handled all of the work to allow us to qualify for our ABQ xeriscaping rebate, so we probably won't have a water bill for the next two years or so.

The owner, Marshall, was very helpful in determining what would best fit our needs. He was prompt with the estimate and the wait time wasn't long at all. He's quite nice! The installation crew were all friendly, very thorough, worked hard, and they answered any questions we had and cleaned up so very well. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and would definitely use SMART LANDSCAPE MANAGEMENT again!!

SMART Landscape did a great job in my backyard. My yard slopes towards the house and soil erosion had filled all the drains. They solved my problem by adding cobblestones in one area, decomposed granite in paths and around a fire pit, and added a gravel patio in another area. They also installed a heavy plastic weed barrier under the rock. Now all I have to do is plant the beds and it will look fabulous!

We recently hired Smart Landscape Management to remove all remnants of a bedraggled old lawn in our backyard and turn it into a beautifully xeriscaped yard. The photos don't quite depict the varying depth of terrain height but the transformation turned out better than we could’ve imagined. We look out onto our new backyard now and feel like we are in a high desert park. The perfectly positioned mounds, boulders, plants and Pinon pine add a beautiful texture and are such a delight to see each day. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. The entire process, from initial design to finished product has been such a positive experience. Owner, Marshal, and his crew, Dante, Sam and Quintin, were all extremely professional and respectful of our needs. We were consulted at each phase of the project and we were able to make changes, if needed, as we went along. The crew worked hard and thoughtfully every day and got the job done in short order. We also appreciated that the crew would always let us know when they were on their way each morning and let us know when they were done for the day. Great communication throughout with Marshal and his crew. We are extremely picky when it comes to hiring anyone to do work on our home and often just do it ourselves because we can’t find anyone that can meet our high standards. That being said, Smart Landscape has exceeded our very high standards and we would wholeheartedly recommend them.

3 month follow up: SMART Landscape Mgmt continues to impress. We had a few plants that were struggling and Marshal's crew member, Steve, came out to replace them and solve the problem with the clogged emitters. He was very professional in his work and a great problem solver.

Thank goodness our friends recommended Smart Landscape Management! We really lucked out discovering them and couldn’t be happier with all the work Marshall and his crew did for us. From planning the landscape, to cleaning the yard, to removing tree stumps, to making creative suggestions, to reworking our sprinkler set-up, to planting plants, and finishing touches, we ended up with more than we imagined.

From the start, we felt that Marshall really listened to our vision, helped us maintain our budget, and was really great at communicating to us at every step of the way. We couldn’t be happier!

We had Smart Landscaping come out to give us an estimate. They came up with multiple ideas for a paved parking area and walkway. The crew did an excellent job, they are very meticulous at their work, polite and always left the worksite clean and safe. Their work exceeded our expectations and would highly recommend them.

Great job by all. Parts of our front and back yards were in pretty bad shape after irrigation and driveway work that was done some time ago. Marshall and his crew did a great job of getting it all looking good again!

Marshall was responsive to my ideas and budget and brought good ideas of his own! He kept me informed of the day’s progress and his team (Isaiah and Michael) were good workers and pleasant to have around. They worked well together, consulted with me as needed, and left the site in excellent shape.
My only minor caveat is I would have appreciated a more detailed estimate but I am very pleased with the end result and feel it was a very fair price!

Wanted to update our landscape and add additional rock to our long driveway. Marshall provided an estimate that was fair and we communicated via text regarding plant types. The work was completed within 10 days of the acceptance of the estimate and we could not be happier. The area we had redone looks so much better with the new landscaping. Now, I have visions on the remainder of the front yard and a bed on the side of the house.. The SMART landscaping team also provides our maintenence and we couldn't be happier with the work the team does. Thank you for a new design for our landscaping and for keeping our yard in great shape.

I've used several companies and had very mixed experiences, but Smart Landscaping has won us over with their superior work and excellent customer service....and they're just nice people to do business with. I had a great experience working with the owner and team at SMART Landscape Management who recently installed irrigation, sprinklers and low flow to my entire property. In addition, they did a comprehensive overhaul of my backyard landscaping. The owner, Marshall, was prompt to come out to do an assessment and bid. I had a definite design in mind and he and his company were able to bring my vision to a reality. The supervisor and the team of workers did a great job following the plan. They were prompt, polite, extremely hard working, gracious, dependable and respectful of me and my property at all times. Unexpected issues were discussed with me and readily resolved. I had complete confidence from the first meeting that Marshall and his team would do a great job. I am very happy with the final product and recommend this company to others for any size project.
