Steve provided expert guidance in helping me decide how to properly open-up my highly segmented 80-year old house. His team did was highly professional, did exactly what they were supposed to do (no surprises), and treated my home with great care. In addition, although it was not a huge job, I was treated like I was their most important client, which I truly appreciated.

I plan to use Steve Barber Construction on future renovations. Highly recommended.

Steve Barber Construction just completed a major kitchen renovation for our Hyde Park home. The project included complete demolition of the existing kitchen, adding load bearing structures, and complete electrical, plumbing, flooring, and lighting work. The end result is a beautiful, premium kitchen and a new flow for our house. Steve managed the project in detail. He is personally involved with his projects. In all renovations, there are things that come up (especially in 100 year-old homes) which must be addressed and Steve does this expediently and efficiently.

Most importantly, the project was completely finished within our time frame. Steve does not leave finish details hanging. He completes the job.

We used Steve earlier to construct a second story deck and he did a superb job on that also.

Steve is a trustworthy professional. I will continue to use his company for any other projects we may decide to do.

We worked with Steve and his crew to add a screened in porch to our house plus completely remodel our kitchen, powder room, stairwell, and refinish our hardwood floors. From the beginning of the project, Steve worked with us to understand what would work to meet our needs and provided a detailed cost estimate with payment tied to his work timelines (vs arbitrary dates). We had frequent check ins with Steve as needed to ensure everything was on track and also thought that Steve's contractors were all amazing to work with. I would highly recommend working with Steve on your construction project and would definitely work with him in the future if needed

We selected Steve to build a 21 X 16 screened in porch off our kitchen. Our house is almost 100 years old and we wanted the porch to look like it had always been part of the house. Steve suggested we work with architect Jeff Stawicki. They have collaborated on many projects. Jeff came up with a design that went above and beyond our vision. The professionalism, communication, timeliness and craftsmanship of Steve and his crew are outstanding. They were all very easy to work with. We could not have asked for anything more. Friends and neighbors have complimented the workmanship and commented our porch looks like it was always part of the house. We have not hesitated recommending Steve to others.

Steve was extremely professional and has years of knowledge about what will satisfy a customer's needs. He was able to explore the replacement of garage at my property and gave me some great advice regarding the return on my potential investment along with an estimate of the costs. I would highly recommend him and his company.

As someone who had never had anything built before, I had expectations of how things should go. Steve and his crew met all of them. My garage is fantastic.

Steve was always there to answer questions, keep me informed and to make sure I understood the process. He promptly returned my calls, and was available when I needed him to stop by.

He was also helpful with ideas before the building process even began. Even before I was sure I was going to hire him! I really felt he wanted a happy customer.

Amazing! Exceeded my expectations! Incredible craftsmanship and attention to detail. Excellent communication throughout the entire process. Efficient and timely. The main ones were that Steve Barber took time to review in detail what they could do, set realistic estimates of pricing in our first meeting, and was extremely responsive. Steve Barber Construction remodeled our 27 year old home which was built in 1986. Due to the amount of work required, Steve recommended architect Jeff Stawicki to work with us. We changed the layout of the kitchen and master bath, added a bathroom and updated the other bathrooms. We raised the floor in the great room, removed two walls, replaced the deck, and added a covered porch to the deck. We replaced windows, doors and much of the cedar siding on the house.

Steve and Jeff had great suggestions as we went through the planning stages. Steve’s recommendation on suppliers was excellent and we are very satisfied with the quality of the building materials.

Steve said the project would take six months but it took seven months. We thought this was outstanding due to the number of changes we made. We are very pleased with the quality of work Steve Barber Construction provided.

Steve Barber Construction built my screened-in porch. Happy to give a positive referral. My job was a bit more complicated than the average screened in porch, but they had the know-how to do any request I needed including masonry, electric, and carpentry. Steve is easy to work with and will make suggestions along the way, but still gave different price point options. I did check a reference before contracting with them and was told “Steve is honest as the day is long” which I found to be true.

Steve worked with our architect, Jeff Stawicki, (they often work as a team) to build a room addition and screened in porch on our home and do some much needed repairs. The quality of the work was excellent and the project was completed significantly ahead of schedule. Steve's team of subcontractors were very professional and Steve was present almost every day to oversee the work. We will definitely use him again for future projects.

We hired Steve Barber Construction to add a large deck to the back of our Terrace Park home and to update the front porch and door. We are absolutely thrilled with the beautiful end product. Steve and his team were easy to work with, communicative, professional, detail-oriented and extremely efficient. The job was competed in 2 months from start to finish even though we kicked off in the middle of winter. We hired Steve Barber Construction to tear down our old two-tier deck and build a new one with a partial roof. Steve was so professional, so responsive to our concerns, and his crew of workers were very skilled and hard-working - a pleasure to work with. Whenever I had a concern I would email Steve and he would stop by and address the issue (some splittered railing boards under where I fill my bird feeders daily he replaced completely - in addition to some other boards and steps that he didn't think were up to par!) We absolutely LOVE our new deck and would definitely recommended him for any construction project. Even though we were probably one of his low-end projects we were certainly not treated like one. :)
