Excellent company to deal with. Friendly tech's and excellent service.
Small town, homey feel. Local. Steve and Eric were great, and Doug came by at the end to inspect and answer any questions.

Just completely ignored my NYSERDA contract. They didn't even follow-up after I left them a message with one of their workers. They deserve 0 stars.

To the individuals at D.H. Berry, don't even bother with a BS response to this asking me to "reach out" to you. You know what you did, and I know what you did, and we both know you did it on purpose, and we both know why you did it. There is nothing to discuss. You earned 0 stars, but unfortunately the system forces me to give you 1.

I hate you and your ilk, and I hope that you all rot in the deepest, darkest, hottest pit of hell for all eternity and then some.

From start to finish the job was done exceptionally well. Steve and Eric were cordial and informative. We have been customers for over 20 years and could not be happier.

Sorry but completely unprofessional. We had an appointment set for today at 11:00AM. It is now 12:40PM and they are a no call no show. If they can't make an appointment for an install on a new heating and cooling system or at the very least call to say they ar e going to be late or can't make it, I wouldn't trust them to show up for an install appointment either. So glad that time was arranged off from work to have this company come in.

Techs were very good and great knowledge with what they did. Explained each part of the units they were installing. They cleaned up after they were done. I would recommend them for their service. ( installed our air and furnace )

Very professional. During the cost estimating process they took the time to explain options in great detail and without pressure. Installed a new furnace and air conditioning system when promised with excellent installers.

This is my 2nd time using DH Berry, quick reliable service and I would refer them to anyone interested in AC installation. They even used my old laundry shoot for cold air return on 2nd floor. That was their idea, shows they think about what is best for their customer

from the beginning to the end, personal from owner down to installers, to technicians, explained everything, did outstanding work, even with challenges they incurred, and were very clean in doing the work, with minimal disruption in our home. so glad we chose this company , and would recommend them highly.

Always happy with D.H. Berry, they have installed a hot water tank and washer/dryer for us in the past, this time it was a new furnace and central AC. Very pleased with service and responsiveness, would highly recommend.

BUYER BEWARE! They do not back up the work! We had a furnace installed by them & it was less than 2 years old. It stopped working one night & I didn't get a my emergency call returned till 1:00 pm the next day. In the meantime, I had to call another furnace repair company because the temperature outside was in the 30's & we couldn't go all night without heat. It cost me $167.00 & if DH BERRY had called in a timely fashion for an emergency, they could've backed up their own work by fixing the wire that had come loose. And which btw, the company that came out, said it shouldn't have happened on a brand new furnace of less than 2 years! I asked them to pay the bill & of course, all I got was excuses & rhetoric. Very, very unhappy with this company!!!!

D.H. Berry supplied a written list of work to be done and then gave a detailed quote, including equipment, pricing and rebates for a new furnace/AC unit. They were very neat and professional and the installation was performed to my satisfaction. I would highly recommend D.H. Berry to anyone.

Service was excellent. Both technicians were very friendly and informative. They also checked my air condition unit and cleaned up after the installation. Many thanks to both technicians.

We have had Berry Electric come out to Service our Furnace, Air conditioning and hot water tank. Eric has always been great to work with and spot on with his repairs. I will be using Berry to replace my units in the near future as the existing ones have reached the end of thier life spans.

My experience using D. H. Berry for a fairly substantial residential project was exceptional! I highly recommend them for your project!

I learned about Doug (D. H. Berry) from a referral by our basement contractor. Based on that, I got a quote from D. H. Berry and three well-known HVAC companies in the southtowns (Hamburg/OP) for a project that involved moving our furnace and hot water heater about 20 feet from the center of the house to one side (to create a large open space for a finished basement), coming up with a solution to provide more hot water for our family of six, and making sure we future proof.

Doug gave it a lot of thought, came up with a solution that seemed the most efficient (to my mind) and he came in right in the middle on pricing.

Steve and Eric did the work: they installed a new Rheem 75gal water heater and a new Rheem 85K BTU furnace with 1/2hpwr blower. They also installed both units 20 feet over from where the original units stood
There was a lot of duct work, resizing of main trunk, upgrading of exhaust piping, and other work that needed to be done, and everything turned out beautifully. This was a full 4 day job.

I also hired Doug and his team to return a few weeks later to run an additional cold air return and a few vent runs in the basement after framing was complete on that project (ducts run down to floor rather than just in ceiling). Again, the work was exceptional.
This was one full day job, with an initial visit to make sure they had the right materials.

    Additional thoughts:
First, while Doug and the other companies said it would not be a problem, I had reservations about moving the furnace from the center of the house. My reservations were not warranted, however, as the bigger blower and resized trunk line provides more CFM out of all my ducts than ever before. In retrospect, this was a no-brainer and I should have done it earlier.

Second, moving the water heater extends the time it takes to get hot water to my second-floor fixtures. It’s not a huge deal, but I’ll be looking closely at installing an under-the-sink hot water recirculating pump in the near future. I asked Doug and his team if they would install one on the water heater, but they were reluctant as they hadn’t had good luck with them. They told me to ask a plumber for a second opinion. Again, I appreciated the honestly.

Third, the flammable vapor sensor (FVS) on the Rheem water heater has poor quality control. You can read about this several places online. Steve and Eric had a sensor go bad right after the initial install, and then the second sensor went out about a week later – I didn’t love finding this out at a 5am shower. Doug came out that same day to install another new sensor and also give me a new backup. Since we are in the southtowns and typically not in Doug’s service area, the same day response was greatly appreciated.

Fourth, my only real complaint is that I got charged $120 to run a new thermostat wire (5-wire). This literally took Eric 5 minutes (I was with him when he did it). I understand it’s just a standard charge (I actually didn’t say anything to Doug about it) and we lucked out on how easy it was to drop the wire to the basement without drilling or having to fuss with the wire, but that is a line-item cost I would like to see decrease substantially.

So … it’s been about three and a half weeks since Doug came to replace the water heater sensor (about 4 since installation) and the new units have been working flawlessly.

Highly recommend D. H. Berry – I’ll be using them for major HVAC projects I have in the future (like upgrading my A/C unit)!

The install was 2 2ton HVAC units and 1 96% 2stage gas furnace. First the good, the install was good, ductwork was reconfigured and looked great, both techs were friendly originally. The bad, the tech Eric originally wanted to hook up their cheap one stage thermostat on what is called auto stage, I purchased a top of the line Honeywell 2 stage stat for them to hook up which they did. The unit was NOT tested properly and the blower did not come on on the first stage heating. Eric came back to troubleshoot which took 2 hrs to find that the control board was bad. After 2 weeks to replace, which I understand considering COVID he replaced the board and insisted on setting the unit back to auto stage. All that money for a 2 stage furnace wasted in my opinion, because that is the way they normally do it. Also the blower for the AC was set at 1300CFM, 1300CFM for 2ton AC! 400cfm per ton is the norm, even less, should be like 350cfm for high humidity areas like ours. Repetition and POOR knowlege led to a noisy, poorly performing, EXPENSIVE install. Very DISSATISFIED!! Good thing the equipment they use comes with TXV valves, because it is IMPOSSIBLE to properly charge an AC unit with improper airflow! ALSO at a previous job I had experience with them, some fire alarm shutdown relays were bad and the customer called them, but once again because of POOR troubleshooting experience they replaced $5000 worth of equipment before disconnecting the relays! LACK OF KNOWLEDGE AND TROUBLESHOOTING is why from me they get 1 STAR!

To add to this, 1 year later I’m letting out my dog and hear a buzzing noise from the condenser, open it up to find a burnt wire not event tightened down, I’m an electrician and this is a major fire hazard. These guys are nice and friendly but do you want someone that doesn’t know what they are doing or do you want someone friendly see pic below

Just a great business to deal with in a pinch. Eric and his technician came out and installed a new furnace for us when our old beast was going down fast-even came back to replace a sketchy old wire they were not happy with. Very professional and courteous to my family and home. Great Job Guys Thanks!!

Recently had a furnace tune up, to be ready for winter. The company contacted me before arriving to let me know who would be doing the tune up. Steve was very professional ,explained what he would be doing and approximately how long it should take. Did a great job, even gave me a few tips for more efficient use of my heating system. Cleaned up any mess and said to call if I had any questions or issues with the furnace. Would highly recommend this company. Thanks for a great job!!

I requested for service since my AC didn't start after the season. I was told 120$ for call, and 120 per hour rate for technicians time. The technician diagnosed the unit and furnace tangentially, just accumulating time. The actual issue was the relay switch at the condenser, which ideally should be the starting place for diagnosis. They changed the switch 15$ (on hardware stores) for 350$+ tax, completely deceptive or incompetent practice.

I've been using D.H. Berry since 1995. It is a family run firm that has the highest ethical and work performance standards in the industry. Most recently, their very knowledgeable team installed a replacement furnace and air conditioner. The technicians were very knowledgeable, polite and kept a very clean work area. The new equipment looks and works great. Doug Berry, owner, and his team are commended for maintaining their high standard of excellence over decades of service.
