Western Oregon Builders rocks and here is why: The company has integrity, good workmanship, extremely skilled workers, is reliable, trustworthy, does work on time and within the given budget. I hired WOB to build a vacation rental home at the Oregon Coast. The entire process from design, budgeting and bidding, excavating, building and picking out material was a smooth process. I deal a lot with construction in my job and I have never experienced a smoother construction process than with WOB. Part of building my house was a huge excavation job as my property was on coastal, sandy sloped terrain. WOB did an amazing job excavating and preparing the site for building. The owner of WOB, Alex, is a man with integrity. I had an extremely tight budget and Alex totally stuck to the bid, even though we encountered some unexpected things on my property that we had no way of knowing at the time of bidding. I actually think that Alex ate some of the expenses to protect my budget. His company did the job extremely well with great quality workmanship and within timelines. WOB is extremely good in consulting about materials. The house turned out so much better than I had visioned it. It is a vacation rental and my guests totally love it. It's completely booked now and people consistently comment on the well built, attractive house. Alex has a talent to consult about high quality material, that is attractive and saves you a ton of money. He really made this house a success. WOB is my go-to contract. They're the only ones that I'll work with. I highly recommend WOB for excavation, building, remodeling and pretty up your home. You won't regret it. I promise!

Great experience compared to previous contractor. We had a complex project that included addition of garage, new fantastic patio with cover unlike anything else, new roof, chimney repairs, tie in new and old siding, some electrical and plumbing to boot. All came together very nicely with a look that "this was there all along". Now finding other things we want WOB to do around our home.

Attention to budget and design details; Alex and Beate had great ideas to achieve our wants within our budget followed by work done with attention to details down to the clean up at the end of every day (to our pleasure and our picky HOA).

At first we were reluctant to wait for the work to be done but our patience paid off and we could not be happier. What was our is has now become "Our Home".

Amazing job all the way around. We built an ADU attached to our main home. It’s a huge undertaking, starting from the architectural aspect all the way to completion. Beate is the architect and Alex the builder. Brother/sister team. I would not recommend doing it any other way, or with any other company. You cannot imagine all of the moving parts, they walked us through it seamlessly. Starting with design, permitting, construction, they handled it all. We are so pleased with the entire project that we are looking at another build with them. My wife has a designers eye, details matter. Everyone on the project worked closely with her ensuring all her needs were met. Things change along the way, they pivot so that our build is exactly what we envisioned. Alex and the team are professional and work very hard, regardless of the conditions! We broke ground in October, they worked through the winter! Great company, you cannot go wrong working with them!

We contracted with WOB to install a new roof on our home. It was a complete removal of the old roof (too many layers) and installation of a new roof. The work was done quickly and with quality. We had some trouble with the contractors (mussing up neighbors new paint job, not totally cleaning up after the job, ruining a new bush in the yard), but the team at WOB was super responsive to our concerns and took care of all them right away. Great service, great communication.

Western Oregon Builders did a wonderful job converting my garage to an ADU. Alex and Beate worked with me every step of the way to design, permit and construct a beautiful one bedroom home. The travertine tiled bathroom and custom-made cabinetry are especially striking. I appreciate the quality of their work and being able to discuss options during the process.

Alex and his team are the utmost professionals. They will work with you on any size job to design a custom solution that fits your needs and budget. Alex was able to finish my remodel when an unscrupulous local interior designer went way over budget and schedule. While I was dealing with that situation via legal channels, Alex saved the day by finishing the job. He even helped identify less costly alternatives to some of my original plans. Most importantly, the job cost what the estimate said it would, not a penny over. I should have used Western Oregon Builders from the very beginning!

Alex at Western Oregon Builders is in such high demand that you will need to wait for availability to get your project started. Do not let that deter you! The product they deliver will come in on budget and exceed your expectations. Like most, we had to work within a budget to get our ADU built. While we would have loved to put in a variety of high-end finishes, we simply had to live within our means. That, however, did not turn out to be a problem at all. The showroom at W.O.B. is full of amazing choices and they even help direct you to those that fit within the budgetary quote. You are free to “buy up” if that is your choice, but the wide array of finishes to choose from makes it easy to get exactly what you want and not break the bank. All of Alex’s subcontractors are professional craftsmen who clearly take pride in their work. We could not be happier with final product delivered by W.O.B.; it was definitely worth the wait!

I want to add that we experience some damage from the recent snow and ice storm, which Alex and his crew were quick to repair. I continue to be a very happy customer!

Western Oregon Builders and R&B Design did a wonderful job on our remodel! They took our ideas for an addition with solar panels and integrated the new structure seamlessly into our existing home. They were very flexible and open to our ideas, while also remaining clear with us if we were making a mistake. We give them our highest recommendation! You can trust them with your job.

Western Oregon Builders have done two jobs for us (one large and one small) and both have been excellent. They provided cost estimates, gave us options, and - best of all - followed through with the projects. They were able to provide the builders and subcontractors (plumbing, electricians) faster and better than I could independently and they did good work.

The showroom is an added bonus as you can see and feel any tile, counters, or flooring while getting a great price.

Summer of 2017 I engaged Western Oregon Builders to replace my roof. They were recommended by my nephew who did business with them through his company. They did an awesome job. The quote they presented me was what I paid (no additional expenses were incurred). They explained what days they would be there and they met their commitments. I had friends who said to be aware of all the nails and debris that would be left on the lawn and garden areas. There was none! They had a dumpster brought in and everything was clean and tidy when they were done. They also replaced two skylights. I drive onto my driveway and see my nice, clean beautiful roof and am very pleased with the work they did.

WOB is a great company to work with. They will try hard to save you money, and they will also work with you to accomplish your hopes and dreams. Where other builders may give you a very high quote because they're scared to meet your requirements, WOB will sharpen their pencils and make sure they aren't blowing your budget. They'll help talk you down from bad decisions, but they'll also have conversations with you about how to try and accomplish your goals, and also explain to you potential pitfalls. They have a long lead time for new projects, but honestly that is a good thing, because it gives you time to work on your designs and make sure you're building something that you want, and not just rushing into an expensive project. There really is no project too big, they helped us build our dream house from the ground up. They have reliable subs that they have good relationships with, but if you have your own sub that you want to use they are open to that as well. They really just love their job and they love building things that they can be proud of.

Beate is very easy going and has good design sense and can help you plan your project for livability and comfort. They will meet with you as many times as you need to ask questions and redo designs if it isn't hitting the mark the first time.

Building is a lot more expensive than it used to be, so you want someone like WOB on your team to try and help you save cost where possible.

Alex and his team at Western Oregon Builders are just the best. We feel so lucky to have been able to hire them to fix our home. They are not only reliable and honest, they are genuinely good people who want to do good work. They have made us feel like part of their family, and we could not ask for more than that from our contractor. Beate, Alex, and their crew do great work. They are the best construction company to work with. They will work with you through every detail (city permitting, layout, finishes, construction design considerations, mid project changes, inspections) without price gouging you. They are super flexible and some of the nicest people you will meet.

Western Oregon Builders remodeled my kitchen which meant demolition, tiling, installing new electrical and fixtures, rerouting water, etc. They also created an opening in a wall that allowed for visual continuation and consistency between two spaces. Finally they repainted the entire great room which included a 20 ft. ceiling. Everyone involved worked diligently and professionally. What meant the most to me throughout the process was Beate's great design, supervision and follow through.

We worked with Western Oregon Builders to build our ADU in Northeast Portland and could not have asked for a better result. From the initial consultation to final inspection and every step in between, Alex was on-hand to guide us through complex City requirements and aesthetic decisions while offering cost-effective alternatives. For a general contractor, Alex loved to do the work himself, especially behind the excavator :). He is always personable, responsive and professional. The quality of his work speaks for itself as our neighbors have continually admired how well the ADU fits into the neighborhood as if it had always been there. In fact, one of our neighbors decided to engage WOB after seeing Alex's work on our ADU. We highly recommend Alex on projects large and small.

A bit overdue - WOB, Alex (owner/contractor) and Beate (architect) renovated our basement last year and did a wonderful job. They are very great people, personable, responsive, very knowledgeable, and offer great recommendations. They even considered the possibility of expanding the size of one of the rooms by checking for space underneath a staircase that ran along a side of the room. Though the space ended up not being large enough, we appreciated them considering it, and they ended up turning it into a small storage closet. The quote was accurate. Their team does high quality work and pays great attention to detail. Would definitely recommend!

Alex, Beate and their crew did an outstanding job building a custom ADU for our family and aging parents. Alex, Beate, and team did an excellent job with remodeling our kitchen. It was a full gut- new floors, rearranged layout, new windows, new custom cabinets, ceiling lights where there were none, a vent hood installation where there wasn't one before, etc.
We are extremely happy with the new kitchen. We wanted a warm, functional kitchen, and the team brought our vision to light. The new cabinets are beautiful, the tile job is great, and most importantly, the kitchen is now way better to cook in. During the project, Beate was highly communicative, so we always knew what was going on and what the timelines were looking like.
Their work is high quality, on time, and also on budget- the rare trifecta!
