Reviews of local pros in Novelty, Ohio

Dan’s planning on my walkway project was masterful and his crew’s execution was meticulous. They contributed both functionality and beauty to my yard. And they are nice people to work with.

Dan and team redesigned, pulled-out, and replaced our front flower bed. Dan was very responsive from my initial request for a bid, through the process, and afterwards when we had additional questions. Chapin is busy, so it was a couple of months until the work started, but it was worth the wait! It was high quality work, including the clean up. Highly recommended!

Chapin Landscaping replaced a 70 foot long, five foot high, railroad tie retaining wall with concrete block wall. Large trees and an overgrown front yard near the wall made it difficult to reach, and several other landscapers refused to bid on the project. But Dan had no problem clearing a path to the wall and replacing the railroad ties with what is shown in this photo (the wall goes about 10 feet further than what you can see here). He was easy to work with and took time to explain to us various options for proceeding and the pros and cons of concrete block vs. timber. We would gladly work with Dan and Chapin Landscaping on future projects.

Chaplin came out and repaired nagging issues with my irrigation system. They showed up right on time and left with my yard looking like they had never been here. They handled the warranty issues with the manufacturer for me. Very pleased with their service !

I had to leave a review for Dan at Chapin. I had a little issue with water buildup around my home. Had someone suggest adding more stone to the side of my home to help. Had Dan come out to give me a quote for the job. Dan ended up informing me of multiple possibilities for the water buildup and advised I look into those first. One of the things he suggested is my footer drains could possibly be clogged. Long story short that was indeed the actual issue. Dan could have simply come by gave me a quote and got the job but he chose to be a good honest human being. Thank you so much Dan!!

I originally reached out to Chapin Landscaping for a fire pit patio and walkway quote (which they provided), but I chose to tackle drainage and grading first to get my lawn back in shape. Dan adjusted the plan to run the three back downspouts and my sump pump discharge to the woods behind the property and to level the low spots where water had been collecting.

They worked with my schedule to complete everything before a fence installation, and the crew was onsite within a few weeks and got right to work. The project went very smooth, even though they had to battle a day of a very hefty storm. After the next rain, the improvement was obvious—no standing water and the lawn is already in much better shape.

Big thanks to Dan, Matt, and the whole Chapin Landscaping team for getting my yard back in order!

It was a pleasure to work with the Chapin team. Dan was full of great ideas that turned our backyard into a place we will enjoy for years to come.

Professional is accurate, but does not tell the whole story. Beginning with meeting Dan to get a quote, he makes an instant connection and instills confidence that hiring Chapin Landscapes is the right choice. Once the work started, the Chapin Team were ALL so positive, kind, hard working, skilled and are always striving to do a great job. A great choice that ended with a great result!

We recently had our house painted and, to do so, we had to remove some of the plants that were in front of our house. I assume they had been there since the house was built in the late 40s. It looked like a train wreck once we pulled out the plants and painted.

We hired Chapin Landscapes, to give us a fresh new look, and we couldn’t be happier!

We chose Chapin because their work had the creative, natural look that we were seeking. Not the old cliche look, with a bunch of the same shrubs and flowers all lined up in a row.

Dan came out, took a look at our space, listened to what we wanted to keep from our remaining plants, and most importantly, understood what we didn’t want.

A few short weeks later his crew worked fast, completing our project in two partial days.

We now have a great mix of plants, trees, flowers, ferns, and even a few plants they split off from other plantings in our yard. The feature that excited us the most, large rocks, added to the natural appearance of the landscaping. A nice surprise, we later found, was they placed a couple of the leftover rocks, working them into our backyard.

They removed a feature I had put in myself to open the yard up for a better view, relocating a red leaf maple and decorative grass, and incorporating them into the new design.

We ended up with a front yard that we are very proud of. We have gotten several compliments on how great it looks, and have even noticed a few cars stopping to look as neighbors drive past.

I would not hesitate to hire Chapin Landscapes again when we need additional work done. If you are looking for something more creative than the typical landscaping you see around town, with a more natural flow, contact Chapin Landscapes!

Dan Chapin came out to the house, looked at what I wanted done, explained very well how they were going to accomplish the job. He gave me a fair price for the job.
They worker showed up to do the job and it was a large job.
When he was finished, I was very pleased with the outcome.
I would definitely recommend Chapin to anyone needing lawn work. Mine was a fairly large job, but was finished in just 1 day.
Very glad I called Chapin.

After many no-shows and estimates that were way over the budget we disclosed, my husband reached to Dan at Chapin Landscapes. I cannot say enough good things about the experience of having them build a sidewalk, patio, and stairs for us. His team began the project quickly and finished on schedule. When the weather did not allow them to fill in the and between the pavers, they came to finish the job as soon as the weather allowed. The team was professional, hard working, and gave us a beautiful patio to enjoy being outdoors. Also, our dog loved Dan, and she is an excellent judge of people!🤣 We are so pleased and highly recommend!

I would definitely recommend Chapin Landscapes for your home project. They clearly wanted the job more than anyone else. Dan gave me an estimate within a day of contacting them. Their price was better than all other contractors I contacted. The completed project has undoubtedly added value to my home.
