First impressions count! From the moment Junior came to our house, I was impressed by his professionalism and attitude. He supplied a written quote very quickly, and after following up with him, we booked him and his crew for a yard clean up, removing old broken concrete. He and his crew were quick, efficient and friendly. I would highly recommend these guys for any yard work.

Normally we don’t have anybody come work on our yard and that shows. My husband contacted Brian and i am beyond happy that my husband made that call. Brian came out the next day to give us a quote. He was on time , he was courteous and not pushy. The quote was affordable and we actually were shocked at how little he charged for what needed to be done. Brian and his business partner (i assume business partner) arrived on time to do the work and dove right in. I was very pleased with the detail they put into their work. This was a highly complex project that took about three months to complete and required careful planning around irrigation, flood prevention, lighting effects, and the integration of a wide variety of trees and foliage. Glenn, Megan and the Pistils crew are awesome! Pistils Landscape Design transformed what was once one of the ugliest backyards around into a gorgeous backyard retreat with stone pathways, beautiful landscaping (plants and trees), fencing and a cedar deck. We found Pistils after a lengthy search and interview process. Their “Our Approach” section on their website is what really drew me in. And, after working with their team for the last year, I can easily say that all of these things are true: they are collaborative, ethical, honest and produce results that are of the highest quality. No project ever goes exactly according to plan—it’s the response that matters. When something went wrong, Pistils took responsibility and corrected the problem. The project took longer than we originally thought, but I wouldn’t do anything differently. Great design is always worth the wait. Based on their values as a company, their character as individuals and their exceptional design quality, I cannot imagine a better landscape design firm in all of Portland.

Pistils did an amazing job with our back garden so we had them come back and do our front garden including building several walls for us. Top class guys, real attention to detail and good design sense. Would hire them again. A pleasure to work with.

Pistils Landscape design helped us create a tranquil, sustainable, lush landscape for our home. The crew was fantastic! Friendly, punctual, and responsive to any questions or concerns with had. Glenn, Mikiel, and Adam were wonderful and really helped us make a garden that is both beautiful and easy to maintain!

BEWARE. Very high priced and yes their work is beautiful...initially. They installed willow trees right in front of my house 10 years ago, which I have since learned is a very dangerous thing to do. Willow trees are aggressively water-seeking and will destroy all water lines, sewer, irrigation, etc. So most of the beautiful work they did has been ruined by the trees they planted. The paver walkways they hand-laid are all coming up, the irrigation system I paid a premium to install is shot, roots are everywhere. I have nightmares about the destruction happening.
The top reason to pay professionals to do landscaping is yes aesthetics, but also expertise. And Pistils lacks this second point. I strongly advise against using them. Their work does not stand the test of time.

We just finished another evening enjoying our outdoor space—even in the colder months—and it reminded us why hiring Pistils was such a great decision. They designed and built our front and backyard a few years ago, and the quality of the work has been outstanding.

The attention to detail Glenn and his team brought to our project meant we never had to micromanage, which made the entire process enjoyable and stress-free. Angelo was our family’s landscaper for the last two years before my mom sold our house in northeast Portland. He took such good care of our property and always went above and beyond, even helped add a rain garden to the front yard, improving the value of our property before selling, paying very close attention to detail. Our yard became much more than a yard but a natural extension of our home. We look forward to hiring him again for future projects

I reached out to Angelo when I had a few months where I was unable to keep on top of the garden. His crew came out to do weeding, pruning, and clean up for an hour every week. They did such an amazing job! Having them come out regularly really helped me get the yard back together. Having native plants in the yard is important to me and Angelo and his crew were able to identify and care for my plants in the necessary way. I have a bunch of seedlings coming up and a previous landscaper I used hoed my seedlings — Angelo’s crew knew they were lupine and left them be. Recently a delivery driver texted “nice yard!” so I know others are noticing the good work of Angelo’s Landscape as well.

We reached out to Angelo at the end of the summer when we finally realized we were doing a terrible job at keeping up w/yard maintenance and we needed help. He was highly recommended on Nextdoor - all great reviews! Angelo was prompt in his response when I submitted a request for a yard clean up quote, and he scheduled time to meet so he could see the yard and provide an accurate quote. He was on-time, professional, easy to talk to, and made us feel confident about hiring him and his crew. Each step of the process was easy after we reviewed/accepted our detailed quote. He and his team showed up and worked hard to get our yard cleaned up, and did everything we discussed and agreed on - and we were really happy w/the results. We were so happy we decided to sign up for their monthly maintenance package - and it's worth it! Communication w/Angelo is great. He checked-in w/us to confirm our appointment for his initial estimate, checked-in w/us before our yard clean up date to let us know what time they would be there, and sent us a reminder for the start date of our first maintenance visit - and they showed up as they said they would and they do a great job. Bonus: they use electric powered tools and mower. So quiet and nice. I highly recommend Angelo and his team.
