I used CBR for restoring a small roof bulkhead on my Windsor Terrace builing which was leaking. I have nothing but praise for the workmanship, timeliness, and especially communication - before, during and after the job was done. Despite being a relatively small job, Doug and his team on site took this work very seriously and I felt like I was in excellent handa. highly recommended.

I was introduced to Commercial Building and Restoration, Inc by an architect (Michael Granville) who specializes in challenge of diagnosing water infiltration. In discussion with CBR he prescribed a complicated addressing of a serious leak I was experiencing. It required cutting away tiling and concrete beneath sliding glass panels and an adjacent fixed panel window, sealing the created space with waterproofing material, creating weep holes and covering this new work with a custom fit metal cap. I was very impressed by CBR’s team’s productivity and professionalism; it was a real pleasure to see how well they worked together. To my astonishment CBR completed this work in two days, leaving my site tidier and cleaner than when they arrived and the job. All my administrative dealings with CBR principals were easy and clear communications; each of their representations was reliable. I thoroughly recommend Commercial Building and Restoration, Inc. They had the knowledge, skills and dedication to do my difficult project successfully, to my complete satisfaction.

Our 24-unit coop hired CBR for several projects during my time on the board. It was my pleasure to work closely with Doug on a major facade restoration. Their work repointing the entire building, shoring up a sagging cornice, and scraping and painting 4 fire escapes was excellent. Doug is an incredible communicator and tremendously responsive, and his crew treated our building like it was their own. We brought them back to build a retaining wall, with similar results. I'm almost sorry we're running out of things for them to fix.

Our 1870s-era corner building has hired CBR for several large projects, including the installation of a brand new roof, facade pointing, and a vital structural wall reinforcement. Doug's expertise and guidance made these complex projects manageable, and he consistently delivered the desired results on time and on budget. Doug is the best communicator I have met in my 20 years of real estate experience, and no one will outwork him. I cannot recommend CBR highly enough for your building's exterior and restoration work.

I have used CBR on numerous projects including a kitchen renovation, a structural renovation in my home, and most recently a gut renovation of a medical office.
Their work is superb in quality, they are highly professional and complete projects on time. The owner Doug Gornick took a personal interest in overseeing these projects. He was available, professional, and a pleasure to work with. He hires excellent capable employees. They have gone above and beyond and competently take care of issues that arise. If you want an amazing finished product without the stress that so often accompanies renovations then I recommend CBR!

I was fortunate enough to have been referred to Doug and CBR soon after I closed on the purchase of a home in Brooklyn. We were in need of a new roof, and subsequent to that discovered additional facade work was required.

I have been through multiple renovations in the past ten years, at several different properties, and worked with countless trades. Doug and his team, most of whom have been with him for 10+ years (very telling), are without a doubt the most thorough, professional and courteous subs I have ever encountered. I cannot recommend them enough!

The CBR team just completed an extensive 3 month project to address leaks in our cooperative in Park Slope. From early on, we could tell this company was different, with incredible attention to detail, they proposed solutions to fix our buildings' issues that were of the highest quality we've ever seen. They were also incredibly responsive to our concerns and once the project started, flexible enough to revise scopes of work as needed. Everyone from Doug, the owner of the company, who provided daily updates and photographs of work in progress so that we knew exactly what was happening every step of the way -- to their Vice President, foremen and individual workers, exhibited the utmost professionalism and care, excellent quality of work, with all areas kept in pristine condition (especially during these difficult times of strict COVID protocols). Our entire community is very pleased with their work, the company and the whole experience. Cannot recommend them highly enough.

We recently worked with CBR to renovate our outdoor play space. Doug, his foreman, Meti and the whole crew are extremely professional and work hard to get the job done. The team even paused on work everyday at 1 PM so as not to disrupt our students rest time. (we are an early childhood program). They are efficient and knowledgeable. I highly recommend working with CBR!

Doug and Richie were hard working, professional, and highly communicative during the entire 1.5+ year they were working on our building. Their workers were respectful and did quality work. It really seemed like CBR took pride in the work and actually cared about pleasing their customer. Would recommend to anyone.

My co-op hired CBR in 2021 to conduct extensive repairs to the top two floors of our building to address leaks that were causing damage to the interior walls and window frames. CBR was paid 400k for the repairs and the work went on for over 6 months. Within 18 months of the repairs being concluded, signs of moisture getting in were back and damage was visible in exactly the same locations where CBR had done work. We monitored the progress of the damage and took photographs to document it. When the board and management company presented this documentation to Doug G., he stated that it was likely due to expansion from seasonal temperature changes. This seemed very odd since only 3 of the 6 windows in the apartment in question were showing signs of water damage (paint bubbling/chipping/cracking, wood swelling/expanding) and the window frames with the damage were exactly the same ones where CBR had done their work (and no damage was observed on the windows where they did not work). When he was asked to come out to examine the damage in person, he declined, stating he already had enough work. In my opinion, CBR does not seem prepared to warranty the efficacy of their work (despite the very high cost) and I would not recommend any co-op use them.
Edit based on answer from vendor: Response here does not address the central and basic issue. The positive reviews CBR received were right after work was completed. The crews did work in an orderly fashion during the project. However, now, water has been getting in at the exact same locations where they worked. Less than 2 years after completion of 400k worth of work. That is the issue. Which is not being addressed via his comments or actions.

The CBR team was excellent. Highly professional, attentive to detail, thorough in their work. Doug went beyond the call by coming out on a weekend to inspect when he didn't have time during his weekday schedule. And he always answered my questions promptly and directly. The onsite supervisor was also highly professional and thorough. I very much appreciate the quality of their work and the experience of working with them.
