Mike and his crew rewired my 96 year-old home, replacing all of the old knob and tube wiring. They installed whole-house surge protection and integrated smoke detectors. Mike clearly explained the process and timeline in advance, and they stuck to it. The job proceeded exactly as I expected. The guys arrived at the same time everyday, worked hard and well, and were always respectful and delightful to be around. They cleaned up every day. Mike, the master electrician, was on site for most of the day, every day. I could not have been more impressed and pleased with their work. Mike and his team operate like a high performing Formula 1 pit crew. The combination of technical know-how, on-the-spot problem solving, customer communications, outcomes, and genuine caring for the 'home environment' is just beyond what I have seen in other trade contractors. Mike and team rescued us from a rather nasty and unsettling experience with a sub-par contractor who abandoned the job. He immediately stepped in w/ a full crew. He then remediated the bad work, did the new work, and sorted a whole set of complex challenges from security system hard wiring in an attic space to tricky placement of ceiling fans in 120-year old structure. I honestly believe you could present Mike and team with the most unusual and compex set of tasks, and they would achieve results that are above and beyond. Finally, Mike and his guys think beyond the task to outcomes and performance. For example: 1) rewiring cameras but also gettting coverage zones spot on, 2) getting the work done but also planning and staging for least disruption, 3) replastering areas that had to be cut. Absolute Pros!

We hired Mike and his team for a knob and tube conversion. The house was built in the late 1800's so you can imagine the complexity involved. Each day the crew showed up promptly and made significant progress - so much so that it took half the time we had estimated. Permits were in order and everything was approved with no issues.

They sent us texts or calls if there was any questions throughout the day. We couldn't ask for more really - they responded quickly and professionally and tidied up the place incredibly well afterwards. When we had an issue with the AC they called in a repair person for us and kept things right on track. Highly recommend!

Mike and his team replaced the knob and tube wiring in our 100 year old house. It was a big job that required opening holes in the walls and ceilings to properly rewire the circuits. My experience with Mike Vandergeest and his team was nothing short of terrific. I would highly recommend him to my friends and family for electrical projects. He did a full electric rewiring of my home. He removed knob and tube wiring and replaced with all new wiring, upgraded the service panel to 200 amps, and installed many lights, baseboard heaters, bathroom fans, porch lights, etc.

Knowledgeable - you spend 10 minutes with him and you realize he knows the ins and outs of all things electric and also generally all things house related. It really gave me confidence in his vision for the final project.

Cost - we received several quotes. He was very competitive with his pricing. And when you price in the quality of the work, I think the value is second to none. He was also very upfront and transparent. No hidden charges. He explained why certain items cost what they did.

Professionalism - he was punctual for all meetings and phone calls. Prompt with all text replies.

Speed - Once the project was underway, they really moved at a fast. My house needed quite a bit of work and they finished in two weeks.

Lastly, he was happy to discuss ideas for various non-electric related items during our several house walk-throughs even though it was of no real benefit to him, which speaks to his easy going nature. I’m not a frequent “review” poster (if ever), but Mike and crew earned it.

Mike and his team did a phenomenal job with a 200 amp panel upgrade last week They were extremely efficient in getting the job done like they've done this many times previously. Swapping out the panel, new breakers, relocating the meter and replacing the outside main cable all complete within a few hours.
I sleep good at night knowing it's all up to code. These guys are both efficient and highly professional. Would definitely reach out again for future home projects. Highly recommended!!
