HVAC reviews in Pittsboro, North Carolina

We had a new 2-zone high efficiency HVAC system installed and we could not be happier with the process. It started with a visit to assess our needs, were provided a thorough estimate which included a good range of options (price vs efficiency), a discussion with the owner to clarify a few items, to an easy confirmation of system and installation date. The installation team, led by Steven, was outstanding. They were on time, professional, and our install (new variable speed natural gas furnace, AC) is truly a work of art. They had to work around a few issues that existed with our old system, and they did a wonderful job. Steven spent a long time with us explaining our new thermostats, how they worked, how to program them, etc. Our new system (American Standard) is extremely quiet. Steven spend time discussing the warranty, service process, Duke rebates, etc. and put us at ease about any future needs - just call the office and they will help! We highly recommend B&T HVAC.

B&T replaced 3 very old HVAC units at an office that I own. The install was all in one day and B&T sent a lot of people. The crew was so nice and very professional. What I like about B&T is that they are very good at problem solving. One of the units had some issues and they spent a long time trying to figure out how to fit everything in and had to upgrade the electrical panel, too. Their maintenance contract price is very reasonable, too. I plan on switching my contract to B&T when it's due.
We installed American Standard heat pumps. From what I read, American Standard is basically a Trane, if anyone is concerned about brands and quality. -
My new HVAC system was installed yesterday. The team of Steven and Hector spent all day, with the exception of a lunch break, replacing the system. They were prompt and efficient. Steven answered all my questions and honestly, he was quite an enjoyable fellow to chat with. His knowledge about the system and his thermostat tutorial at the end of the day made me realize I made the right choice by calling B&T HVAC. I highly recommend them.

We've been using B&T for quite a few years now. We've been satisfied with all of their techs that have come out to do the preventative maintenance. We also have recently had a complete package installed which includes the air conditioning unit and the heating unit. I cannot ask for better service and exceptional techs that B&T have employed. Thank you B&T for the Fantastic service.

B&T HVAC was an excellent company to work with from the beginning of my search for a company to replace my HVAC system through the installation process. They provided all the information I required to help me make an educated choice as to the type of system my home required. Aaron was available to answer all my questions. After the system was installed, tested and a complete clean-up done, Stephen spent plenty of time explaining and answering questions about the control panel and all it could do.
I would highly recommend B&T HVAC. -
Edit - I am changing my review rating to 4/5 because I really appreciated the call from the Owner. After my experience, I fully expected them to defend their position. During the call, we discussed parts of the process that broke down such as being incorrectly told the service fee is separate from parts/labor when in fact it is deducted from the final bill. Without getting into verbatim details, it was apparent the emphasis/importance he puts on his customers experience and a lot of my issues could have been resolved with better communication. I cannot give 5/5 because my experience did happen and that cannot be changed, but the call left me feeling confident it is not a representation of their normal process.
Original:
I should have known to call someone else by the way I was greeted upon calling, but I looked past the unprofessional tone. I should have known better than to agree to a $120 service call fee for an issue that I had already diagnosed and communicated, but I get it’s somewhat standard in the industry. But I felt completely robbed of that money when I was quoted an outrageous $750 ($300 for 2 hrs labor and $450 for material) for ~10’ of flex duct installation. Mind you, this is on a walkout attic platform that requires no crawling or limited movement. I called thinking it must be a mistake because a bag of R8 12” flex duct is $130 retail, and there are only two fittings. I was met with two people saying “I don’t set the prices, they are set by the owner”. By my math assuming retail prices (not wholesale which they would getting), that’s a 300% mark up on materials. And if that’s not the case, I was welcoming the discussion to better understand the price. Either way, I was able to get the work done for $350 by a HVAC company with a licensed professional (which is more reasonably in the $25-$55 per LF range), but I will never get that $120 back. -
B&T just installed a 20 Seer American Standard HVAC for us ... great service and staff ... highly recommend them for you ... our legacy with B&T dates back 30 years ... always been outstanding

We're so grateful that B&T HVAC is the company we use for heating and air. Their service over the years has been stellar. We recently purchased a new HVAC system from them, and the installation crew was fantastic. The crew worked so hard on a very cold and dreary day....and we were happy with all of their work. Stephen, on the installation crew, kept us informed of everything they were doing and made sure we had all of our questions answered before they left. I know it was a very long day for them, but we were so appreciative of all of the work they did. Great company....and one that we highly recommend!

After getting an estimate form my current HVAC Service company that seemed excessive, I received advice to get a second estimate from B&T HVAC. I liked my previous HVAC service company, which is why I had been with them for the last 10 years, but I came to LOVE the experience with B&T! From the estimate process and throughout the installation I was impressed with the knowledge, training, and professionalism of Aaron, Stephen, Hector, & Kevin. In fact, Stephen diagnosed a hidden problem with my supply line that would have been easy to miss or overlook, but ultimately was the likely reason my previous HVAC unit failed 2 times in the last 10 years. Instead of overlooking the problem, he took the extra ~3.5 hrs to get the job done right despite the late hour of his discovery and the 96 degree heat on the day of installation. Needless to say, my wife and I were more than impressed and will recommend B&T to all of our friends and family. You can add another star to the 5 that are listed above.

This experience happened a while ago but I was reminded by a conversation I had today, and feel it’s useful for people to see.
I had a malfunctioning upstairs AC unit. I managed to find an electrical device in my crawl space which had a red light lit up next to a dimmed green one. Told the technician about it, they said they checked it and found nothing, suggested my filters were just clogged.
I knew this made no sense to me because my AC upstairs had effectively stopped outputting any air at all, but I trusted the guy had done due diligence and figured maybe it would get better with fresh filters. Well it did not. I had a newborn and a toddler and other serious life circumstances that distracted me from getting back to B and T for at least a month.
Eventually I was talking to my parents who also used B&T snd mentioned the continued problem. They decided to call B&T and ask for a free service call on my behalf. I hadn’t even said replied to my parents when a B&T technician showed up to my house, but I was around so I told them the problem persisted.
The guy found that a screw connecting a motor to a flap that blocks or allows air into the upstairs partition of the system was loose, and the motor would try to open but the flap itself slipped and was staying shut. Tightened the screw and voila, everything worked as normal.
The technician said they felt bad for missing it and said of course they’d cover the service cost.
I thought all was well until a couple weeks later when I got an invoice for a hundred plus dollar service fee. I emailed explaining what the situation was, and I was sent another invoice a week later, a repeat of the same one. I became aggravated about the situation and sent an irritated email asking them to stop sending invoices when I hadn’t even scheduled the service or approved it myself, and had been told it was being provided for free.
The owner emailed me and insinuated I was lying, that they did fix the problem originally and I was trying to scam him or something by representing a second later problem as the same as the first. I said I wasn’t going to debate it further and ceased communicating. My parents were upset about this and apparently in their communications with him, the owner doubled down on asserting that the problem has been fixed the first time, and no one would ever wait weeks and weeks before reaching back out.
Frankly I think most of this is just a miscommunication, but where this starts to feel worth telling others about is the owner feeling emboldened to declare to me that I would never wait several weeks if they hadn’t fixed my unit the first time, and approach all communication with me as though I was lying or trying to rip them off. As if it would be that hard to read the notes of what I said the problem was the first time, see they did nothing at all to resolve the problem except tell me to change my filters, then come back for the exact same problem and suddenly they perform an actual fix and I am good to go.
I don’t know if the owner thinks his customers are idiots, or just had his ego get in the way of communicating. But I wouldn’t ever trust this company with my AC unit after this experience and I have moved on to other businesses. -
Everyone I interacted with about our new furnace/ac purchase and install was very professional and competent. They took care of our home and explained the process thoroughly along the way, as well as all the details we needed to know after the install. The office staff is always friendly and helpful when I call.

Fantastic experience with B&T HVAC in Pittsboro installing a new HVAC system for our home. Professional, prompt and courteous. Great communication. Highly recommend!

We called B & T with some HVAC issues. They were able to fit us into the schedule the next day. Jay was great...Super-friendly and respectful...he troubleshooted the issue quickly and had it fixed in about an hour. There fees are very reasonable too. Highly recommend!

Jack Capps was our service technician this week. Great experience for us; from his initial introduction to the professionalism in educating us about our equipment, Jack was outstanding. We feel like we have made a new friend.

I just had two HVAC systems replaced by B&T. I recommend them highly. They are honest, worked quickly and quietly (in the pouring rain). After the install the crew head Steven explained everything about the new system and how to use the new smart home thermostat. He should be a spokesperson for the company. Several of my neighbors used them as well. I am confident that I chose the right company.

Contacted B&T HVAC to replace my old system with a new American Standard HVAC. Aaron came out to evaluate my system and went over my options. Hector and the installation crew worked diligently to install the new system. Afterwords, Hector went over the operation of the thermostat, suggested some maintenance tips, and installed a few carbon monoxide detectors. I would recommend contacting Aaron and his team to address your HVAC needs.
Thanks for your hard work.

The installation of our new 18 SEER variable HVAC system went well. The crew was well-trained and efficient. They communicated well and answered all questions. We’ve only had the system for a day and the weather is mild, but everything seems to be working well. The system is very quiet. This was a new system purchase, not maintenance service, so questions below don’t apply.

If you are living in the Triangle area I don't know why you would ever use anybody else. From the owner Aaron, to Nan at the front desk, every single person on the team is totally skilled, professional, and courteous. Brandon came out to try to fix our unit at 6PM on a freezing Friday night and couldn't have been nicer about it. Jay the service manager visited on Saturday -- awesome guy, and also: no charge. When it became clear our unit needed a total repair (after they gave it an honest try to fix - UNLIKE other establishments who took one look at it and said "replace"), Hector and his team swapped the old one out and had a brand new one in by Tuesday afternoon. Highest possible recommendation. I'll be a customer as long as they're in business.

We needed to have our upstairs HVAC system replaced (it was 24 years old). B&T HVAC handled the replacement, getting the A/C up and running in only a few hours. As American Standard has gone through a product line upgrade in 2025, they knew that a piece for the heating element would need replacement and let us know at time of installation. They ordered the piece and came back out a week later to install it. Then they put the entire system through a test of the heating cycle (despite it still being summer), to ensure that the heating part of the HVAC system would work when it got cooler. Great job by all.

My husband and I have been customers of B&T for many years. They were our service provider in our old house and we've recently purchased a new heating and air system from them. The maintenance and installation technicians have been hardworking, knowledgeable, personable, and thorough. We look forward to continuing to be B&T customers.

I had a complete ac and furnace system replaced a few weeks ago. I knew of B&T for a while and my wife knew them forever. She has used them before, and we went back to them again. They were great to work with. Day of install 3 guys showed up early and had the whole system complete by 4:30. Guys were friendly and cleaned up their mess completely. You would have never known they were here except for having a new unit now. My system was very old, and the new system is 90% efficient so I should see a big savings on electric and propane next year. In talking to the guys throughout the day they told me owner is strict on quality and expects only the best for his customers. That is a good feeling.
