I write to give my highest recommendation to Red Star Electric.

The Situation

We were in an old house built, we think, sometime in the 1960s. The electricity has not been checked in a very long time. Most of our outlets were 2-pronged, and sometimes whole rooms didn’t work. We knew we had a lot of repairs to do, but we were not sure where to begin, how to begin, or if we could afford the repairs. We Googled and looked around Westchester for electricians, but it’s a difficult landscape to navigate and we felt anxious and overwhelmed.

Red Star Electric, the company

From the second we called Red Star, we felt better and at ease. Immediately when we spoke with Layla on the phone, we knew we were in good hands. She walked us through the process of Red Star checking out our home. She was transparent about pricing, and she let us know how much the walkthrough would be. She assured us that Red Star took all major credit cards, and she explained that to know what each task would entail, and to get a quote for said task, her team would have to methodically assess our home, and then we would discuss the price. Layla took care to not give us some number pulled out of the air, and we appreciated that. She took our email and phone number, and we got a quick confirmation email and a fast appointment. We called on a Friday, and had the appointment ready for that Monday morning (even though it was Easter weekend)! On the day of the job, we got updates that our technician was on the way, and he arrived ON TIME, which was huge for us!

Murad, the electrician

Murad is easily one of the best technicians in Westchester. First, he showed great empathy and kindness for how worried we were about all the work that needed to be done in our home. He calmly walked through each room, and he made sure we had the correct fire detector as well. Our original ask was simply to change a 2-pronged outlet into a 3-pronged outlet, and Murad did this in literally 2 minutes like magic. Then he fixed a burned-out wire in our kitchen outlet, and he fixed another outlet that had a mismatched wire. He even added in some work for free. This last outlet he fixed was an amazing win for us, because we had had another electrician look at it before, but it stopped working in just 1 day. After Murad worked on it, we had no such issue, and it’s still on now as I write this. Murad was able to take our full payment on a Red Star Electric iPad-like tablet, and it could not have been more seamless. As they say in the Bible, LET THERE BE LIGHT. We were blown away by Murad’s skill, kindness, and unflappability. Layla checked in with us every step of the way. She even followed up with us after the job done was done. And this electric repair work exceeded our expectations by a mile. We will definitely be back to Red Star, and we are asking specifically for Murad!!! God bless him and Layla! We couldn’t be happier, and we highly recommended Red Star.

I received several estimates from other electricians for installing an EV car charger. Red Star was by far the best price. A team of three guys came, including Alex and James with a helper. They also installed a whole-house surge protector (figured that was worth it considering that I have an EV car) and remote-controlled ceiling fan with light, which they had to drop a line in the living room ceiling to install. They installed everything without making any holes in my ceilings(!), except where the fan was installed. They worked quickly and competently, making the work look relatively easy.
