Landscaping reviews in Durham, North Carolina

Always a wonderful experience. We have bought several rose bushes, fruit bushes, trees, mulch, and compost. The staff are knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I go back every spring.

The best customer service. We shop here for plants to put in our garden at home. The selection is incredible and the prices are the lowest in town. We switched from our previous gardening center in Durham to Redmill.

I stopped by one afternoon and gave my information for a large irrigation and mulch job at my new home. The gentleman said they would be in touch. But, just like many of the other reviewers here, I NEVER HEARD BACK. Probably a blessing in disguise.

What a beautiful outdoor landscaping facility! Only to be marred by the worst customer service ever. I will not support this company nor will I recommend this company to any others. The older man who was in the sales booth is inexorably arrogant and reeks of good ole boy big-headiness. Told me one thing when we were face-to-face in the morning, only to flip-flop in the afternoon and tell me something totally different and was blatantly aloof and cut me off several times in mid sentence. Again, I will not support this company nor will I recommend this company to any others, and if I could, I would give 0 stars.

I use them every Spring to mulch and trim bushes. They do a fabulous job. The reason I didn't give them 5 stars is that it's hard to get hold of the guy who schedules work. I've used them for 12 years or so.

Just came from red mill to pick out some plants for our flower beds. Chip is awesome. He was very knowledgeable and kind. They had a wide variety of plants and were able to tell us what would and won't work I our plans (sun, shade, deer, water, etc.). I doubt r we will go to another garden center. Thanks redmill!

I frequent a lot of nurseries and greenhouses in the area, and I have loved Red Mill for years. I am not entirely sure why they have anything less than a 5-star rating, because everyone I have interacted with there has been pleasant and more than helpful.
They are quick to answer the phone, they have great pricing on Japanese Maples, and depending on what you are looking for, have a huge selection. Five stars all day. -
Love going here to get bulk dirt. Much more affordable than Home Depot bags! They always do an amazing job loading it into the back of my truck as well.

Rude & disorganized. When we arrived it was impossible to tell where to look for help. Two men sitting in a golf cart/Gator observed our arrival but ignored us. We walked up to them after 10 min of looking around and inside for an employee. Chip said to let him finish with that customer then he would be with us - and it was not said nicely. Nothing preceded that, like, "hi I'm Chip" or any other pleasant greetings or welcoming. And once he joined us I moved away from the group and I picked out the tree I needed quickly. When I asked to pay, Chip repeatedly told me the tree would not live if I bought it and planted it at my home. The soil, the deer, etc. He lectured me thoroughly to the point I nearly left. Finally he let me buy the tree and it still thrives today - 2 years later. Terrible experience. I was treated like a clueless child.

I stopped by to see about getting a particular kind of dogwood tree for my family to plant in memory of my grandma. There were a good number of options, and I got good advice about picking one out. The folks who helped me were really nice, gave me planting instructions, and even helped me get the tree into my car.
I'll definitely be back for my future plant needs! -
If a plant is tagged wrong, they will not honor the tag prices for the mistake that wasn't there.
They have exciting plants you may be looking for. Take a stroll and find something to catch your eye.
But other than that, this weekend until the 12th or 15th is Mother's Day 15% of the flowering shrubs and flowers and vines. -
Great local nursery. They have nice selection of flowers and perennials but what is really impressive is the tree selection. So many varieties and sizes to choose from. We will definitely be back.

My daughter and I stopped there to see what we could find for transforming a hill into a beautiful back yard oasis. This place is amazing! the color, the variety and the overall quality of the plants was outstanding. we spent several hours trying to decide what to get and then went back for more the next day. The staff was attentive and helpful and made the whole experience a pleasant one. I highly recommend and will go back there again without hesitation.

I stumbled across Red Mill L&N while driving. I drove in to look around and it was very nice to hear that I didn't have to walk all over the 7 acres of property. Once we got there the selection was wonderful. It is obvious they do a great job with the growth and prep of the trees. We found a wonderful magnolia and we're excited to see how it does.

Wonderful selection of plants at a great price!

The selection at this place! My goodness. My wish list is a mile long. I will be spending a lot of money here over the next few years for sure.

Went to look for fruit trees and bushes to establish a small orchard at home. Great variety of plants in an easy to traverse and well laid out area. No pushy salesmanship. Reasonable prices with large established trees and bushes that were fruiting already. Lindsey who was working was phenomenal! She was very knowledgeable when we had questions about pollination and varieties to plant together. She also recommended ideal planting timing and was more concerned with the plant success than making an instant sale. We will be back in the fall as recommended to get our fruit trees here.

Beautiful nursery filled with hundreds of a wide variety of ornamental, fruit, privacy trees, bushes, plants, ferns, and vines. Out in rural East Durham, I was surprised I’d never heard about it before. Friendly staff, reasonable prices...could use an extra hand or two on the weekend when it seems super busy, had a hard time finding someone to help us with questions. Free and wheelchair accessible parking

I was at the nursery at the Home Depot in Chapel Hill. I saw a landscaper there, I said to him things are so small here, is there a place where I can buy larger specimens. He recommended Red Mill. I’ve never been there before and I’ve been to almost every nursery in the area. So I went and I was pleasantly surprised! Very good selection of large trees and shrubs. Many mature sized evergreens and ornamental trees. Many in containers, but many in the ground in burlap. They will dig it up for you. A very nice Knowledgeable guy named John showed me around and gave me many options to my screening problem.
I highly recommend this place if you want mature plantings at good prices. -
This company provides the best service . You get reliable regular service with DJS! A little on the high end of cost but you get good yard maintenance for your money.
