Paving Contractor reviews across the US

From our perspective they are reckless and incompetent. They were hired for two different construction projects on Iowa Avenue in West Los Angeles. Both projects were supposed to just take a few weeks to complete but both dragged on for months, apparently because they kept failing to pass inspections and had to redo everything. They have now just left the mess there at Iowa and Stoner. There has been a lack of public access to the sidewalks for nearly half a year, which is a huge problem for disabled residents in particular. It endangers everyone's safety as kids and all others passing through are forced into the street. The whole neighborhood shouldn't have to suffer because of the decision to hire this company.

Edit: This review is accurate. As stated, their work failed to pass inspections. The developers want to blame CA Paving and Grading, CA Paving and Grading wants to blame them.They are the ones listed as being responsible for this work. It's their responsibility to stay on top of it and get the job done. I'll be happy to change the review once the work is finally finished.

I hired EarthCraft Paving & Landscaping for a driveway/patio project, and the final result was disappointing. The surface isn’t level in certain areas, and after the first rainfall, water started pooling instead of draining properly. Proper grading is basic for this kind of work. For the price paid, I expected better craftsmanship and attention to detail.

The work was excellent. They arrived when they said they would and completed the job in under their estimated time. They did a brick driveway, walkways and a brick retaining wall. All with re-enforced concrete base.

From the the first time Paul came out to look at our yard, to the demo and on to when they started with the concrete and pavers it has been nothing but wonderful. We had our entire front yard and driveway redone with pavers, stamped concrete and artificial turf and a roman stone sitting wall. The crew was on time and every morning at 7:30 even though they couldn't start until 8:00 in my city, Paul was also there talking about what was going to be happening and also including and confirming with us what was going to be happening for our total front yard transformation. We are very pleased with the results it is just as we imagined it to be. I highly recommend Alexander and Sons to anyone who needs a new yard, driveway and/or pavers. Thanks Paul !!!!

We contracted with Alexander and Sons for the installation of a new pool deck and pergola to replace damaged and outdated same. The work was performed entirely to our satisfaction, according to contract and in a timely fashion. I recommend Alexander and Sons without hesitation.

Specifically:

A well stocked showroom was helpful with design consultations and material selection. Paul Sarkis is very knowledgeable and guided us expertly through the many different choices. Samples were made available to confirm our choices on location. Last minute changes in design (from tweaking the contours here and there to more substantial scope changes) were accommodated without any problem.

Project execution. In addition to Alexander and Sons, this project involved a pool contractor. Schedules had to mesh and timelines adhered to. Unlike the pool contractor, Alexander and Sons didn’t miss a single promised completion date.

Quality of the work. Alexander and Sons employs very capable crafts people to obtain the best possible results. Excellent stone work (both concrete and natural stone) and outstandingly good carpentry (pergola).

Pricing of the entire package is somewhere in the middle. Alexander isn’t the low bidder and by no means the highest. Considering the scope of work and quality delivered I’d say that the pricing was very fair and competitive.
