I called Payless to get a quote for replacing my sump pump that began failing while I was at work. The employee I spoke with said they would get someone in contact with my wife and over to the house to get a quote generated. They spoke with my wife and set up the appointment to look at the pump. After looking at the pump and not performing any other services, they demanded my wife pay $70 for them coming out to generate a quote! At no time during my phone call or hers did anyone from Payless say they were going to charge $70 just to generate a quote! I've used dozens of contactors over the years and never had one charge a fee just to generate a quote for the actual work. Oh and their consolation was that if we used then for the service they would deduct the $70 from the cost of the repair (like you're dealing with a car dealership). Consumer beware, this is a very shady business with hidden fees that no other contractor charges!
