We got a heat pump that repeatedly stops working. It's supposed to have a 10 year warranty. They always have to come out and monkey around with it and nothing ever works. It always fails when its freezing out and when we need it the most.
They tried blaming the manufacturer at first and even said they have another customer with the same issue as ours. They initially talked about replacing the entire unit. Then it switched to replacing the motherboard or something. Then they said it's because it periodically goes into defrost mode. But defrost mode for 10+ hours is a bit excessive. Then they tried to blame it on our insulation. Then they tried to suggest that it was actually blowing out heat when it barely was, suggesting that I may be imagining being cold. Then they said the remote must have malfunctioned and got stuck in timer mode. They said they fixed it by removing the batteries. The next time, they said they fixed the remote by setting the timer on/off to the same time. They also said they were ordering as new remote, but we never heard back.
I dont understand why they dont just replace the thing. I'm not imagining being cold. When it works, it works very well. Sometimes even too well. But when it stops working, which about 4 times a month in the winter, the cold is absolutely unbearable. I dont even see what the purpose is of trying to get them to fix their mistake anymore if they dont intend on doing anything to rectify the problem.
UPDATE: it is now the summer of 2024. I can't believe that this place can't return a call on the same day. I have been calling since about 2 pm and texting and emailing, I have yet to receive a response.... Unbelievable.
