How to Choose the Right Plumber

Hiring a plumber is a decision about your home, your water, and sometimes your safety — worth more than an impulse phone call. This is the short version of how we'd approach it, and the criteria embedded in every GigoPro profile.

Start with ratings and recent reviews.

Ratings tell you the average; recent reviews tell you the truth about right now. Read the last handful of reviews, not just the stars. A plumber who fixes the reported problem, explains what was done, and leaves the site clean is the one you can trust inside your walls.

Confirm they handle your specific job.

Plumbing is broad — a drain specialist is not automatically a gas-line or repiping expert. Check that the company performs your exact type of work and serves your area. For regulated trades like gas or sewer, confirm licensing and insurance.

Get at least two written estimates.

Reputable plumbers diagnose, then give a written, itemized estimate: labor, parts, and any permit costs as separate lines. Ask whether the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair if you proceed, and whether the quote is flat-rate or time-and-materials.

Verify credentials and warranty.

Ask about licensing, insurance, and permits for your job. Ask what warranty covers the work and parts, and whether the plumber guarantees the repair. Professional companies answer these questions without hesitation.

Questions to ask before booking

  • Are you licensed and insured for this type of work?
  • Will I receive a written, itemized estimate before work starts?
  • Is the quote flat-rate or time-and-materials, and is the diagnostic fee credited?
  • What warranty covers the work and parts?
  • Will a permit be required, and who handles it?
  • How is after-hours or emergency service charged?

Red flags to walk away from

  • Vague pricing that changes once the plumber arrives, or pressure to approve immediately.
  • Refusal to put the estimate in writing.
  • Quoting a full repipe or replacement without a camera inspection or diagnosis.
  • Demanding full payment upfront before any work is performed.

GigoPro makes each step faster — reviews, ratings, service areas, and contacts are all on one profile page, so the vetting happens before you even pick up the phone.

Plumbing Facts Worth Knowing

A few facts about how plumbing works — and how it fails — will save you money and prevent emergencies.

  • Most clogs are preventable. Slow drains are the earliest warning sign. Grease, oil, and "flushable" wipes are the usual culprits — none of them belong in the pipes.
  • A single dripping faucet wastes thousands of gallons a year. One drip per second adds up to roughly 3,000 gallons annually — real money on your water bill, and a fix that often takes minutes.
  • Frozen pipes burst. When water freezes, it expands, and a burst pipe can release hundreds of gallons an hour. Insulating exposed pipes and letting faucets drip during extreme cold are cheap insurance.
  • Water heater sediment shortens its life. Minerals settle at the bottom of the tank, making it work harder. An annual flush keeps it efficient and extends its service life.
  • A running toilet wastes water silently. A toilet that keeps running can waste thousands of gallons without making a sound you notice. The fix is usually a simple mechanism adjustment.
  • Camera inspection before a quote is the professional standard. A plumber who diagnoses a drain or sewer problem with a camera — instead of guessing — respects your money.
  • Hard water shortens the life of pipes and appliances. Mineral buildup restricts flow and wears out water heaters and fixtures faster. A water softener is often the fix.

Your One-Stop Plumbing Services Across the Neighborhood

A burst pipe at midnight, a water heater that stopped working before your morning shower, or a drain that has been slow for weeks: this page is your starting point. GigoPro's Plumbing hub gathers verified plumbers and plumbing companies from cities across the United States in one place, so you can stop cold-calling and start comparing on facts.

Every plumber you find here lists what they actually do: drain cleaning and camera inspections, leak detection and repair, water heater service and installation, faucets and fixtures, pipe repair and repiping, sewer and septic work, water filtration, and gas line services. Each profile shows the services offered, the area served, recent customer reviews with ratings, and contact details. Shortlist three or four pros, request written estimates, and book the one that fits - including for emergencies.

Quality on GigoPro is not self-declared. Before any business appears in search results, we moderate the profile: we check that the company is real, actively operating, and actually performs the work it claims — for regulated trades, we look for proper credentials. We automatically hide listings that stop being active. That is what "verified near you" should mean.

Pick your city below to see local plumbers, ratings, and current availability — or read on to understand the services, get a simple hiring checklist, and learn a few facts that will save you money and prevent the next emergency.

Services You Can Find on GigoPro

Plumbing covers everything that carries water and gas through your home — and when something fails, it rarely waits for a convenient time. Here is what each type of service involves and when you are likely to need it.

Drain Cleaning & Unclogging

Slow drains, gurgling pipes, and full clogs are the most common plumbing calls. Professionals clear blockages with augers and drain snakes, and use camera inspection to find the real cause — grease buildup, hair, tree roots, or collapsed pipe. Hydro-jetting blasts away years of buildup with high-pressure water, often providing a lasting fix for a drain that keeps clogging.

Leak Detection & Repair

Hidden leaks behind walls, under slabs, and in ceilings cause water damage long before they become visible. Plumbers use moisture meters and pressure testing to locate leaks without tearing your home apart, then repair the damaged section. Catching a slab leak early can save you thousands in structural repair.

Water Heater Repair & Installation

No hot water, lukewarm water, strange noises, or a leaking tank are classic water heater problems. Repairs cover thermostats, heating elements, and pressure valves; replacement covers traditional tank units and modern tankless systems. A plumber can also flush sediment that builds up in the tank and shortens its life.

Faucet & Fixture Repair

Dripping faucets, running toilets, weak shower pressure, and leaky valves waste water and money every day. Most fixture repairs are quick once the right part is on hand — and a professional can upgrade fixtures to more efficient models while they are at it.

Toilet Repair & Installation

Running toilets, recurring clogs, leaks around the base, and cracked tanks are the usual calls. Repairs fix the mechanism; installation covers replacing an old or inefficient toilet. A running toilet can silently waste thousands of gallons, so it is worth fixing promptly.

Pipe Repair & Repiping

Burst pipes, corrosion, and repeated leaks in aging systems often mean it is time to repair or repipe. Plumbers patch damaged sections and, for older homes, can replace worn galvanized or failing pipes with modern materials. If you see discolored water, low pressure, or frequent leaks, a repiping assessment is a smart first step.

Sewer & Septic Services

Sewer line problems show up as backups, gurgling drains, or soggy patches in the yard. Professionals use camera inspection to diagnose root intrusion, cracks, and blockages, then clear or repair the line. For homes on septic systems, plumbers handle pumping, inspection, and repair of the tank and field.

Water Filtration & Purification

Whole-home filtration, water softeners, and reverse-osmosis systems change the quality of everything that comes out of your taps. Plumbers install and service these systems, and can test water to recommend the right setup for hard water, sediment, or taste and odor issues.

Gas Line Services

Gas plumbing is licensed work for good reason — it involves your safety. Professionals install and repair gas lines for stoves, water heaters, dryers, and outdoor grills, and perform leak checks and pressure tests. Always choose a licensed plumber for anything involving gas.

Emergency Plumbing

Burst pipes, sewage backups, and total loss of water don't wait for business hours. Emergency-ready plumbers keep after-hours teams for exactly these situations. Check a company's profile for stated emergency availability and response policy before you need it — that is far easier than cold-calling at 2 a.m.

Frequently asked questions

  • Is GigoPro free to use?

Yes. Browsing businesses, reading reviews, and comparing plumbers is free for everyone. Business owners can create a basic listing at no cost.

  • How do you verify businesses on GigoPro?

Every profile goes through moderation before it appears in search. We check that the business is real, actively operating, and actually performs the work it claims. For regulated trades, we look for proper credentials, and we automatically hide inactive listings.

  • How do I choose the right plumber?

Start with ratings and recent reviews, then confirm the company performs your specific type of work and serves your area. Contact two or three providers, ask for written estimates, and compare what each quote includes, not just the bottom line.

  • Can I list my business on GigoPro?

Yes. Create a free business profile to reach local customers searching for your category. You can update services, photos, and contact details anytime, and customers can book you directly from your profile.

  • How often is the directory updated?

Business owners update their own profiles. Our team also refreshes hub pages and removes inactive listings to keep search results current. This page, for example, is reviewed and updated monthly.

  • Repair or replace my water heater — how do I decide?

Ask each plumber for both a repair quote and an honest assessment of the unit's remaining life. As a general rule, if the repair costs more than half the price of a new unit, or the tank is past its expected lifespan and leaking, replacement is usually the better value. Get two or three opinions before a decision this large.

  • Do plumbers provide written estimates or flat rates?

Reputable plumbers give written, itemized estimates after diagnosing the problem — and many quote flat rates for common jobs like drain cleaning or fixture repair. Always ask whether the quote is flat-rate or time-and-materials, and whether the diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair.

  • Are plumbers on GigoPro licensed and insured?

Licensing and insurance requirements vary by state and by type of work - especially gas and sewer work. Ask each plumber for their license number and proof of insurance before work begins. Professional companies expect these questions and answer them without hesitation.

  • How much does plumbing service cost?

Costs vary by job type, region, and time of day — there is no honest single number. Reputable plumbers give written estimates after diagnosing the problem, and comparing two or three of them is the best way to understand what your job should cost.

  • Can I leave a review after booking through GigoPro?

Yes. After your job is done, you can rate the plumber and describe your experience. Verified reviews from recent jobs help the next homeowners in your city choose well — and keep listed professionals at their best.

For the married couples out there you know how it is...your wife says "honey, because I wanted a $100 Amazon Gift Card there's a guy coming over to test our water." You already know how we Men cringe but when I say I was pleasantly surprised - I truly was pleasantly surprised. Patrick Usher not only presented Carla & I with solid information based on facts not hype but he also tested the water from our Bottled Water + Zero Water Countertop Pitcher + tested the water from our water filtration system too. Hands down the difference + benefits + taste + feel our water now coming thru the whole house IQ Series Water Conditioner featuring the exclusive Puronics HYgene® Bacteriostatic Filter stands superior. All were professionally installed on the 23rd per everything Patrick discussed with us during the consultation, completed within 90 minutes with expertise, and when I say our experience with the water has been elevated like never before. We are so thankful for Patrick Usher, the installation team, and Aqua Pure Solutions as a whole for awesome Products, Services, and Team. My recommendation is that if you have been investigating, on the fence, or just curious...please reach out to Aqua Pure but make sure you ask for Patrick...he'll take good care of you just like you were family. Thank You Patrick!!!!

Patrick is the MAN...he was great. He demonstrated and explained everything we needed to know concerning our water. We just moved in our new home and we kept noticing a smell with our water. My husband nor I had any real knowledge about well water but Patrick schooled us. I am so grateful. He was right on time. We were having the Blessing of our new home & a cookout on Saturday and Patrick had it installed on Saturday.. what a Blessing. And Pedro did an amazing job installing. I honestly thought our system was working but Patrick showed us it wasn't and it was also outdated. We now have good clean water. No more smell..no more smelly clothes and we can now actually drink our water and not spend money buying water every week like before. Thank you so much Patrick and Pedro.

My husband and I got this system about 2 year ago now, about 4 or 5 months after we got it my husband tried contacting someone because we didn't see a change in our water. He wanted our money back, but they said we were past the window for that. About a month and a half ago we received a letter in the mail for us to send off a water sample to test our water, so we did that. We got a call about 3 weeks ago saying they received our sample and it looked like we have impurities in our water. They proceeded to ask my husband if we had a filter system in our house and he told them yes, we had their system. He then started to stutter and say well I'm going to let you talk my assistant manager. The assistant manager said he needed to talk with the manager and she gave him her name and number, he tried calling 2 times and only just got a call back yesterday. The manager is now back tracking and saying that the people who tested our water made a mistake and there are no impurities in our water and they are sending someone out Monday to re-test. I'm sure that test will show nothing is wrong now that they know we already have their system that does not work! So what I'm trying to say is, its a scam so don't waste you money!!!!!

My wife and I just recently got our water system installed and by far it is one of the best investments we could’ve made. We definitely see and feel a huge difference with our water when cooking, bathing and doing laundry. Our water tester, Patrick, was awesome. Good customer service and very knowledgeable about everything we had questions on. Good installation as well. I’d definitely recommend this service to anybody.

Patrick was so good to us! His customer service is top notch. Our water is so pure and clean! We had a heavy chlorine smell when we ran water in our shower and now it’s gone! The cleaning products are fantastic too! I highly recommend Aqua Pure. We have saved so much money on water bottles too. Now we just drink straight from the faucet.

Peace of mind having good clean water. We didn't love the taste of the water in our new house, never did we imagine it was because it was dirty! Seeing the results, feeling the results AND free clean soap too?!! So happy with our decision!
