I have been working with Moran Heating and Cooling in a commercial apartment setting for years now and I cannot stress enough what a prompt, professional and detail oriented organization this is! Moran HV/AC always goes the extra mile and does it with an amazing attitude and customer experience! They have not only fixed current issues but they troubleshoot and make you aware of things that need attention before it an emergency! I cannot recommend this outfit strongly enough!
I like this guy personally but I am reviewing him on how he runs his business. 1. If you have a heating-out situation on or around a holiday, don't expect to hear back from him for 2-6 days. 2. My geothermal loops he installed started leaking after 1 year and he could not offer any reasonable options for repairing them or compensating me for the issue. He claimed it was not an installation issue. 3. The unit he installed should have had a 20 to 50 year lifespan. It is being replaced today, about 5 years in, due to these problems. 4. He told me this would significantly reduce my energy bills. Still awaiting the results of the new HE gas furnace I'm having installed, but everyone I talked to thought my electricity bill was way higher than it should be for the house I have. Bottom line: I would not recommend. Find a long-established company with multiple technicians available to address issues and that offers some kind of warranty on the work performed. Lesson learned!
Mike installed a geothermal system in our home and redid most of our duct work which was necessary for the system to perform optimally. He installed loops deeper and longer than other contractors would. He has an exceptional understanding of geothermal systems, he's passionate about it, and thinks outside the box to install systems that way over perform. Everyone tried to talk us out of geothermal, including several other local HVAC companies. I heard every horror story. Hiring Mike is a surefire way to avoid having one. What he provides is the best geothermal installation possible, hands down, and since he's a one man show, he does it inexpensively. It's the whole package. We absolutely love this system. It's just so cheap now to heat and cool this big, old, incredibly leaky house. This may seem like an unusually glowing review, and it is the best review I've ever written for anyone, but it's because I'm so impressed with him and his work. I doubt there's a better geothermal guy in the United States. If you're considering geothermal and he services the area you live in, it's a blessing. Do it.
Terrible experience! I strongly advise anyone considering a geothermal HVAC installation to stay far away from Roberts Plg. Htg. & Clg. Co. & First Geothermal Energy. My experience with them was nothing short of a nightmare. Mike, the owner, is unprofessional, unreliable, and downright disrespectful. He continually failed to meet the timelines he promised and made it nearly impossible to coordinate with other trades. In fact, my electrician almost walked off the job because of Mike's uncooperative attitude and constant arguments with subcontractors. Not only was Mike frequently absent from the job site, but when issues arose with the outsourced drilling for the geothermal system, he completely refused to take responsibility. He essentially told us to “deal with it” despite being the one who hired the drilling company. When it came time for the second phase of our big house project Mike has refused to answer/return phone calls. It was clear that, once the big job was done, he had zero interest in helping with issues that arose or addressing any concerns as part of post installation support/customer service. Do yourself a favor and hire a reliable HVAC contractor who values your business. Mike and his company are only interested in the big initial payday and will leave you high and dry afterwards. This company has been nothing but a hassle, and I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy.
