The Elwood team of 3 guys had a tough job,100 foot trees a total of about 30 trees finished the job in 2 days. The crew was very courteous and respectful, will have them back any time

They came and trimmed up a large oak tree that was dangling precariously over our back porch.
All I can say is that they were friendly, contientious, hundreds le$$ than the competition, did a great job and when they left the driveway was spotless.
Great company. Am having them
Come again next week about a dying birch tree. -
I would highly recommend Elwood's Tree Service for tree removal or maintenance pruning. Their crews are efficient and they complete the job in a timely manner.

Let me tell you - there is a HUGE difference between having a team of skilled arborists work on your tree that you want to save, and a truck full of tree hackers with chainsaws! We have a massive red maple in our back yard that provides us so much shade. It's beautiful! We've been afraid of losing it over the past several years because of its size, but Elwood's wants to save trees more than they want to take them down. And they know how to do it! We had the top third of the tree cabled and thinned a few years back. The tree filled back in nicely. This year, we knew we needed it looked at again so we don't lose it. Will and his crew came in and performed an "aggressive" thinning job to balance the tree out and get the weight off of the top. They thinned out a lot of tree but you can barely tell they were in there! Amazing!! There really is a proper way to thin/prune a tree. You may save some money by having a truck full of tree hackers come and work on your trees, but the damage they may cause by not doing it correctly, will cost you down the road. We HIGHLY recommend Elwood's Tree Service! Remember - Arborists.............or tree hackers.

They did an awesome job saving my tree so no complaints there. However the invoice I received was $329 higher then the bid with the bid clearly stating “not to exceed $1200”, just be careful . I would have given 5 stars had there not been a billing issue.

I have used Elwoods for the last 15 years for all our tree trimming, tree removal, stump removal and overall keep our trees healthy and beautiful. His prices are fair and the job site is always left in great condition.

I do not want to write a negative review, but I feel like I have been given the run around. Elwood never calls back when they say they will. In August of 2020, I saw Elwood doing work at my neighbor’s house. I was impressed with how quickly and neatly the work was completed. After talking to the workers, I called the number to schedule some tree pruning. It was August, so I was told to call back in November, which made sense because the trees to be pruned would be dormant. I called in November and had a great conversation with the person who answered. She told me that Elwood was busy, but that she had taken my information and I would get a call to schedule the appointment by December 15, 2020, at the very latest. No call on the 15th, but I understood they where busy and was patient. I called Elwood the afternoon of December 20, and left a quick message asking if I was still on the waiting list. No call back. I waited patiently until January 21, 2021, and called in. The woman who answered was very friendly and said that she still had all of my information on her computer, but said it was too late in the afternoon to schedule an appointment because everything was closed up. She apologized for not calling me back earlier, and told me she had assumed that I had called another trees service. I told her that I had not called another tree service, and had been waiting for a call back from the Elwood. She apologized again and promised to call me the next morning to schedule an appointment. No call back the next morning on 1/22/21. I called that afternoon and left a message saying how I was still waiting, and that I might try calling over the weekend. It is February 27, 2021 and they still have not called back. I do not understand why the representative of the company doesn’t say, “We are too busy to help you.” Being told that I am on a waiting list or that I will be called in the morning does not seem fair or professional, if they have no intention of following through.

Elwood's has been our go-to tree professional for many years. You can depend on Elwood for an honest evaluation of the needs of a tree, and has an exceptional crew. Most recently, crew member Jeremy did major surgery on an ash tree, which now looks great.

Shane and Jeremiah were wonderful for Elwood's Tree Service removing a problematic tree along our neighbor's property line. Very pleased. Personable. Professional. Knowledgeable.
We recommend Elwood's Tree Service unconditionally! -
We were so happy with their service! They did a great job removing tricky-to-access trees in our yard. The workers were very skilled and efficient. They were able to see us quickly and had competitive prices. We highly recommend them!

My husband and I needed to have three trees removed including the grinding of the stumps in addition to another existing stump we had in our yard. We also have 5 very old oak trees that needed mistletoe removed. Elwoods came out and gave an honest recommendation on the health of our trees and a free estimate. I appreciated his honesty. He seemed to care about the health of the trees rather than quoting extra work which I appreciate. It was worth it to have a certified arborist and not just any yard maintenance company take care of our yard. They did an amazing job too. The unhealthy ugly trees we wanted removed are gone. My oak trees look beautiful and my yard looks so much better! I highly recommend Elwoods to anyone who has large beautiful trees that need some attention. These guys are worth every penny and honestly I didn't think they were that expensive considering how much work they did.

Great experience! They came quickly to assess our tree situation and were able to get us on the schedule fast too. Very quick work and just what we needed.

A true Arborist. We started working with Elwood’s five years ago. After purchasing our home the home inspector recommended that we have some trees trimmed back over our house. After consulting with four different companies in Salem (all highly reviewed), Elwood’s was the only arborist willing to trim back a Spruce tree so it didn’t damage our roof. The other companies said to either cut the tree down or to monitor it and cut it down if it started leaning more. We chose Elwood’s because we wanted to keep the trees as long as possible. Over the years, Elwood’s has pruned trees, removed trees that are dieing, and given us some hardcore advice about the invasive birch beetle and when it is truly time to remove birch trees. Now, 2021 and Salem has had a devastating ice storm. Sadly two of our neighbor’s healthy (but not pruned) trees fell on our house. If Elwood’s had not insisted a diseased birch be removed last Fall, we would have had three trees on our house with catastrophic damage. Elwood’s has always given an honest and accurate assessment of our tree health and is willing to save trees when they can be saved. During this ice storm none of our own trees damaged our house or other houses— and our neighbors have noted what a good investment it is to have an arborist take care of your trees. If we had cut down that Spruce 5 years ago- which did survive the ice storm- it would have been one less tree today. If we had just “watched” that Spruce, I am sure it would be down today. Also, thank you Elwood’s for insisting a diseased birch had to come down last Fall- or we would be living in a hotel right now. If you are interested in a true arborist to evaluate the health of your trees and take care of them for the long term, choose Elwood’s.

Elwood’s crew came out to remove 6 trees that included some broken limbs stuck over a building. What a great bunch of guys and true professionals. They were careful, very conscious of safety and fire risk, and worked their way through what appeared to be a tough job. When it was done they cleaned up everything and left things better than they found them. We were very pleased with the service and would recommend them to anybody. We will certainly call them again in the future. Thanks Elwood!

A person answered the initial call, and scheduled an estimate for the next day. Price for a birch removal was fair, and removal was scheduled for 2 days later. The crew was friendly, efficient, cleaned up very well. We received service that is hard to find these days. Highly recommend.

I highly recommend Elwood Tree Service. They are professional, respectful and communicate well. Well trained and knowledgeable employees that take the time to discuss the work you need/want completed. They removed a tree I had that was in a tight spot and did an exceptional job!

Elwood Tree Service worked on a commercial property we have in Salem. They were extremely professionally and did a great job. We ended up getting into a complex situation with a homeless individual and the team handled it very well and even helped her find a new spot to stay. Appreciate you guys!

Joseph was here this morning and did a great job doing a stump removal! He communicated before doing the work to make sure we were both on the same page as what was needed. He took his time communicating concerns and asked if I had any questions. 5 stars!

I highly recommend Elwood's Tree Service. They are professional, timely, and the best price in Salem. Don't waste your time with Mt
View or R&R, both of which are double the price and have caused damage to my property on previous tree trimmings. I was most impressed by the Elwoods crew who cut 17 trees out for me this spring and ground out about half a dozen large stumps. They worked their butt of in the sideways rain and were each positive and professional the entire time. Seriously, if you want the job done right for the a fair price call Elwood.
