Terrible customer service by owner.

Let me start by saying we had great service 6 years ago from RECoogan while we were away our AC broke and they fixed it in a hurry so when we returned home our house wouldn't be an oven.

However, recently we had an issue during the summer heatwave as my AC couldn't quite keep up as it is 25+ years old. Not an emergency but needing a service because I knew unit was getting old and I was starting to think about replacement which isn't cheap. no call back for weeks. I gave them the benefit of the doubt over the busy summer so I pushed my service out till September where they were able to slot me in last minute as I had another issue, which I initially appreciated.

We aren't using the AC right now so I did mention multiple times to the owner I was looking for a long term recommendation for new unit and to evaluate and do a basic maintenance on the old unit.... if it's worth it.

The maintenance techs came and were very nice. Looked at the unit and condenser then proceeded to fix the old system while I was working. Then they slapped me with a $1200 bill afterwards! I was really disappointed they didn't share the projected costs before they started the work, as I would have not have moved forward and put the money towards a new unit instead. Especially since I mentioned wanting a new system multiple times to multiple people! They also mentioned the repairs may last only a year and that my system may have a slow leak. If that's the case why add $700 of refrigerant.

I then called the office and when speaking to Mr Coogan over the phone afterwards it didn't get better, he was extremely rude and did not want to listen to my concerns or offer any concessions since I now had a $1200 bill. Not professional, he was very defensive and argumentative. I was cordial, whereas he was not looking to help a customer.

I again mentioned that I was willing to buy a new AC unit which could be roughly $15K but he was more concerned with arguing with me, proving he is right, while obviously multitasking, versus listening to his customer.

He got frustrated and even hung up on me and said just pay the bill.

He then called back 20min later not to apologize for hanging up but to continue harassing me saying his employees were right with how they handled things, agreeing the AC unit was old, that mice do cause issues which was the case here, that his invoice math was correct, and to just pay the bill, right before he hung up again. He clearly is missing the point.

Would not recommend using this company and I'm surprised they have such a high rating. All he needed to do was say sorry my guys didn't keep you informed of the rising costs of the repair, then offer some kind of discount as a show of good faith.

Great customer service. Had an emergency heat call and they answered right away and tried to walk me through some common issues and when that didn’t work they showed up the next day and made the repairs. Highly recommend them and will absolutely use them again.

Robert was not only super nice, he came at 11 pm for an emergency during freezing temperatures when we lost heat and fixed it for us. We highly recommend R.E. Coogan Heating Inc

Robert was incredibly fast and helpful addressing a 6AM panic with no heat on a single digit cold morning. He knows Navien units inside and out and had ours back up and running by mid morning. Thank you!

AMAZING!! I called RE Coogan at 10am and had a new tankless heater installed by 5. I was glad to see the old 50 gallon water heater go. The men where neat and clean, polite and professional. I truly felt that they take pride in what they do.

I highly recommend this company. I had a great crew (Nathan, Russell, Adrian, Henry, and Sonny) work on my house. It was a very complicated job and took days to complete, but they worked really hard and gave me a great system. They were on the roof, in a tight closet where the heating system was, and in the crawl space under my house. Their professionalism is top tier, and they clearly care about their work and the customer.

Whenever we have needed help in an emergency or for maintenance R.E. Coogan has been prompt courteous, efficient, and helpful with tips and advice. A happy customer for 5 years.

Installers were courteous and professional. They made sure everything was clean and working before they left. Robert Coogan stopped by to introduce himself and meet us. Nice to meet the owner. You can tell he cares about his customers. Would highly recommend them.

Our heating system would not turn on. We called RE Coogan for service, we now have heat again! Just in time for the cold weather. They are great people and a great team!

6 AM I called not expecting anything except an answering machine. Robert, the owner of the business picked up his phone listen to my situation and after a short discussion, he said I'm on my way to you. I'll stop the problem he did and within a few hours, I had a new hot water heater. You can't get better service or quality work five stars is not enough. The office was helpful. The phone was always answered, and the service technicians were polite and they were enjoyable to have on our property.

We recently purchased a Weil-McLain boiler from R.E. Coogan Heating Inc. The plumbers covered our hardwood floors with drop cloths and were very neat. The installation went well and we were very satisfied. Everything was explained and all of our questions were answered. Everyone was polite and very professional. I highly recommend R.E. Let me start off by thanking R. E. Coogan Heating Inc.! My old inefficient gas converted boiler unit stoped working on Christmas Eve. After trying to replace a couple parts to no avail, I decided to call a couple local companies and without hesitation Robert Coogan started to get the ball rolling on helping my wife and I out. Within 2 days before the cold coming in, Robert and his guys took away my old boiler and hot water tank and replaced it with this fine Navien High Efficiency system. Going from a bulky boiler and tank to a beautiful looking unit on a a wall opened up more space in the basement. I can’t thank him enough. If you’re ever in a a situation with having no heat or hot water, please Give Robert and his guys a call at R. E Coogan Heating Inc. He will have your house nice and warm as fast as he can. Constant with updates of what they are doing and how it’s going. Again can’t thank him and his company enough.

I wont be going back.

I called Coogan Heating and told the woman who answered the phone (Jade I believe) that I had a boiler that was not starting and that I knew the pressure gauge was broken. Could someone come out and take a look? She mentioned a $275 minimum site visit. I asked if that was $275 to walk in the door or just a minimum spend for the work? She answered it was the latter.

Robert came by, nice guy, was at my house for about 45 minutes. Replaced the thermo coupler, got the unit fired up, did not fix the pressure gauge because he said it wasn’t necessary. He sees the second boiler (which is working perfectly) as this is a two family house. He takes the cover off of it, looks inside, cleans the dust off the top of both.

I get the bill and he has charged me for both heaters! He says he “already told me was $275 each” but that I should be happy because he applied a discount on the second one. And then cites same day emergency service as partial justification for the fee. This is early October with temps in 60s and warming back to the 80s. Then blocks my number !

My boiler was working again ( minus the pressure guage) but I felt like I’d been had.

Had an issue with my boiler after hours. I was panicking because other contractors either did not return my calls or wanted to charge outrageous prices. Robert quickly called me back and agreed to come even though I am not a regular customer. He fixed the problem and explained everything to me as he went along. Highly recommend.

We met Mr Coogan when he came to do the plumbing after our fire. Recently we had issues with our furnace, so because of how great he was after our fire, we called him for his help. I can not say enough the extents he has gone thru to figure out the problem. So far and above service to get to the root of the problem. Call him I promise you will not be sorry😊

We had the best experience tonight with this company. We had an emergency with our boiler where water was draining from it at a very fast rate. The owner helped us to show the water down and came within hours, on a Sunday, on his BIRTHDAY, he came and took his time to help make sure we had heat. He was patient and explained everything and really saved us tonight. We are so grateful and we will be using this company again!

An honest company with people who really want to help!

I highly recommend this company . Five stars all day . I called spoke to the customer service in the front desk she was very helpful , professional , sweet , knowledgeable and put me in touch with her boss right away . An hour after that a Technician (Ralph) showed up and got to work right away, listen this guy here OMG hand down one of the best technician out there, he walked me through all the problems I had with my heating system. I rarely write a review but this one I must to and don’t hesitate to call them you are not going to regret it. Thank you

R.E. Coogan was great. Provided an accurate quote and installed a high efficiency gas furnace at the agreed price. Bob and his crew were exceptional and left the job site immaculate when they finished. Highly recommend doing business with them.

R.E. Coogan Heating is hands down the best! I experienced a lockout with my furnace, and they came to our rescue, getting us back up and running with heat and hot water. When we lost heat and discovered the unit was locked out, I called multiple emergency companies, not expecting anyone to answer on the first ring. To my surprise, it was not an answering service. They put us at ease, and once they serviced the unit, we received a few follow-up calls to ensure we still had heat and that there were no issues after they left.

I will definitely be using their services in the future, as this was the best experience I have ever had with a plumbing and HVAC company, or any service company in general. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
