I recently had solar installed at my home in Churchill by Connected Energy. I was very happy with the process and result from end to end. I originally had a quote through a large company and I’m really glad I went with this smaller company. Dunnegan took the time to quote things the right way and in the end I was able to get a lot more energy production for the money. It was a seamless process with no drama or stress. I’m very glad I used Connected Energy and I would highly recommend them.

Dunnegan McKay and his team at connected energy are fantastic. His team is very professional. I have worked with many solar power technicians and Connected Energy is by far the best. Six months ago Dunnegan and the team at Connected Energy Solar installed rooftop solar panels on my home, and the entire experience was excellent! I interacted with about 10 different solar companies before settling on Connected Energy and from the very beginning I could tell that Connected Energy was different. No high pressure sales tactics or hugely inflated and unrealistic solar production estimates. Dunnegan was honest, and worked with me to understand what was possible with my complex roof layout, and designed a system that would fit my goals and budget. Seriously, don’t even bother calling any of the national solar companies unless you want “Used Car” style high pressure sales tactics and misinformation. With Connected Energy, Dunnegan (the owner) worked with me directly from the first sales estimate all the way through final activation. It was truly a fantastic experience!

The team at Connected Energy went above and beyond to ensure the installation was perfect. They communicated with me frequently throughout the process, and showed up exactly when scheduled. Anytime you have major work done on your home, I think you have to anticipate a few unexpected hiccups along the way. Dunnegan was quick to come up with solutions, make sure everything was resolved beyond my satisfaction, and ensure the final solar install both looked and worked great!

I think many people have an assumption that Western Pennsylvania is too cloudy for solar, but six months in and the system has exceeded my expectations. With tax incentives and the price of solar panels dropping significantly in recent years, solar does absolutely make sense in Western PA, and for me it’s already on track to have a great return on investment.

Overall, I cannot recommend Connected Energy Solar highly enough. If you are considering a solar install seriously start and end your search with Connected Energy.

For me, a locally owned business was import. Dunnegan is the owner of Connected Energy Group and was the only person I interacted with throughout the whole process. Prior to starting my solar project, I did some research on my own to understand the basics of solar systems and then obtained multiple quotes. From the beginning, Dunnegan’s quote was the only reasonable representation of what could actually be installed on my roof, with a realistic output estimates. He took the time to understand what I was after in a solar system. Other companies provided quotes from half way around the world, with completely unrealistic proposals.

Once I decided to continue with Connected Energy, Dunnegan came to the house to take measurements and put his eyes on my actual roof. His original quote did not need any changes b/c he took the time to get it right up front. He walked me through how the entire process would work and made no attempt to get me to sign or commit to anything on the spot. He actually suggested I think it over and reach back out to him with any questions before we proceeded. My project had a little difficulty getting through the engineering permits for a roof installation, but Dunnegan took care of everything. We had to adjust our original plan (i.e. panel layout and panel type) but he made sure any changes still aligned with my solar objectives. Through this, I ended up with more production but no additional cost.

Most importantly and why I wanted a local business, even months after installation and payment was made, Dunnegan still quickly responds any questions I have. The hardest part of entire solar project was finding Connected Energy Group, but once I found them the entire process was effortless.

Communication was great throughout the process, the work was done well and quickly, and Dunnegan continued to answer my questions even after the job was done. Would absolutely recommend!

They came onsite, thoroughly reviewed our situation and objectives, and only then began the discussion about their proposal. Incredibly happy with our solar installation. After doing lots of research online and comparing quotes across EnergySage, Connected Energy stood out as the clear front runner. Dunnegan was incredibly easy to work with. He was always prompt and thorough in answering our questions, and was meticulous with all of the details. Dunnegan recommended the panels and inverters that lined up with all the research we’d done, and gave us a very competitive price. He came to our house multiple times to double check everything prior to the install, including how to maximize the panel layout on the roof, but also the important details such as how all of the electrical cabling and interconnect was going to run from the roof to the electrical panel and meter.

Our municipality in Pittsburgh is particularly strict/tedious when it comes to solar installations. The inspector is used to catching flaws, and was pleasantly surprised when reviewing the work of Connected Energy. Dunnegan was prepared with all of the permits and paperwork, and the installation work itself was clean, neat and organized. It was the first time the inspector had been able to approve an installation on the first inspection (relayed privately to us afterwards). It was the best installation the inspector had seen to date, in terms of workmanship, organization and attention to detail.

Dunnegan ensured we were setup on the Enlighten app and that everything was working as expected. Production over the first few weeks has been precisely what we expected. Working with Dunnegan and Connected Energy was incredibly easy. They are professional and do neat, organized, quality work. I highly recommend them for anyone else considering a solar installation in the Pittsburgh area.

Dunnagen McKay, the founder of this business is the real deal when it comes to being responsive. I saw an add on Facebook of all places and straight up called Dunnagen. I explained that I had a system installed by another vendor that I was looking to expand and wasn't getting anywhere with that other company. A few emails and phone calls later we had an agreement in place to upgrade my system. While that was a small wiring snafu, that I'm blaming on the previous installers lack of following their own plans, Dunnegan was 100% professional in explaining what was needed and how long it would take. I get the feeling from my experience with him that he actually cares about the long-term health and productivity of the entire solar system. Wait, maybe not the ENTIRE solar system, but my system that's install on my roof.

We worked directly with Dunnegan and the team at Connected Energy Solar to install a 46kW solar array on our building in Pittsburgh’s Strip District. As a nonprofit serving individuals in our space every day, I can’t say enough about their professionalism, flexibility, and clear communication throughout the entire process. They thoughtfully scheduled work to minimize disruption, responded to all questions quickly, and provided consistent follow-up. We are thrilled with the results and would 100% recommend Connected Energy Solar!

Connected Energy Solar is the best! Our project involved integrating a solar collection and battery storage system into new construction working with a developer who was not very enthusiastic (at the time) about renewable energy systems.

Dunnegan (one of the owners) worked with the developer's construction supervisor and project electrician to ensure that our system could be installed after we took ownership of the house without undoing or redoing any work. Due to construction delays unrelated to the solar and battery installation, the project took much longer to complete than anyone anticipated, but Dunnegan stuck with us and got the system installed at the cost quoted.

Our system includes a smart electric panel which gives us the ability to actively manage our power use during grid outages. We lost power twice yesterday when severe storms moved through the area and the system performed flawlessly keeping our critical loads running while shedding other power demands.

And we have seen our power bills during the peak of the summer heat go from ~$250/mo to ~$70/mo.

We are very happy that we found Connected Energy Solar when we were looking for a contractor and thrilled with the performance of the system that they installed. And now our developer is offering solar system preparation as part of the next phase of our development's construction, so he has become a supporter too.

We had a wonderful experience with Connected Energy Solar. The representative was in close contact during all steps of the process to make sure that we had a successful installation of our Panels and Powerwall. He answered all of our questions promptly and fully. We have long term plans of adding more solar to our home in the future, and will be using this company again. I have a solar system that was orphaned by Sunnova - a company that went bankrupt ...in addition my system was malfunctioning .Connected Energy Solar saved the day...Contacted Solar Edge, replaced the inverter and set up the app. The guys are a pleasure to work with efficient in all aspects.Wish I had found them sooner.

If you are here then you have had a couple of solar companies knock on your door, give you the 1 hour pitch, then give you a price more than you're expecting, and then sell you financing in order to get you to commit on the spot.

Connected is different, they ask for the address, give you an assessment based on your DLC bill, and then propose a solution specific to your needs and house footprint. At no point I felt I was being rushed to make a decision.

At one point in my project, better solar panels that are made in the USA became available, and Connected made sure I get them, saving me 10% off of the imported panels.

This is truly a white glove service. You get a better solar system at less than half the price of these door knockers. 5 stars is what Connected earned!

This company runs an impressive operation. The crew that installed the panels worked through some pretty bad weather to get this done. The work looks excellent. They also did some work to upgrade my electrical service so I could also charge an EV. Dunnegan worked through some big bureaucratic hurdles, helping me navigate a lot of permits, to make this happen within a very short time frame. They guided me through the process and made it happen. They knew exactly how to navigate existing codes, which made it so the system passed inspection easily. I'm very happy with my system. With electricity prices rising quickly in the coming years, I highly recommend people explore going solar with a reputable company like Connected Energy Solar.

This is the most professional, and competent company I have dealt with in a long time. Excellent communications, installation and customer service.
