I called the Davey Tree Expert Company regarding my interest in having a certified arborist assess the health of a large limb extending from my ~40-foot weeping cherry tree. A consultation with James ("Jake") Craven was scheduled for the very next day. In addition to recommending removal of the large limb, Jake also recommended removal of all of the dead wood in the weeping cherry tree. As I am a new owner of this property, Jake also helped educate me about the various other trees on the property. Jake accommodated my preferences for scheduling and scheduled the job quickly. The two men who performed the job (Domingo and Nick) started and finished their work within the estimated timeframe. Domingo and Nick were highly skilled, polite, and thorough. They fully answered my questions about the work and assured me that they would do everything possible to not let any debris impact my new fence. Jake came by during the job to make sure everything went as planned, and he even helped with the cleanup. After the job was complete, the cleanup was so thorough that you would never guess such an extensive job was just performed.

In addition to going above and beyond for every aspect of this job, I asked Jake to consult on work my neighbors want to do to trees on my property. Again, Jake went above and beyond in providing his expert opinion on the proposed work, relaying his recommendations and my concerns to the tree company hired by my neighbors, and helping me navigate this delicate situation.

I highly recommend the Davey Tree Expert Company, and I plan to return for any tree work needs I have in the future.

Jake and his team are always on time, if not early to all appointments. They are kind, professional, respectful and clean up after their mess. They're knowledgable about the different types of trees, how to maintain them, and how to keep things safe. The quotes are a little higher than the competitors we looked at, but you know you're paying for high-quality and responsive service when you go with Davey Trees.

I have been using The Davey Tree Expert Company for a few years for all my tree care. This year I had cabling, trimming and pruning down to the numerous trees on my property. Matt Chase is an excellent arborist and his care for the health and protection of the trees is what you want from an arborist. The crew that was sent to do the work was very professional and hard working. They did any amazing job and a wonderful clean up. I highly recommend this company for all your tree care needs.

I worked with Paul Vega to assess a huge red oak we have in our yard which was showing signs of decline. Paul did a thorough inspection of the tree and ultimately determined that there was a fungal infection which would require the tree's removal. Paul did a great job explaining the condition to us and was a great help providing a formal letter that we could submit to the town to get approval for removing the tree. It was a pleasure working with Paul and I would strongly recommend him and Davey for any type of residential tree care.

My experience with Davey Service was excellent. I worked with Paul Vega to assess the condition of the trees in my yard and to come up with a care plan. Very knowledgeable and easy to work with. I had Davey remove four trees and prune other trees. Did a great job. Very satisfied with the service based on everyone I worked with from the company.

The Dave Tree Expert Company did a great job at our church. A risky cherry tree that was leaning over the back of our building could only be reached by going up and over the top our two story building. Davey brought the right equipment to do the job and cleaned up all debris after they were finished. The back of our property looks better than it did before they started their work. The crew even pick up a small pile of fallen branches we had been collecting over the winter, a nice gesture.

Recommendation for Davey Tree, Westchester County NY Division
In August 2025 I engaged the local division of Davey Tree to eradicate a large stand of bamboo on our property in a townhouse cluster community called Walden Wood in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
The bamboo stand touched the back ends of three immediate neighbors, plus the back ends of about eight others running down a steep hill to a driveway where our property ends. The bamboo growth covered about a half-acre. Because of the cluster of homes in a wide oval, I had no direct access for heavy equipment to be brought on to our property. The owner of the driveway below allowed an entrance of heavy equipment by using his driveway.
On August 25, the Davey Tree crew arrived early morning, worked all day, cutting down all of the bamboo. They worked quickly and continuously. Importantly, they did not cause any damage to our neighbor whose driveway and property was being used.
The very next day, a crew arrived with a large stump grinder. Once again, the courteous crew worked quickly and continuously all day, covering the entire involved properties. Subsequently a relatively short time later, a Davey Tree skilled technician applied herbicide to the remaining leafed bamboo shoots and live stalks.
The diligence and professionalism of the Davey Tree crews in a situation that touched many properties ended in a very positive outcome with no complaints from the numerous neighbors whose properties were touched by this project. Actually I received many positive comments about the process, the careful way the crews operated and the beautiful result. And I found the contract amount from Davey Tree to accomplish such a positive result to be fair and reasonable.
An important factor in the success of this challenging project was the Davey Tree certified arborist, Paul Vega. He managed the crews, advised me on the progress and what would be happening next. Paul went the extra mile during the whole process to make the operation go smoothly. His expert advice was invaluable.
Davey Tree is on my list for needed tree work in the future.
